The default size of 1GB is probably far more than is needed as all that is stored inside it is configuration information about the VM service and any VMs you create.

November 17, 20196 yr Hi Guys, I've been using Unraid for years now, but only as a file server. Today I've started looking at Dockers and VM's and since I'm still a noob at those, of course I've run into my first snag. I also get the "Libvirt Service failed to start" message after enabling VM's in the VM manager. When I look (with midnight commander) at the /mnt/user/system/libvirt directory, there is no such file as "libvirt.img". They way I understand it, Unraid should create this file automatically when the VM's are enabled, no? What am I doing wrong? (Unraid version is 6.8.0 rc6) Thanks!
November 17, 20196 yr IMAGE_FILE="/mnt/user/system/libvirt/" Common mistake. The libvirt storage location points to a file, not to a folder. Add libvirt.img to the end of it in the settings

February 17, 20206 yr Thanks for the tip! I'll reboot the server once I'm back home in 2 days, since I'm worried I won't be able to log back into it via OpenVPN upon reboot. (Array has a password, so does my root account)

Wireguard would work better in this instance, however, I'd always recommend a backup method to get in to your home network. Router based VPN can be one way, a different way would be a pc with teamviewer or some other remote access package that runs all the time.

March 25, 20206 yr Hello, I didn't want to create a new topic as I'm experiencing this same issue with "Libvert Service failed to start" appearing. I've rebooted, I've tried to restore the previous Libvert.img. I've made sure that it's pointing to an img file as shown here I've included the diagnostics. What's strange is this happened after I downloaded the newest VirtIO Driver ISO after building a second VM. diagnostics-20200324-2258.zip

Nothing that I know of, would I just boot it without plugins? I see there's a no plugin and a no plugin, no gui option.
