I also built zfs-2.0.0-rc6 for unRAID-6.8.3 & unRAID-6.9.0-beta35
 

if you are on beta35 you should update the plugin and restart to be on the safe side

You have been using the 2.0.0 rc version of zfs and need to enable unstable builds.

Hi @steini84,

at the moment I'm using zfs-2.0.0-rc5 for 6.9.0-beta30 and want to update to zfs-2.0.0-rc6 & unRAID-6.9.0-beta35.
Just to be sure...  maybe you have some additional hints...

1. first update to beta35 -> with or without reboot? With reboot, the zfs pool won't be available afterwards, or? So, I guess no reboot.
2. update the plugin (do I need to touch /boot/config/plugins/unRAID6-ZFS/USE_UNSTABLE_BUILDS again?)
3. reboot
4. keep fingers crossed during reboot...

Great to see that unRAID is finally adding native ZFS so this might be one of the last builds from me

 

And yes, i´m already using the new way of side-loading kernel moduels in this plugin

 

 

Is a reboot required to get the new update, or is the other way - delete and reinstall the plug-in - still working?

Remove the cached package then reboot

rm /boot/config/plugins/unRAID6-ZFS/packages/*

 

Is it possible to get rid of / waiver this error/warning?

I know that I'm using an unstable version, and everytime after a reboot this shows up and shocks me. 🙃

Yeah you can just remove lines 444-446 in the plugin. For example using nano 

nano -c /boot/config/plugins/unRAID6-ZFS.plg

I've made a user script with following content in order to run after first array start:

failure in user script (removed additional zfs)

Built OpenZFS 2.0.0 for 6.8.3 & 6.9.0-beta35

Since the plugin caches the install files you need to manually remove them and reboot if you want to upgrade 

rm /boot/config/plugins/unRAID6-ZFS/packages/*

I would implement a more elegant solution, but since native ZFS on unRAID is on the horizon I dont see the need. Also if you are afraid of the CLI this plugin is not great for you anyway

Does this mean we can upgrade to 6.9 rc1 directly?

It should be as easy as removing the ZFS plugin and upgrading to beta35 and do the side load right?

Does anyone know if they are also working on GUI/array support with ZFS?

Would love to contribute to the development but not a clue where. Unraid with zfs array support would solve all my needs!

I use it for my proxmox servers, though up until this point i only managed ZFS via cli which is still fine.

My unRaid only finds an update to the ZFS plugin from November, not your December one.

Yes. But to be clear I don’t update the plug-in every time I make a new build, only when I need to change the way we load the zfs modules. For example recently with the addition of overlayFS

Just wanted to provide a solution for an issue I had. 

Scenario,  I wanted to keep the standard shares and mount ZFS under the existing shares rather than using links.

 

The issue I had was that the ZFS would mount before the other shares and so when starting the array I could only see the ZFS folders.  I tried updating the /etc/default/zfs not to automount, but that did not work.

 

Solution:  User Scripts to umount when stopping array and then mounting when starting array.  This has worked for a number of reboots so far .  If it fails, I will provide an update.

 

stopping array script (nas is the zfs file-system)

#!/bin/bash
zfs umount nas

zfs umount fastdisk
zfs set mountpoint=none nas

zfs set mountpoint=none fastdisk

.....

 

starting array script

#!/bin/bash
zfs set mountpoint=/mnt/user/nas nas
zfs set mountpoint=/mnt/user/fastdisk fastdisk 

......
zfs mount -a

 

Hope this helps for anyone wanting to mount ZFS files-systems under the standard shares
