Are you by any chance using protected shares ?

Don't think so Though I'm not too sure what you mean.

fix had work, saw it seg fault again kodi just restarts over and over and crashing..  really annoying as I used this as my main instance to update media..

looking at the kodi forums I see they posted about this:

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=290259&pid=2411449#pid2411449

Looks like alpine linux(new default docker image) in that docker, which uses the musl libc.

Musl is not supported for kodi, so I suggest rebuilding that docker container against an ubuntu image or switch to glib

that doesn't explain exactly the same issue on an ubuntu based image of kodi-headless Jarvis.

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=42439.msg493789#msg493789

^^^ that image is ubuntu based, the only thing keeping it up is the --restart=always option in the run command.

take that out and the whole container crashes with the same problem.

any update? per kodi dev.. ask does it segfault without the headless 'hack' ?

it won't run in the docker environment without the headless "hack" or a frame buffer etc.

someone in the linuxserver.io irc channel is running a container with xvfb

I'm having problem with this docker. It shows that is running, but I cannot access it in browser. It seems to be installed properly and it is running. I specified Version = 16 in Environment Variables. I edited advancedsettings and copied sources.

Kodi headless stopped updating at some point

I do not think is browser related. I tried opening webUI in IE and Firefox and it was not successful.

I changed permissions too.

As far as I'm aware due to a bug causing segfaults that affects ALL docker containers of kodi-headless (not just our versions) this currently isn't working.  The posts above explain.

I'm get this spammed in the log. Any ideas?

Regardless of the segfault problem, read the first post regarding versioning, and how to pull specific versions.

Well you could read the post above...

EDIT:  But specific to those messages, are you using protected samba shares?

I'm not using protected samba shares but I tried directing the version to Jarvis by using "linuxserver/kodi-headless:Jarvis" in the repository directory and that seems to have fixed the log spamming.

Before I post my little problem I'd like to thank nearly everyone in this thread for all the knowledge and information that has been shared! Im running a few HTPC's with either Android & Kodi or OpenELEC installed. I tried to "centralise" the libraries using Emby but it just didn't work right. So I've literally spent the guts of 24 hours of the past couple of days getting mysql working and I think I've just about got it nailed but It seems i'm falling at the last hurdle.

I'm trying to get Sonarr to notify Kodi-headless when it downloads a show but I can't seem to get it working, I get the error Unable to send test message when hitting test or save (see attachments)

This is the advancedsettings.xml (that I have both on my cache drive in the kodi folder and in the userdata folder of my kodi HTPC). I've also copied the sources.xml and passwords.xml over to the config folder.

Can some kind soul please point me in the right direction before I literally go insane?!

Cheers!

If you read some of the previous posts you'll realise that this isn't currently working with any degree of reliability.

Haha :D I've read through all 18 pages here, and any other page with anything to do with MariaDB/mysql/kodi/headless etc etc. Just seems strange that my Kodi HTPC is now using the headless database but Sonarr can't connect. If Sonarr won't update it then this has all been for naught!

With Kodi continually having problems running headless (kodi's issue, not LSIO's), the easiest solution by far is to simply run a libreelec VM with 512M memory, and no passthrough.  It works perfectly with VNC, and then you also have the additional bonus of being able to easily run other scrapers instead of the stock ones.

If you've read all 18 pages how in the name of all that is holy did you miss all the talk on the seg fault issue?  ;D

Soz CHBMB. In my haste to get mysqyl/mariadb running i glanced over those seg fault posts once I saw my Kodi HTPC was working, my bad!

Thanks Squid, that sounds like a great alternative! Going to look into it now

To be honest it made me laugh, no need to apologise...

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems you are inputting "kodi" as a username in sonarr, correct? First off, the default user/pass in the advancedsettings.xml is xbmc:

<webserverpassword>xbmc</webserverpassword>
<webserverusername>xbmc</webserverusername>

Secondly, concerning the seg faults, I got the docker to stop crashing by copying Addons20.db from my 16.1 Mac OS X box (perhaps you can get it from another build) and set the below to 2 in guisettings.xml to prevent addon updates:

<addonupdates>2</addonupdates>

It's worth a try before exploring other alternatives. However, I do like the VM option as well.

He posted his advancedsettings.xml and he's changed it to kodi....

Yeah. Have been using XBMC for years now but since the name change I decided to keep it simple and keep everything Kodi. Have LibreElec VM up and running already and can see my videos over UPNP! I was a little concerned that using UPNP would just lump all the video into a folder (accessible thru videos, or so I had read) but I can see all my movies/tv shows/recently added episodes exactly as if I had added the shares directly. All achieved within about an hour! Thanks again Squid, my sanity has now returned.

+1

Squid...are you using Kodi (addon) to scrape?  I currently use Emby but wouldn't be opposed to moving this function back to Kodi.  Is there one on particular you like?

John

Nope.  Just use universal movie scraper.  But any additional scrapers are a pita as I recall to get working with a headless install.  IMO much easier to set up a libreelec VM and have zero issues rather than banging my head against the wall.  Just some more overhead in RAM required (512M)

Now if Kodi ever officially supported headless than the situation might be different.
