  2. That UPS will work fine as long as you don't configure it to turn itself off after shutdown. AFAIK, only APC supports that correctly. The default install of apcupsd in unraid will broadcast its status on the network, you can install apcupsd in your VM's and point it to the server's apcupsd port and they will get the power status from there. Set your VM's to shut down after a very short interval, and leave enough time for them to cleanly shut down. For example, if your ubuntu normally takes 1 minute to shut down, and your windows VM takes 2 minutes and they live on the same drive, then you would want to stagger them so they shut themselves down sequentially and leave a margin before unraid starts shutdown. Ubuntu starts shutdown at 30 seconds of power out, windows starts shutdown at 2 minutes, unraid server starts shutdown at 5 minutes, hopefully everything is cleanly shutdown before the 10 minute mark.

CA Mover Tuning A simple little plugin (mainly created for my own purposes) that will let you fine tune the operation of the mover script On scheduled runs of mover, only actually move file(s) if the the cache drive is getting full (selectable threshold) On scheduled runs of mover, optionally don't move if a parity check / rebuild is already in progress Ability to completely disable the scheduled runs of mover if so desired (Not sure if there's much demand for this) Manually executed runs of mover ("Move Now" button) can either follow the rules for schedules, or always move all files After installation (any guesses as to how to install the plugin?), the default settings are set so that there is no difference as to how unRaid normally handles things. This MB supports GPU passthrough on PCI slots 1 & 4 with PCIe ACS Override off, I was able to pass through a nVidia GTX 980ti on slot 1 without needing to dump the video BIOS with a video card also in slot 4 and the MB BIOS set to use slot 4 as the primary graphics card. This presented the only IOMMU grouping that allowed passthrough with PCIe ACS Override off - I haven't experimented yet with the different overrides yet.   6. Someone else using a Cyberpower UPS - this one in fact: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BUJBDLK/ Cyberpower 1300VA/780W - it's worked just fine for me for nearly 2 years now. It's also kicked in once when we had a power cut. It beeped away for a bit, then Unraid did what i told it to do and carried out a controlled shutdown. Job done!

Maybe I'll have the photos from all of my mobile devices point to the Plex download folder, but I'd like the option of still using Google for it's search and other capabilities. So is it possible to map a folder in unRAID or Plex? Is this more of a Plex config?

  8. Yes it works. I got around 500 Mo/s write speed to the SSD cache disk (write speed limited by the drive speed). It was not easy to set up a 10Gbe network though and I still struggle to understand how everything somehow works. On the PC side, I got strange behavior with one NIC used by IPv4 usenet servers and one NIC used by IPv6 usenet servers concurrently. That's one of the strange behavior of my network ATM.

  13. Figured out fool proof way to add additional nodes using multiple containers. I was not able to find the Storj container using community apps plugin, so here is how I did it: 1. Add repository (address field with red arrow) and click "Add Container" 2. You will then see the container/docker configuration screen. Here you need to delete the line with address (red arrow) and switch to advanced view in the top right corner. 3. Then switch from Host to Bridge 4. Add storage location again (you have to use separate folders for each storj container/ docker) and the network ports you plan to use (I used a field of 4 ports for each container: 4000-4003 for container 1, 4004-4007 for container 2 etc.) 5. Launch the docker, then shut it down immediately and edit the config file located in the folder you pointed to earlier. Edit the following fields: "rpcAddress": "yourdomain.ddns.com", "rpcPort": 4000, "doNotTraverseNat": true, "tunnelGatewayRange": { "min": 4001, "max": 4003 }, 6. Now you can relaunch the container. Everything should run fine... I have 3 running now... I think some steps are possibly unnecessary like deleting the storage field before reentering it as well as using 4 ports for each docker and specifying the tunneling ports. This config worked for me though, so here you go. Don't forget to forward your ports though the NAT and the firewall.

  14. Tying registration to a USB Flash device is both eleguent and a real pain-in-the-neck at the same time. First, there is a very technical problem it solves. In the case of writing to a parity-protected array, there exists the possibility that a device can report a write failure in a long queue of write commands. When this happens we must assume that the sector being written does not contain proper data. This means that any subsequently queued read command to that same sector must also be marked as "failed" even if the drive reports success, and instead, read data must be "reconstructed" using the other devices in the array. Further, the failed status of the device must persist across reboots so that reading stale data is not possible. This problem is solved by having the md/unraid driver write failed status information directly to a file (super.dat) stored on the USB flash device. This is done right in-line and synchronously with I/O completions handled by the driver. This is the reason we must insist that the USB flash device remain plugged into a running server. Next, using the GUID of the device for registration lets you totally reconfigure your server with new h/w and everything "just works". This is even more awesome when using Virtual Machines. For example, one can create a win10 VM on a dog-slow 10 year old hard disk, on a 5 year old motherboard, with GPU passthrough cobbled using ACS override, and then... Buy new h/w: latest Threadripper, GTX 1080, fast SSD for cache. You just plug your flash device into new server and unRAID comes right up. Next, maybe leave your old slow spinner unassigned, copy the vdisk.img file to your new SSD, make a tweak to the VM settings to pass through different GPU, maybe change memory/core assignments, and guess what? The win10 VM also boots right up and works! (Well there might be a little more work involved for this scenario but you get the point.) As for LimeTech going bust... we have instructions with several trusted individuals on how to release everything unencumbered. But as others have pointed out, you can always get at all of your data using other linux distros. Lastly I need to reiterate: IMHO the real value of unRAID lies in the Community of users who participate and help out here on the Forums. Somehow we have managed to keep the Forums friendly and inviting to new users. Of course there are, ahem, a few exceptions, but in general, it's a really great group of users here. (Again: thanks to all of you!)

Just a note for anyone that is trying to get Wallabag - I have finally had some luck with the official docker repository getting setup on unRAID. https://hub.docker.com/r/wallabag/wallabag/ For smaller installs, the basic version running on SQLite is quite nice. However, configuring it for me took some learning. When importing the container through CA, I mapped two different locations which were noted on the dockerfile: /var/www/wallabag/data was mapped to /mnt/user/appdata/wallabag/data Also /var/www/wallabag/web/assets/images was mapped to /mnt/user/appdata/wallabag/data Then I had CA create the container. Finally, I came up to a huge hurdle with the initial release of Wallabag 2.3.1 - it kept loading with no CSS - essentially unformatted text only on the screen. It turns out that they may have made a mistake in how your individual URL for Wallabag gets populated in the screen. So, I noticed that you can set that variable by editing the container. In the Wallabag container, click "Advanced Options", then in the "extra parameters" section, I added this line as it was mentioned in the Repo Info: -e SYMFONY__ENV__DOMAIN_NAME=https://my.wallabag.url As I'm using Wallabag behind a reverse proxy, I found that I needed my domain/name rather than IP address in that new parameter. Additionally, I had to change the "WebUI" to match the same address. Finally, it worked! Official Wallabag repo on unRAID, all nice and pretty. A little note of caution here as this post may exist for awhile, I totally feel like the DOMAIN_NAME issue is a simple mistake as the current docker build is only 8 days old as of this post. Changing that may not be a requirement in the future, but having to work around it was a great learning experience!

Bring up the Guacamole left panel menu (CTRL ALT SHIFT) Input Method = On Screen Keyboard In the On Screen Keyboard, use ALT (it'll stay on, 'pressed') then TAB, select it using TAB, then ALT again (to turn off) A tip I found too, is that anytime doing a copy or move, always best to use the 'queue' button in the pop-up confirmation dialog so that multiple transfers are sequentially handled. It's easy to get to the queue, I found using this it often mitigates much of my need to see the file transfer progress window. The 'Queue Manager' is easy to get back on the screen by using the top menu, Tools > Queue Manager
