[Plugin] CA Appdata Backup / Restore v2.5

This is the new plugin you have to install.

Right.
So what am I missing?
I attempt to install 2.5 (update) which states it's already installed.

Regardless what I select, it states it's already installed?
What am I missing to perform this installation and migration?

You are missing „Appdata Backup“. Its only visible under 6.12. and all other appdata backup plugins should be displayed as deprecated.

Hello,

Ah ok -- the old ones in 6.12.* do not say deprecated on my instance.
I will install 'Appdata Backup' - KluthR's Repository

plugin: installing: appdata.backup.plg
Executing hook script: pre_plugin_checks
plugin: downloading: appdata.backup.plg ... done

Executing hook script: pre_plugin_checks
Checking some pre-install things...
Plugin files were not present. Fresh install
plugin: downloading: appdata.backup-2023.06.23.tgz ... done

Extracting plugin files...
Checking cron.
Checking cron succeeded!

appdata.backup has been installed.

Thank you for clarifying the process.
All looks well. Will monitor the backups moving forward and see if there are any concerns.

Thanks for all your hard work, new GUI looks great!

Has anyone had issues with dockers starting up after the backup but not actually working? In my specific case, qBittorrent gets turned back on after the backup, and everything appears to be working, yet, no uploads/downloads are happening. After a few days troubleshooting, I found that every morning, I have to (in the app itself) log out of qBittorrent, then exit qBittorrent, then restart the docker container. Once I do that, qBittorrent starts and whatever was uploading/downloading when the backup was executed, starts up automatically again.

Thanks!

I actually have the same exact problem. Mines is also with the qbittorrent application, though it seems to be inconsistent. I'm using 3 instances of hotio's qbittorrent-vpn with 1 being the latest version and 2 running on 4.3.9 and I only have this problem with one of the 4.3.9 instances.

If I exclude folders from appdata backup does it still shut off the containers that are associated with those folders or does it keep them on?

Hi, I am using v2 still and I saw this message in my unraid "This plugin has been deprecated. Advised to install the version from KluthR instead", any idea how I can move it to v2.5, is there a post that has the step-by-step instructions where everything remains the same and not change?

You have to be on unraid 6.12, install the new one and it'll import settings, see just a few posts up. You might still want to reconfigure things since things work a bit differently and there are many new features.

I realized I hadn’t been properly back unit up since updating. I fixed that but now get a warning “not stopping frigate because it should be backed up without stopping” is this just an automatic warning for frigate since it’s an nvr or am I missing a setting?

Click on it in the list and see if it's set to not be stopped.

Well I feel dumb that I didnt try clicking on any of them. Wonder why it was set that way... Maybe something weird in my transition from the old version. Appreciate it.

Any idea what is going on here?

The syslogs are inside the appdata and changes during backup. That will cause an error. Either exclude they or change its location.

How do I exclude folders from the backup? Seems to be missing that option after migrating from the older version.

New to this app

You already posted in the right thread, or do you really use the old plugin version?

Actually I'll go do that now.

No problem. But THIS is the old thread 😅

Sorry, it's just that there are so many threads for the app. I'll move it now.

I am using the old 2.5 version (am still on 6.11.X). Just checking to be certain, this warning means the backup plugin will delete all files/folders within the specific 9-15-2023 folder, not the entirety of "/mnt/user/" directory, correct?

It will overwrite any files already in your backup destination.

Yes, and the destination in this situation is specifically only the 9-15-2023 folder, correct? no folders higher up on the directory (/mnt/user/)?

Just paranoid it's going to clear out everything nested in /mnt/user/

Yes. The only way anything would get overwritten would be if that directory already exists you’ll lose any existing data in that directory.
