  1. As my title states, does installing that Unraid-Nvidia plugin improve performance of VMs with Nvidia GPU passed through?
  2. Recently, my VM with GPU passed through GTX1080 experiencing slow performance. Frames dropping to 50 fps, but when I started, it was 100 fps. Everything the same. I just created a fresh new VM, with GPU passed through, experiencing the same results. Originally, Nvidia plugin was supposed to be used for my Handbrake, but I seldom use it. Can removing this plugin remove the error? Update: I just recalled, recently, while following an instruction on how to setup Gaming VM for use with Parsec, I did have to modify the boot parameters, and deleted some, to follow what's been instructed. I think that may have been the Unraid-Nvidia Plugin. Maybe that's the reason why the logs show that error. I've since removed the plugin from the flash drive, rebooted, and installed the Unraid-Nvidia plugin, and using that plugin, restored the original Unraid stock 6.8.3. Rebooted the NAS, and now, the gaming performance improved to 90-100 fps, near normal already. I'll need to walk back again to see if I've made other changes to Unraid. Thanks @Squid for pointing this out. Really helped a lot.
  3. Hi. My logs still getting full. I was able to successfully download a copy of my diagnostics just now. Please help point out what's filling up my logs. tower-diagnostics-20200605-2103.zip
  4. Is it possible because currently, my keyboard and mouse are both plugged into the single USB controller where Unraid is also plugged? I've lowered the memory, and cores previously, down to 8 GB and 2 cores, 4 threads. I've since increased the gaming VM to have 16 GB memory, and assigned 4 cores, 8 threads to the VM, even if I do not see it as necessary. A fresh reboot, still the problem persists. The following are the only items on my USB: Bus 001 Device 001:ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 002:ID 8087:800a Intel Corp. 5. Hi. Just to update, put an adaptor to my USB hub, and it still disconnects. Troubleshooting steps I've done: 1. Changed the RJ45 port the USB extender is using, with same results. Up to 3 RJ-45 ports, meaning 3 different Cat5e cables (in wall). Sometimes, it quickly disconnects after a few minutes, sometimes whole day passes by without issue. 2. Ordered, and replaced USB extender to a diferent one, though still generic, unbranded, with same results. 3. Changed where the physical USB type A is connected on my NAS, different USB ports, with same results. Upon following steps by Spaceinvaderone though, I found out that all the USB ports that are currently exposed on my nas, are from the same controller. 2 usb 3.0 at the back of MB, 2 usb 2.0 at tha back of MB, 1 USB 3.0 from motherboard (internal) to case's side. My next step is to order USB bracket, to internal motherboard 10-pin connection, and plugged it directly to 2 more internal ports in the motherboard. These may actually be different controllers as I can see my motherboard has 3. All of the above exposed ports only come from 1. Any other steps I can take to troubleshoot while waiting USB bracket to arrive?
  6. Impressive box. Would like to see how you can maximize that box of fun
  7. Hi. After unassigning the disk, I went to delete existing xfs partition. Selected the disk under UD plugin, assigned a password. I then selected 'XFS encrypted.' Formatted, provided the same password I set in UD plugin. Assigned the drive to the array, started. Now I see 'Unmountable: Encrypted volume present.' Ticked on format once again at the bottom of the main page. After Format, I see the drive has 14GB used. File system says XFS. Is this considered encrypted disk? What if I want to add another encrypted disk, and assign to the same share?
  8. OK. Thank you for pointing that out. Will take a look.

  10. Maybe because my logs is full, I can't download the diagnostics. Or where can I download it manually? Another problem, I don't know whether related or not, whenever I click on Terminal on upper right, I get 'Connection Closed.' Using putty works though.

  12. When you do this, and format the drive with encryption, when drive goes dead, does it mean it cannot be read by any other machine?

  14. I have existing disk, currently not encrypted. A share uses this disk, and this disk alone. The share is protected. I'd like to make sure when this drive give up on me, contents won't be readable. Do I achieve this using disk encryption? Can I do this on a drive that is in use?
  15. I have a GTX 1080 GPU passed through to a gaming VM. I want to ask if VM is turned off, does it eat up a lot of power? My other concern is whether it will have a shorter life span? If VM is off, is it almost as if it's not in use? Or is it still active?
  16. Hi. How are you using your 2 GPU passthrough? Is it for gaming? Are you gaming while beside Unraid NAS? Or is it remote? Can never get moonlight to perform well. I had plans of setting up a gaming VM on Unraid NAS myself. I was only able to get good gaming performance while extending the HDMI/ keyboard and mouse via USB extenders (RJ45) and HDMI extenders (via RJ45). Games played- League of Legends, Cities Skylines. Using Xeon E5-1650 v3.
  17. @LiableLlama, I'd like to be able to do this. This is great! Can you show me how? Whichever you are more comfortable with, PM or post here.
  18. noted. Will inject power to my usb portable usb hub. It has power input slot. Is this supposed to be 5v dc? BTW, other than that, is there any logs we can check for reason of disconnection?
  19. Hi. My NAS is a bit far away, 20 Meters more or less. I use a USB extension via RJ45. While gaming, occasionally, the keyboard and mouse will disconnect. I have to go back to libvirt hotplug usb, and attach the keyboard and mouse. The cable hasn't been moved a bit. I assigned 4 cores to this VM, as far as I know, it's not being maxed out. Sometimes, 3 days goes by without a problem, then this happens. How do I find the problem? Any tool to detect?
  20. Hi. I pretty much like the Unraid concept, having NAS, Docker, Gaming VMs to serve the whole family. Hence, I have a Xeon E5-1650 v3 proc, GTX 1080 GPU, apart from the 10 SATA drives for storage, and an nvme cache drive, also used for VMs. When no drives spinning, I use abut 80-85 watts. When Gaming VM is on, about 135-140 watts. When gaming, about 180-190 watts. Then, due to I bought cheap SAS drives, and them not able to spin down, I'm thinking my power will shoot up even higher. No idea how much yet. They haven't arrived. I will be repacing all my sata to sas ones. That will be about 8 SAS, and 2 SATA remaining. Any idea how to keep power low? How low for you is acceptable for a whole year powered on device? I pretty much would like it to be less than 80 watts if possible.
  21. Hi. I signed up at Grafana.com. I was wondering why username and password doesn't work under the webui of this plugin? [Solved] Sorry, got this figured out. u:admin p:admin
  22. BTW, I'm using a mac. I got this solved by doing the following: Using mac, I went to keychain access, under Certificates, deleted unifi. Used Safari to access the website once again. It generated a new certificate. Still, it doesn't work. I went back to the certificate, and under Trust, selected 'Always Trust.' This solved the problem for Opera, Safari, etc.
