VirtualBox Plugin for unRAID v5 and v6

Q: What other plugins do you have running? Please check that there is none that installs the older openssl package version 0.9.x. You need openssl-solibs-1.0.1c-i486-3.txz.

A: unMenu, plex, screen, apcupsd, openSSH, bpmon (or whatever it is called), and maybe one or two other unMenu packages, but the important one I'm sure then is openSSH because it does in fact install openSSL.  I will check to see what version I have.  It has an update feature I haven't checked in a while so it might even be ready to install 1.0.1c if it hasn't already.

Just chipping in on an old message... Re: OpenSSH installing openssl-solibs.  I can assure you openssh_overbyrn.plg does NOT install solibs or any SSL package. Just OpenSSH.  Can't speak for alternative methods (unmenu?) of installing SSH.

  • Looks like issue with 5.1.20 extension pack.  I see a brief question something like do I agree to these terms or whatever with a y/n? along the bottom of the GUI before a message saying install failed

overbyrn, thanks for checking in on this.  I also see that you sent me a PM on the same topic re: the github post I made.

So I do see now that you are right especially after reading your change log for all the versions of openSSH.  I saw a specific mention of removing dependency on openSSL and playing well with the likes of SF. The problem I think I had was that I did indeed have an old version of openSSL 0.9.x on my flash and loading as well as openSSL 1.x.  I can't back this up, but I think it was a remnant of an older version of openSSH.  I'm basing that on your mention of removing the dependency in the change log ;-)

In any case, to close it out with you, and clue anyone else in, once I removed the openSSL 0.9.x package the webserver started working and openSSH continued to work as expected.  The only thing left on my system was indeed openSSL 1.x which was installed by the webserver.

Thanks,

Alex

I had same problem. See here

Good, thank you!

  • 2 weeks later...

If I'm already using the SF webserver for an actual webserver is there a way for me to run php also?

I have manage to get SF web server install and on port 8090, got phpvirtualbox extracted to my root /www and configure the config.php and i thought i hit jack pot when the phpvirtualbox login pop up ( i left the login as admin admin) but i get the error "looks like there is no xml document" i;ve read the manuals but can seem to figure out why i get this. I will attach screen shots

Can anyone help a noob here I'm sure I got all the config correctly what I'm I missing?

what do you have configured in your phpvirtualbox Config.php file?

should be:

var $location = 'http://127.0.0.1:18083

or

var $location = 'http://127.0.0.1:XXXX - XXXX being what port you have configured in the VirtualBox Plugin.

if you go back a page or two you can see my config. I've tried both with the tower IP and 127  and port 8090 and 8090 in virtualbox

I dont think the webserver and virtualbox are suppose to use the same port... keep webserver with 8090 and virtualbox with 18083. then to access phpvirtualbox goto server ip:8090

checkout the pics that i posted on page 22 http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25715.msg277669#msg277669

and make sure that you have 127.0.01 in both the virtualbox page and config.php file... this part kicked my butt and was racking my head to get it going...

AHHHHH !!!!

thank  I will try that.

almost there..

closer.jpg.ff9c77aedd9e1209b58d99e449d7565c.jpg

that should be working - make sure that the vboxserv (virtual Box service) is running. I can start and stop from the plugin page, but others have had issues so they would start and stop from command line.

Yep did that from the command line. Try again and it gave me the same error I will probably reboot my system later and report back

I went back and looked at the rest of your virtualbox plugin settings, will you try something for me, change the "VirtualBox symbolic link (part of install package) - Change from default /boot/custom/vbox:" /boot/custom/vbox  to something else, i have mine set to /mnt/cache/vbox or something thats not on the flash drive, then restart vbox and webserver - retry login.

Did that I notice that on yours and change it to my cache drive

wybl.png

Here's another pic of all the screens with config.php - let me know what happens after the reboot.

[shadow=red,left][glow=red,2,300]And now we get to my problem. [/glow][/shadow]

<snip>

But when I go to tower:8084 and click on the folder I put phpVirtualBox in, "phpvirtualbox-4.3-0" all I see is an empty page (attached).

I had the same problem. Extra changes for your lighttpd config:

- Uncomment the fastcgi.server section, and change lighttpd/php-fastcgi.socket to lighttpd-php-fastcgi.socket. Also change bin-path to /usr/bin/php-cgi

- Uncomment the mod_fastcgi line

AFAICT "lighttpd stop" doesn't actually work. So I did "ps aux | grep lighttpd" to find the PID and kill it, then launched it again. I now get a login prompt.

Your instructions were very good. Thanks for that!

I think I got everything loaded and installed properly but getting an error in phpvirtualbox

I get the login screen then get this error

could not connect to host

You said you fixed it by setting the log file properly. Can you elaborate? Do you mean that vboxwebsrv wasn't running because of the incorrect log file?

For me, it's running according to the log file, but I still get the error above. From my log:

00:00:00.016569 SQPmp    Socket connection successful: host = 127.0.0.1, port = 18083, master socket = 12

I reboot as I was telling nacat78, except for me, i had trouble downloading all the files that SF webserver requires. What i had to do was install a different version of open ssl and then it was able to download the dependencies and webserver worked. However all that went down the drain when I rebooted. So I'm back at square one. Im going to try Dynamix webGUI and see that goes.

anyhow i'm keeping an eye on this thread i really want to get vbox working so i can have a few vm running and get rid of computers that i dont need.

Sorry took a long time, got rid of SF and install Dynamix, man was that easy, got a web server going and configured the php for SOAP and webservbox is running. I am still having the error cannot connect to 127.0.0.1:18083

@ijuarez

Lets double check everything again in virtualbox and webserver config files

/boot/config/plugins/virtualbox/virtualbox.cfg

# VirtualBox plugin configuration
INSTALL_ON_BOOT="true"
UPGRADE_ON_BOOT="false"
UPGRADE_PLG_ON_BOOT="false"
START_ON_ARRAY_MOUNT="false"
START_VMS_ON_START="false"
VBOX_SYMLINK_LOCATION="/mnt/cache/vbox"
VBOXWEBSRV_HOST_IP="127.0.0.1"
VBOXWEBSRV_HOST_PORT="18083"
VBOXWEBSRV_LOGFILE="/boot/config/plugins/virtualbox/vboxwebsrv.log"
VBOXWEBSRV_VERBOSE="true"
VBOXWEBSRV_LOGROTATE="0"
VBOXWEBSRV_LOGSIZE="50000"
VBOXWEBSRV_LOGINTERVAL="604800"

/boot/config/plugins/dynamix/dynamix.web.server.cfg

service="1"
path="/mnt/cache/www"
port="8089"
phpError="On"
error="0"
access="0"

phpvirtualbox contents dumped/extracted to the root directory of the web server - in my case /mnt/cache/www

/mnt/cache/www/config.php

/* SOAP URL of vboxwebsrv (not phpVirtualBox's URL) */
var $location = 'http://127.0.0.1:18083/';

after everything is verified correct or changes made if needed enable webserver and restart virtualbox

for my setup I would access phpVirtualbox Web Console @ 192.168.0.145:8089

All most everything was good except for this

VBOXWEBSRV_LOGFILE="/boot/config/plugins/virtualbox/vboxwebsrv.log"

for some reason i had put that on the cache drive, i don't know why. Fixed that and boom

see below. know i just need to get my windows 7 vm and i am set.

nacat78 thank you very much for taking the time to put it in a simple way.

No worries ijuarez, that's why we have the forum - for collaboration and helping each other out. Dont forget to set your preferences for VM image storage - default location is on the thumb drive.
