  1. is that what cause the ud warnings for me and or the general protection? i know i have the remote shares from my backup server to the main server for tdarr
  2. ah ok so i can ignore that nfs wasnt sure as for the file check.. i unmounted and clicked the check mark for the file check system and it reported FS: ntfs Executing file system check: /bin/ntfsfix -n /dev/sdi1 2>&1 Mounting volume... OK Processing of $MFT and $MFTMirr completed successfully. Checking the alternate boot sector... OK NTFS volume version is 3.1. NTFS partition /dev/sdi1 was processed successfully. and do you know what this error means i tried googling didnt help it came on 30 seconds or so after the ssd warning error does it say that they both linked May 28 04:01:17 Tardis kernel: traps: lsof[17455] general protection fault ip:1498e29784ee sp:187e48546611584f error:0 in libc-2.36.so[1498e2960000+16b000] i ran short smart test no errors i ran extended test no errors and all the server was doing was copying from the 12TB drive in the unassigned devices to the array and the games drive pool to the array... the transport data 1tb drive was just idle i also switched to a new motherboard and upgraded to ecc ram not sure if that all that matters
  3. some reason i got some errors in the middle of the night and i cant copy off my ssd it also thinks the files already exist on the array.. what this error means... and why do i get a nfs error i dont use it not sure what it is May 27 22:16:25 Tardis unassigned.devices: Warning: Unassigned Devices are not set to be shared with NFS. 4. i shut down everything network switchs modem servers etc.. and it seems to be working again dunno if it fixed it or not.. does the diagnostics say something broke i still find it super super slow booting back up does it say anything why its slow... time fixed itself finally though
  5. so i having issues.. unraid takes alot longer to boot up.. i added ECC ram to my server had to switch to a different motherboard as i been having issues lately.. i removed the Parity drive for the time being why i do upgrading and need for new parts server says its been up 73 years... the Mothership website i think makes my server really slow.. i can ping it but it says it cant in the logs.. if you set the array on auto mount it will but its super super slow doing so if you set the array to no to auto mount and when you reboot.. and try to mount.. i get a Red Error on a update.htm file or something i dont have diagnostic and it wont allow you to mount... but here is one of the diags and pic i checked there is a time page in the settings the time zone setting is right apparently its set to now 2097 i changed the time zone and apply but it wont fix the year... not sure what is going on... if it was created from the mothership website issue but i cant change the time.. its a headless server so i cant change in the bios so i been trying from settings page tardis-diagnostics-20230527-2048.zip
  6. @JorgeB ya i plan to reformat disk 1 i cancelled. the disk rebuild... as in a few hours i expect to get that 64 gig ecc ram from samsung to use in my server.. and hope it helps @itimpi ah ok ya ill do that.. i only played with that new config thing several years ago so i didnt know what i can do and do you guys know why the datarebuild is going so slow? and do you guys know if the next version of unraid has a feature or so that it detects in the logs if there is memory issues that unraid will notify you.. since the system logs never tell you when there is Errors or warnings.. the notifications only tells ya about an array or so the 5 checkboxs but nothing really tells you if there is a drive having ata issues or this memory issue... as i dunno how long i been having problems i only noticed when i posted i was having issues getting Geforce 3060 to work in unraid and it kept crashing and no one replied to it.. and then i posted drive issues and by the 3rd post JorgeB found out i had memory issues... so that probably why the geforce 3060 was crashingin the unraid box i havent re tried yet.. but is there a pluggin or anything that lets u know when ram is failing in the System logs so u can stop writting to disks etc.. or do you have to manuually check on ur own say once a day or soooo
  7. @JorgeB can i do "New Config" under tools and remove the parity drive and start over fresh and then re add the parity drive since i unable to find a way to stop datarebuild least thats what i was thinking or if i could format parity drive or add a 2nd parity drive i dunno but i dont want it to take 8 days thats all i know and i dunno why its sooo bloody slow
  8. @JorgeB @itimpi can i hit stop array.. then click parity in the array and some how format the drive like i did for disk1... or is there a command line to format parity drive to start a resync and increase disk speed.. and is there someting that is slowing the parity rebuild to 14mbs does logs say anything can i do a new build and remove the parity drive and run the disks indivdually and then add a partiy drive.. what options are there
  9. ah well i probabbly dont... what i was looking for was parity sync and from what i thought i read.. it was to reset the parity drive.. as i couldnt get data rebuild to turn off and let me do a parity sync.. i want to reset the party drive after i formated drive 1.. it didnt help and when i switched drive that didnt help either... so i went looking for a parity sync.. and found that under tools and i didnt change anything except from no to yes to write to parity... i thought it would force parity to reset like sticking a parity drive in for the very first time.. but it didnt and i cant get data rebuild off and partiy sync on.. or speed up drives to 200mbs from 14mbs 8 days for a partiy sync/data rebuild frig so i think the parity sync errors are still corrupt from what jorgeb was saying
  10. and i dunno if the logs show anything in the diagnostics above as i cant remember if i did a reboot in between running that check so not sure now and i dunno why its doing data rebuild or why its going to take 8 days.. is there anyway to for a party sync after i formated disk 1 and reset party and get it back up to the 200mbs speeds all drives are 7200 and they worked before the ram issues i getting the new ECC ram today so i hoping that solves issues but i cant get the drives to go faster
  11. @itimpi so is there a way to force parity sync like a clean setup of parity to avoid the above pic its doing data rebuild so when what i did with that parity problem tool i selected Yes and then Check... and the hard drives were all lite up.. and the GUI was unresponsive and then i got a 500 error.. on the screen... about 5 min after clicking the Check the hard drives all stopped flickering and the Gui was working again and and no data sync or something i forget what it said at bottom
  12. should i swap back the 12tb and re try again did the logs show anything
  13. @JorgeB your guess is as good as me thats what it did as soon as i mounted its still disk building.. reason i as trying to get it to do a clean parity sync like a reset thats what i thought the parity problems assistant tool does it resets the parity drive.... but locked me out of the gui and and and then stopped and then i decided to swap out the 12tb for a 14tb and and i had done the same above steps it didnt matter 12 or 14 it did the data rebuild
  14. well what i did was stop array clicked disk 1 set to xfs started array cancled data rebuild formated disk 1 stopped array clicked disk 1 set to btfrs started array cancelled data rebuild formated disk 1 i also changed out the disk 1 from 12tb to 14tb what i ment was i didnt want data rebuild i figured it would just do a clean parity check like the first time you add a parity drive to your non parity array it only writes to the parity not to disk1 no data rebuild its just set parity and i though on tools page the Parity problem assistant where you select yes to write to the party was to reset the parity drive but when i ran it it froze up the GUI of unraid it was not responsive.. it took 5 min before i could get it back and it didnt do no 14tb check so i turned it to no and ran regular data build.... i copied some stuff over to the disk1 and parity that normally took 21 hours says there is 8 more days till parity rebuild which is nuts its running at 14mb/s estimated speed here is the diagnostic.. sorry my dislexia gets best of me how i read it and write looks fine to me but not always to others tardis-diagnostics-20230523-0818.zip
  15. i found the parity problem assistant under tools i set it to write corrections to parity and hit check... its doing something but the gui is locked out for me but i can ping unraid i just got no gui update\ after 5 min of no access to the gui... the hard drive lights stop running gui works but it wont run a clean party setup still only option is data rebuild which i dont want... cuz or what do i do just let it rebuild and then format again so i just going to run the data rebuild... is the data going to be corrupt? since all the sync errors... or whats going to happen?
  16. @JorgeB ok thats good it wont copy corruption as i worry you backup corruption so i tried that stop array set to xfs start up array format.. then stop and set it to btrfs and go back online and format but its doing Data Rebuilding so i guessing its creating the corrupted files again.. how can i scrap data rebuild and have it just do a clean parity setup and i swapped out the 12 tb drive with a 14tb drive so its newer incase its gone faulty... so i want it to not data rebuild just parirty sync
  17. @JorgeB so i did a move of all files i guess when you do move it copies the files in krusdader as some files said it couldnt be moved.. i guess those are the corrupted files.. but i couldnt figure the file names as they too long etc... so i did do move what i could do.. then rebooted the server.. then did move.. and did this a few times in hope i could get the best off the server... now how do i format the drive.. and then what do i do scrub all the drives? or parity check etc? and is there anyway to check for bad memory.. as how do you protect copying files from main server to the backup server.. incase main server ram is bad or drive is corrupt that it doesnt copy and overwritte the corruption on the backup server.. that it protects it.. whats the best protection.. and i know this not truenas forum but is best practice to backup to unraid server and a truenas server as they do 2 different file servers.. i just wanna protect myself from this again that in future my backups wont get affected incase main server files are affected.. what do you do for maximum protection
  18. oh i had question if disk1 is corrupt.. how come i couldnt just pull the drive out put in a new drive and the parity drive would fix things? or would the files still be corrupted?
  19. @JorgeB so after 6.5 hours scrub on disk 6 showed no errors.. so i guess that means memory didnt affect that right? so currently i copying Disk 1 to Disk6 some files i not able to copy is that the corruption? and is there a way to know what files got corrupt? or is that only a Truenas thing they have with snapshots.. and is there a plugin to detect in the system logs when ram fails? and i ordered this ram to change over to ECC since my Asus Strik x570 board supports ECC and so does the ryzen cpu... here is link you think that should be good and less issues https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-Server-Memory-M393A8G40AB2-Registered/dp/B09C7MP442/ref=sr_1_5?crid=P0VSNYTXEWK5&keywords=samsung+ecc+64gb+ram&qid=1684525022&sprefix=samsung+ecc+64gb+r%2Caps%2C810&sr=8-5 and i appreciate you help so far.. cuz i didnt 100% know what was going on or what was affected
  20. ah ok so it can only check for corruption it just cant fix it.. so then i guess i should change my pools to xfs from btrfs or is it ok to keep... disk6 gonna take like 6 hours to scrub check.. maybe sooner.. i appreciate the help so far.. as i didnt even know pools were affected too.. so far no issues the check.. so thats good.. doing the vm's pool now...so very appreciative 🙂
  21. sorry i didnt see your previous message ill run scrub on disk 6 now does it hurt to run scrub on all drives? and on disk 6 should i check off fix errors and does unraid have anything to give you warnings when there is ram issues.. and should i change over to ECC would that solve issues later my motherboard does support ECC oh and i read somewhere cant remember where.. but if i use btrfs on single drive pools scrub doesnt work as it check if its corrupt or not is that true? is the scrub only good on the array... and should i convert my single drive pools of btrfs to xfs? or i need to get a 2nd drive to each pool dont have the space for them at the moment need to make my own hard drive caddy to do that and what be best move the files off disk1 to disk 7 using krusader or copy it to the backupserver using krusdader... and if krusdarder disk1 to disk7 does it bring the corruption... and i have a 14tb drive preclearing should be done 3 runs by tomorrow... would having 2 Parity drive solve memory failure.. or least the disk1 corruption like if i just pulled the drive out and let it parity rebuild.. or so...
  22. @JorgeB so i ran scrub twice it aborted twice under 2 hours.. i did scrub on disk 1 and didnt check off repair errors.. is this drive meaning still corrupt and needs formating... can i move files to another drive on my array. like disk 7 or would the corrupt files be moved.. what can i do now? or would another parity check fix things? 23. i tried mounting in maintance mode it doesnt do anything it just shows all the disks green circles like it was working.. you can run parity check i see.. should parity be ran in maintance mode will it fix things what does it do in maintnace mode and or should i mount it normally update... so i took chance and started array parity check didnt come on but my shares are back here is diagnostic if u can see any problems is it safe to re run parity check or what should i do continue to copy back to the backupserver tardis-diagnostics-20230518-1951.zip
  24. and here is the diagnostic... with array offline right now and can u see why unraid takes forever to boot up why it seems to hang around the br3 br4 br5 says they dont exisit but hangs there so long maybe u can see whats wrong there if it shows up and or can i mount and copy to the backup server... or like the special mounting of bfrs or if disk 1 corrupt doesnt the parity drive copensate for that tardis-diagnostics-20230518-1629.zip
  25. @JorgeB so i ran memtest86 twice on my desktop and twice on the unraid box the 16gb ram that is currently replacing the 32gb ram that has errors on it.. and te 16gb passed i also altered the disk.cfg and set the array so it wont start.... and i currently have unraid idling array offline now what can i do to test..without loosing data
