  1. With all due respect man, this is unwarranted. We take security very seriously. Case in point: totally dropped development last month to incorporate CSRF protection as fast as possible and it was a hell of a lot of work. We are team of 2 developers in unRAID OS core, and one of us can only spend half time at it because of other hats that must be worn. Reality is 99% of CVE's do not affect unRAID directly. Many are in components we don't use. Many apply only to internet-facing servers. We have always advised, unRAID OS should not be directly attached to the internet. The day is coming when we can lift that caveat but for now VM's can certainly serve that role if you know what you are doing. If you find a truly egregious security vulnerability in unRAID we would certainly appreciate an email. We see every one of those, whereas we don't read every single forum post. 2. For parity to remain valid every sector on the added disk needs to contain zeroes. If this is not the case then parity does not remain valid when adding the disk. Parity can only be made valid by doing a parity build that reads every sector off every disk as part of the parity rebuild process. That is why the normal process of adding a disk (that is not already pre-cleared) initiates a 'clear' phase to write zeroes to every sector on the disk being added before it actually makes it ready for use reading up on how parity works in the online documentation might help you understand this better.

  3. CA Auto Turbo Write Mode A simple plugin which will automatically enable or disable Turbo Write Mode (aka reconstruct write mode) based upon the number of drives which are currently spinning. Turbo Write Mode can significantly increase the write speed to your protected array (my system it doubles it). See This Post for a discussion about it. Note that unRaid's setting of Automatic does not enable / disable turbo mode based upon the number of drives spinning. unRaid's setting of "Automatic" simply disables turbo write mode. CA Auto Turbo Mode also has a feature where you can enable or disable Turbo Mode on a set schedule. For instance to always to have it enabled when mover runs, etc. Full help text is available within the plugin Install it via the Apps tab (Community Applications). Either search for turbo or you can also find it within the Additional CA Modules section CA Auto Turbo Mode also has a feature where you can enable or disable Turbo Mode on a set schedule. For instance to always to have it enabled when mover runs, etc.

  4. Hi There must be someone here that plays counter-strike global offensive First let me tell you about my system I7 6800K MSI x99 Gaming7 Corsair 2x16GB 2400mhz memory 2x MSI 720GT Asus Strix 1060 3x 3TB WD RED 2x 250GB Evo 850 SSD 1x 250GB EVO 850 SSD (outside array only for win10 gaming VM) Im running 2x win10 vm's one on the cache pool and another on a ssd outside array as my gaming vm I've been running my setup since september with no issues until 2 weeks ago when i started getting kicked out of the game with this error "An issue with your computer is blocking the VAC system. You cannot play on secure servers. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2117-ilzv-2837 " I've tried everything in this link but i have two commands thats always returns successful but should return error, this is as well causing issues with faceit cheat client as is crashes and they say i should run the debug off command to fix it but it always returns successful bcdedit /debug off bcdedit /deletevalue nx I've even gone so far to format my vm and put in new ssd and new vm but with same results. I came across this when i was trying to find solution on the internet https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/9/135510393198367927/ So it seems that Valve have decided to put virtual machines on a black list so if the vac system detect your running cs on a virtual machine you get kicked out. Is there any way for me to fix this or is my beautiful unraid system unusable

  5. Fixed. But strange though... Only affected if started through the GUI..

  6. Glad to hear about HTTPS support coming. Some other suggestions: - Have a default root password vs just blank. - Force password to be changed on first login. - ssh key support in the web interface.. more advanced users can do this today. - Run docker as its own user - Run KVM as its own user - Create a separate user account for the web interface that isn't root so you are not passing root creds over the network (although ssl sorta addresses this) Even with that you should never stick an unraid box on a DMZ port. It's use case is inherently less secure than say a web server due to the attack landscape it exposes. (smb etc) Always use docker containers and only forward specific ports to it. Try and always use ports that are not default. Plex example: Use port 34121 on your router that points to 32400 on your internal plex docker. That way if some plex vuln comes out you have a little time to address it. The baddies will be scanning 32400 looking for them. YES you can still find it but that requires a full port scan on you and that is a lot slower then looking for plex by 32400. Another pro tip: Don't open SSH to your unraid server from the internets. If you really need to be able to ssh into your house create a small VM that you can use to connect to. Or better yet install the openvpn docker and connect that way. Never have direct connectivity on any port to your unraid box from the interwebs... always use a docker

  7. Wait, so you are accessing this box through a public IP? If unraid isn't behind a firewall, it was probably hacked in the first few seconds when it was booted up.

I have this same motherboard and I totally missed the VT-d setting even though I was looking through the BIOS for it.

  9. They wont make any difference there, that's your disks max speed, it may make some during a parity check.

  13. It can be, since each 10GbE can push 1GB/s and max usable bandwidth of a PCIE 2.0 x4 slot is around 1.6GB/s, but only if would use both ports simultaneously and your hardware is capable of reaching those speeds.

See this post and this. Update on 23.10.2015 There is an new version of Avago (former LSI) P20 (20.00.04.00) which seems to be OK with unRAID. See this post. Update on 15.09.2015 User opentoe found out that the DELL IT firmware is also working with unRAID. It's your decision what to flash. Flashing DELL firmware is easier and supported by DELL! opentoe's verdict on DELL IT or Avago (former LSI). Update on 07.06.2016 There is a new firmware from Avago. P20.00.07.00 The toolset has been updated accordingly. Added alternative ways to extract controller info if MegaCli is not working. https://www.mediafire.com/?9cbklh4i1002n23 MD5: 7d90f84c831e8b939c5536d9eb03ba81 Update on 23.02.2017 Firmware is still P20.00.07.00 Uses sas2flsh through the whole process. Tested on a "backflashed" H200, to be confirmed on a stock H200 card and on H310's. Card backup is now dumping the full flash. This can be used to restore the initial condition of the card. Added script for automatic SAS address extraction. No reboot necessary any more. https://www.mediafire.com/?0op114fpim9xwwf MD5: 2fbe3d562846e493714a9e8ac3f15923 Due to missing UEFI environment, no changes nor testing with UEFI shell. Update on 30.03.2017, v2 Firmware is still P20.00.07.00 Spiced up the routines with some checks to automatically select the right tool if one is not working. Tested on a stock H310 as well as a H200 - works for me. Post your experience in the forum. https://www.mediafire.com/?6b77v4s7czluvs2 MD5: 6cb92336ff537aeb838085a028aa6601 Update on 11.04.2017, v3 Firmware is still P20.00.07.00 Added files for use in an EFI environment. Untested due to missing hardware. Post your experience in the forum. https://www.mediafire.com/?9ovj2rxuaf43wv4 MD5: t.b.d. Update on 17.04.2017, v4 <--- this is the latest, use this one! Firmware is still P20.00.07.00 Corrections for EFI environment. Untested due to missing hardware. Post your experience in the forum. https://www.mediafire.com/?py9c1w5u56xytw2 MD5: t.b.d. If you experience the "failed to initialize PAL" error somewhere in step 5, you have to boot from UEFI shell and try again or use another mainboard. See here how to use UEFI shell (Kudos 2 Maglin). Make sure you read and understand the __READMEFIRST.txt before starting! If you experience troubles or something is not clear, don't hesitate to ask for help. You can help improving the howto by doing so. Chances are small but you can brick the controller!
