  1. But what is your internet UPLOAD speed? Your friends will buffer if your connection is slow.
  2. Yes, however, SuperMIcro boards are quite picky about the RAM used on them. Hence the thread asking what other were successfully using.
  3. I was using some Western Digital RE 2TB drives. I didnt see any performance differences. Really the only difference is the warranty.
  4. <knock on wood> I haven't seen a single issue with any of my HGST/Hitachi HDS724040ALE640's. They are wicked fast too.
  5. Where do you plan on putting that server? It sounds like a jet engine. Also, most likely, the drivers needed for the array controller are not in unRAID.
  6. I have 4 x Hynix HMT41GU7MFR8C-PB in my X9SCM. I only paid like $65/each for them. Now they are $200!! These will work in your server and they aren't too terribly priced. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=D38GE1600S

  8. You need a "managed" gigabit switch. I use HP 1800 series Netgear GS724T switches in my house.
  9. unRAID supports NIC teaming/bonding/aggregation...whatever you wish to call it. But as the previous poster said, you do need a switch that can support it.
  10. I'm not a huge fan, but I am learning more about the sport. I love open-wheeled racing. Been a huge fan of Indycar since I was a kid. I do enjoy attending the Grand Prix in Austin every year.

    Remote access

I have switched to TeamViewer. It works almost the same as LogMeIn. <rant> I hope LogMeIn goes down in flames for the BS they pulled over the Free edition! </rant>
  12. From the threads' first post... Thanks...I somehow missed that!
  13. I already have two keys. Do you mind if I buy a third?
  14. Fry's consistently puts the 7200RPM 4TB Hitachis on sale for $199. There is also an external that uses the same drive that Ive paid as low as $140 for. These are only $199 right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145912
  15. <knock on wood> I can say that I have never RMA'd a Hitachi drive. Unfortunately, I know Seagate's El Paso address by heart!
  16. And thats why I have bought nothing but Hitachi/HGST the last three years. Only one WD left to replace:
  17. I have replaced ALL undercabinet lighting in my home (kitchen, offices, etc) with 5050 warm white strips. I used to use 120v "wedge" style bulbs, and I was constantly replacing those. I also used it on an outdoor umbrella. I need to take a pic of that. I even used it in the back of my truck!
  18. I tend to buy the 5050 600/5M rolls. They are crazy bright.
  19. I just solder ends on to my 5050 strips. In the long run, they seem to be more reliable in the long run. These are the ends I solder on: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RNHQ3S
  20. I will tell you that case has terrible air flow!
  21. I too started using voip.ms this week. I got a new DID from them, and Im transferring two existing numbers to them. They are offering free ports right now. So far, Im quite happy with their service.
  22. Thanks for this. I currently have a Windows Deployment Server running on one of my 2008 R2 servers, but I would like to boot other things besides Windows installers.
  23. It's a server...it's not meant to be turned off. I don't spin anything down either.
  24. Yep... Google voice is essentially dead in a few months.

    HDD storage

I like the plastic clamshells. Ive collected quite a few of them over the years. http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-PCS-HDD-3-5-ESD-PACKAGE-BLISTER-CLAMSHELL-BOX-ANTISTATIC-CONDUCTIVE-/161144230780?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2584f1d37c
