  1. Is this a good choice for a first time user of an HBA looks like it meets the requirements any advice appreciated Dell H200 6Gbps SAS HBA w/ LSI 9211-8i P20 IT Mode for ZFS FreeNAS unRAID Listed for sale are what were originally Dell H200 RAID SAS controller cards that I modified for use with ZFS. They have been cross-flashed to Avago / LSI 9211-8i IT (Initiator Target) firmware version P20 (specifically 20.00.07.00). I also flashed the LSI/Avago MPTSAS2 BIOS ROM version 07.39.02.00 and UEFI 07.27.01.01 so that it is easier to access the controller's ROM without booting an OS. In addition, I replaced the full profile PCI bracket with a ventilated one to improve airflow over the heatsink. This is a full / standard profile card. LSI Avago IT mode firmware version P20 (20.00.07.00) MPTSAS2 BIOS ROM flashed version 07.39.02.00 MPTSAS2 UEFI ROM flashed version 07.27.01.01 Original SAS address preserved Ventilated PCI bracket These are based on the LSI SAS2008 SAS controller chipset and support PCI-E 2.0 specifications with x8 lanes. The controller has 2 SFF-8087 connectors, each carrying 4 SAS lanes. You will need a compatible cable to connect these to your hard drives or a backplane. You will need a compatible cable to connect these to your hard drives or a backplane. These cards are fully tested in my Supermicro server running ZFS on Linux (ZoL), but this setup is also ideal for other ZFS setups, FreeNAS, unRAID, Proxmox VE, etc. I have fully tested them using all 8 SAS lanes. Not exactly the HBA / IT mode adapter you were looking for? Check out the HBA section at my ebay store here. Feel free to ask any questions.
  2. Actually not really other folks may have had same issues and since you've achieved some success from some of the posted advice it will help others with the same issues
  3. Just curious I don't see the driver in your screen shot as it shows in mine? Is that normal 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Mellanox Technologies MT26448 [ConnectX EN 10GigE, PCIe 2.0 5GT/s] (rev b0) Subsystem: Mellanox Technologies HP 10 GbE PCI-e G2 Dual-Port NIC (rev C1) Kernel driver in use: mlx4_core Kernel modules: mlx4_core
  4. Hey John thanks again here is the zip of yesterdays diags homenas-diagnostics-20181125-1530.zip
  5. Yep I must have unzipped it before I posted I'll put up the zip file after work I was going to turn off my dockers to isolate but they are started for a reason was hoping the diags would show something maybe someone will see something in the diags when I post them thanks for the effort John! Oh and I'll post new and not update the first post 😀
  6. Anyone want to take a shot at what could be causing this, seems my drives constantly spin up and down while idle only dockers running are plex and pihole can't seem to find anything there that would cause it but I'm not an expert here so it's probably staring me right in the face homenas-diagnostics-20181125-1530
  7. Yes I have no experience with with cat6 or fiber for 10GBe the cards I purchased were server pulls 10 meters seems to be the limit but I think there are a few that may be longer but cost goes up considerably
  8. Mellanox Connectx 2: I have 3 of these cards and they worked right out of the box 1 dual port and 2 single port for peer to peer setup of 2 rigs to my unRAID box remember your limited by distance as these SFP+ cables are relatively short
  9. Anyone have ideas what could be causing this some days it will start but if I leave it going it crashes and goes into a state of the ui flickering homenas-diagnostics-20181118-1113.zip 16:09:30:WU00:FS00:Starting 16:09:30:WU00:FS00:Running FahCore: /opt/fah/usr/bin/FAHCoreWrapper /config/cores/cores.foldingathome.org/Linux/AMD64/AVX/Core_a7.fah/FahCore_a7 -dir 00 -suffix 01 -version 704 -lifeline 21 -checkpoint 15 -np 8 16:09:30:WU00:FS00:Started FahCore on PID 619 16:09:30:WU00:FS00:Core PID:623 16:09:30:WU00:FS00:FahCore 0xa7 started [93m16:09:31:WARNING:WU00:FS00:FahCore returned: FAILED_2 (1 = 0x1)[0m
  10. Great I was thinking along those lines of the HDHomeRun as I have PlexPass and I want to use my server as the storage device I read that Verizon offers one of those cable cards but still researching that option thanks for the input gentleman!
  11. Hey folks I just installed a firestick and set up my plex server up on it is there an app or plugin for setting up a DVR on my unRAID box? I'm slowly getting ready to cut the cord with verizon tv when my 2 year discount ends or at least make it less dependent upon

    Folding

Ok good to know, I took my GPU outta my box for another rig so will have to reconsider that move or set the other rig up as well thanks for the info all good

    Folding

I see so the passkey is not to secure the server as much as the account well either way my contribution will still be there so that's the point of this exercise. And I'm maxed out on the processor to see how hot it gets never had anything close to full load I have a kill a watt meter I'll set up and see what type of load i'm drawing my cpu is a 65 watt tdp part so all things considered it amounts to a light bulb being on not bad if that's the case

    Folding

Hey squid thanks guess I should be a little clearer wanted to hear some opinions on things like resource allocation and overall experience such as security and even power consumption I'm folding as we speak just looking for some insight seems to be working well I opted for the passkey to make more secure

    Folding

Is anybody folding with their unRAID box, I figure my machine is on 24/7 so was thinking of setting something up to help the cause
  16. Your mileage may vary but I have a Micro Center branded 16GB SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Flash Drive connected to an internal USB 2.0 port and I've had no problems whatsoever https://www.microcenter.com/product/487102/16gb-superspeed-usb-30-flash-drive
  17. So if I understand it right NMA is no longer active what free option is everyone using as a replacement for notifications
  18. Yeah its weird I have 2 windows 10 machines next to each other both on same switch and one will show the name of my NAS but the other will only work with the ip
  19. No last update was 6.6.0 rc4 weeks ago I've looked to see is someting else happened but everything else seems to be in order if I click on its icon under the plugins tab I get a blank screen Edit: deleted reinstalled and rebooted all is good TY!
  20. I must have missed the memo did the apps tab go somewhere as it's no longer on my menu bar?
  21. Will do, the thing is both machines were actually built in the same week both AMD both with fresh retail windows keys and one access's the server fine and the other does not open it but see's it
  22. Thanks for the attempt JB but mine came back correct will continue to follow in the event someone finds the holy grail!
  23. I have this very same issue but the strange thing is I have 2 pc's 10 feet apart on the same switch and 1 shows and allows access to my server and the other is the very same issue you describe above and for the life of me cannot figure it out
