Tvheadend plugin for unRAID V5.0

Featured Replies

yes but this is no easy ...usually driver for one tuner (and other from kernel) is the patched soure of media three, i very hard and difficult connect few drivers in one media three, even openelec had some probles and russian guys release alwayes 3 version of openelec, generic (from kernel only drivers), TBS (for TBS drivers) and s2-liplianin for better and more supports tuners

BTW. im successfully run VDR on unraid :) but this early stage, still need some fixes, anyway for 2 days testing - working - no crashes :)

and much more better working with XBMC :)

Guys, if piotr gets this working TVH will no longer be needed as VDR looks like it has much better XBMC support, especially since it works on Raspberry PI :D

I thinks it's more a attitude question. They both have advantages, the configuration on tvheadend for example is easier, more beginner proof. There has been a lot of ongoing development in tvheadend lately, since Adam Sutton joined the team so I think they are at eye lavel right now...

Bad news!  I like Tvheadend.  Piotrasd can you share how you got past the openssl/libssl requirement for tvheadend?  I get stuck here when I try to compile it.

I don't mind compiling updates for everyone, I just keep getting stuck.

About this .... VDR is much more longer developed from Tvheadend, have much more better builder main core - engine, better support for multiple tuners or even for single (but for few streams from one TP)

Yes, tvheadend last time move on with developing, Big thanks !!! for Adam (but im in touch with Adam, and i know he get new Job and his time for tvheadend will be limited). Anyway is true Tvheadend is preaty nice software and Easy ... but still many things need be improved.

I get, every now and then some strange error like "No input signal" (for few sec) or when i try switch channels, there is problem with multiple tuners and even sometime with run few streams from one TP :(. After when i back to VDR im forget about all strange problems, just watch and enjoy Live TV.

In my test under unraid and XBMC on twin tuner - im recorded 7 channels at a time (from 2 TP), and watch another one Live !!! and all recording was completed without doperd fames etc. and Live TV it was smoothly, even without any slow action I could switch channels arroud this 2 TP :)

Im stil will be compile new version of tvheadend ;) so dont worry ;)

but from next week i hope i release VDR package for easy install :) im already have full working VDR with few plugins :)

(include nice Webinterface, dvbapi for oscam, XVDR for XBMC etc.)

Piotrasd can you share how you got past the openssl/libssl requirement for tvheadend

just download from google :)

example http://pkgs.org/slackware-13.37/slackware-i486/openssl-0.9.8r-i486-3.txz/download/

Piotrasd - it's been a long time since I dabbled in VDR, an that was Arch Linux. Is Timeshift support gotten any more mainline? Is there anything we will loose moving from TVHeadend to VDR?

Thanks :)

Piotrasd - Thanks for all your hard work on our behalf. I'll look forward to the VDR release and better integration with my XBMC/hdhomerun config. :)

Cheers

Tolax

TimeShift working (but now more like Pause and play without seek functionc but i think pipelka add this to XVDR)

Other fuctions:

Live TV

replaying of recordings

programming timers

EPG TV Guide

Real Time-Shift (pause Live TV)

Use Enigma Picons as channel-logos

Support for playcount and last played position

Reporting of timer-conflicts

Is there anything we will loose moving from TVHeadend to VDR?

Im still will release new version of tvheadend package you dont must switch, im switch myself because for me more important is stability

from easy interface wich offer tvheadend. About fuctionality is almost this same, maybe Webgui dont have many possibilities changes in cofiguration

like tvheadend, in VDR we must provide changes in config files. Other rest, VDR have much more options because of many plugins wich we can install .

Hi,

Please can someone recommend a dual low profile dbvt2 (hd) tuner card for use in the UK which tvheadend supports?

Thanks!

Hi

This is new build of unRAID rc12

https://truck.it/p/Z5ZmFlCsMH

- added media tree

- added few new Firmwares

0rz.png

- vdr 1.7.38 with few plugins

(on the end of march will be final 2.0)

- fix for NIC realtek 8169

- added some tweek for more info in XBMC skins :P

0r-.png

Tomorrow more about that ;) and how run VDR

- and yes this is screen from XBMC ;)

I was just about to post and say, "where is this?"

I assume the dvb-fe-nxt2004.fw firmware didn't make it in (I'm going to have to learn to compile my own kernel, aren't I?), but I can at least give VDR a go. I've got a couple of HRV-1250 cards I could give a spin. Of course, I've got to learn VDR now.

Thanks for the effort!

Successfully installed and eagerly awaiting the VDR lesson! I'm looking forward to getting multiple streams from one card!!

Thanks for the effort, you are a gentleman and a scholar ;)

EDIT: On running for a few minutes, I get the dreaded "Transport endpoint not connected" error which renders my /mnt/user share inaccessible. This seems to be a common problem, the LT forums have quite a few people indicating this error. I suppose it's back to rc8a, which was the most stable for me until it gets sorted :(

Hi piotrasd,

Thanks for all your hard work keeping this plugin going.  I've updated my server to rc12 but now my TV Card isn't getting recognised (No hardware found)  It's a TBS Quad DVB-T2 6284, and the drivers are located here:

http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/common/tbs-linux-drivers_v130318.zip

I'd be most grateful if these could be added or which may be better, so we can all stop bothering you,  ;) if you give me some instructions on how to add them ourselves.

I'm very much looking forward to trying out VDR.  Clicking refresh on this thread far too much for it to be healthy.

Thanks very much

Yes i know, sorry that was media tree with drivers from DVBsky - today maybe im prepare with TBS ;).

ok in topic VDR

first copy folder from /etc/vdr to example /mnt/cache/.apps/vdr

1. You need channels.conf (channels list)

Some you can download from here ... http://channelpedia.yavdr.com/gen/

or just search on google some uploads etc.

2. If you use Diseqc you must setup file diseqc.conf

inside are examples for most popular sattelites - just you must delate # for your own

3. for run tap this:

/usr/sbin/vdr -c /mnt/cache/.apps/vdr -L /usr/lib/vdr -v /mnt/user/nagrania -P"dvbapi -B0 -B1" -P xvdr -P dvbhddevice -P dvbsddevice -P quickepgsearch -P epgsearchonly -P conflictcheckonly -P epgsearch -P live -l 3 -d

-c - mean please of config files

-L please of libs - dont touch this

-v please where record

All rest is for enable plugin and log into syslog.

Webinterface working on port 8008, login admin, pass live

for encrypt channels use oscam, this same setup like for tvheadend (you dont must touch config)

For connnect to XBMC use XVDR

here you find link to repo addon (this alwayes keep this plugin updated :) )

https://github.com/pipelka/xbmc-addon-xvdr/wiki

I know for some people on start this will be hard, because there most things you setup in config files not over webinterface.

But for me is much more stable withoutch any problems, i can record example 5 stream from 1 tuner and watch another one (from one TP).

In next build im try add Wirblescan plugin - for some people this will be good, becuase from XBMC they can will be easly scan satelite and

managing channels.

btw. if something dont work, alwayes check syslog, vdr there tell you what is wrong

tail -n 200 /var/log/syslog (for latest 200 line)

tail -f /var/log/syslog for monitoring live ;) (example from second console)

This page looks like it might be useful for generating a channels.conf

http://wirbel.htpc-forum.de/w_scan/index_en.html

Am looking forward to having a play with this.  Still haven't worked out an epg solution though...

yes w_scan you can install from packages for slackware.

this is command line tool for scan sattelite - channels

Btw. this is latest Tvheadend :)

Thanks, I'll give that a try as I suspect VDR is going to take some work to figure out.  ;)

I don't know why, but I can't seem to get any version of TVHEADEND working except: tvheadend-9247faa-i486-git_PTr.txz

The latest version tvheadend-20130324-i686-1PTr.txz seems to unpack fine when I replace it in the tvheadend_mod.plg file here:

<FILE Name="/boot/config/plugins/tvheadend/tvheadend-9247faa-i486-git_PTr.txz" Run="upgradepkg --install-new">
<URL>https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49442039/tvheadend-9247faa-i486-git_PTr.txz</URL>
<MD5>71fa28be87f88dc39ce2c04482760cfb</MD5>

I'm not sure what to put in the second line, but when I substitute the tvheadend-9247faa-i486-git_PTr.txz for tvheadend-20130324-i686-1PTr.txz it does appear to install, it just won't let me start the plugin from the unRAID Settings interface.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Or perhaps someone could explain the proper way to update the plugin with the new version of the tvheadend package?

Thanks!

Yees, dumptrack my last link use redirecting - so taget link is little difrent, solution for this, upload somewhere this new package or download manual to /boot/packages/

If name will be this same like in plugin then dont will be downloading package just install ;)

Does that mean we can use the plugin script, up to now I've always been manually installing the program.

I'm not sure what you mean by this? I've tried putting the new TXZ on my webserver (where I can see it) and changing the link inside the tvheadend_mod.plg file. When I run the "installplg tvheadend_mod.plg" is seems to download and install the new version, but it cannot start it.

I tried to modify the plugin when I first installed tvheadend but had no luck.  Just run it all manually now by editing the go file.  Would be nice to modify the plugin though.

On days i release new plugon for tvheadend with oscam include support.

WW help me :)

yes :) i hope for tomorrow will be ready, sorry for delay, im in last time rebuild almost all packages for "plugins" unraid in latest version

like python 2.7.3, unrar, sqlite etc :) (from package im delated doc, man and other stuff wich are not needed and take only space of RAM)

Here link: https://truck.it/p/Vq3zpArAKB

also on this link i will alwayes release new tvheadend and VDR packages
