I think that may be because of the switch to slackware current and the packages aren't static.

dlandon: Sparklyballs and [bRiT] made me a nice little script to get the current package found in slackware current.  Have a look in my github here..

May be useful?  Although version control is going to be a nightmare I think as people could then install the same version of Unassigned Devices and get different packages.

Perhaps hosting the packages on your own github would be the answer, at least giving you some control, but even then different plugin authors may install a different version of the same package.

Maybe we should talk to LT about this one?

I just saved the plg file to my flash drive then edited the file and updated the file name and md5 checksum to the 2016 version.  Then did a installplg from the command line and it installed fine.

Package version management has been a long standing issue with plugins.

New release.  Changed the parted package link to one that may be more reliable and updated the ntfs-3g package.

These packages don't change very often so I am thinking I just may update the plugin as necessary.  If it continues to be a problem, I may have to host the packages at my github repository.

I've found the packages have been updating a lot more frequently than in Slackware 14.1.  But I suppose that might just be the packages I'm using.

Thanks for the heads up.  If this becomes an issue, I'll look at hosting the packages on my github.

Hey Everyone,

I have a 5TB external hard drive thats NTFS formatted that I'm trying to mount. I installed this plugin without an issue, and it shows my one unassigned drive as mountable, but not the external USB drive. At the end of my system log, I have the following iness:

Mar 26 20:37:02 NeverlandUNRAID udevd[16273]: '/usr/local/emhttp/plugins/unassigned.devices/scripts/rc.unassigned reload >/dev/null 2>&1 & disown' [16385] terminated by signal 7 (Bus error)

I was hoping maybe they could give some insight as to why this might not be working for me?

I was able to get my drive mounted, but now I can't seem to browse it's contents using dolphin or Krusader. I can click directly on it and view it's contents, but that doesn't help me move/sync data off of it. Thoughts?

It would help if you would post a UD log.  Click on Help and at the bottom of the help text you'll see a Download button. Click on that and post the downloaded zip file.

Go to Settings - Docker and restart the Docker service. Dockers cannot see anything that was mounted after the docker service starts.

Go to Settings - Docker and restart the Docker service. Dockers cannot see anything that was mounted after the docker service starts.

6.2 Beta 19+ includes a fix for this, but in lieu of that you either have to stop / restart the service as trurl suggested or manually mount the drives via commands in "go".  By far the easiest solution is to stop / restart.

Worked like a charm! Thank you for the info!

What is the most common use case for using this plugin?  I've seen references of running dockers and VMs from it, but given how relatively cheap SSDs are for cache drives, it seems far easier to just use cache-only shares for that.

Is it for cases where you don't want to involve perf hit from using the array or involving the parity drive such as seeding torrents?  Since torrent seeds could be huge, I can see why someone wouldn't want to put those files on the cache drive (and the speed of an SSD isn't as important for seeding torrents).

Would love to hear about people's use cases for this.

Just wanted to say thanks.  Was able to use this plugin to easily mount drives from my old unraid server to transfer the data to the new server.  Will also put it to use for a deluge docker as my ssd is relatively small compared to my old, now unused, cache drive.

It wouldn't surprise me if most use it like I do, but since my use case is very simple it doesn't get a lot of discussion. I just use it to plug in external drives to copy to/from my server. This is how I create backups of critical files for offsite storage, for example.

Is there some kind of GUI way to copy files with this or some other method? I can use this to mount a drive but in order to copy files from a drive to an array I have to use the terminal which does not show progress and even if I used another tool to copy that does show progress, I can't check on it from the webUI.

Midnight Commander is builtin and it shows progress.

Attached is MC (Midnight Commander) moving my files from Disk8 to Disk9 for my ReiserFS to XFS migration.

Oh, right, I forgot. But is there a webui plugin for it or is it just through the terminal? I can deal if there isn't. It will just be easier to monitor remotely if there is.

You mean like telnet? I run totally headless most of the time and so my "terminal" is just any PC on my network running PuTTY.

I use the Krusader docker:

This will give you a "regular" file explorer and works well IMO.  There is one (major) problem at the moment and that is that docker won't see any drives mounted, so you'll need to restart the docker service so that you can access any attached drives mounted through Unassigned Devices.  Of course, if you just want to move things around the regular unraid drives, this is no problem.

Also take a look at Dolphin, offers a similar experience.

Thanks, that's more like what I'm looking for and it seems that I shouldn't need to restart Docker if I am using the latest beta.

I can't seem to figure out how to get my drive to mount as R/W. Every time I try to do something I end up with a "Read-only file system" message. It's an ntfs drive.

Look at the UD log.  A Windows ntfs drive will not mount r/w under some circumstances.  The log will show the mount error before it is mounted r/o.
