thank you, updating did the trick.

On 7.1.2 having a unassigned disk randomly "disconnect" every few days.

Maybe diags helps? Not sure what's going on but started right with upgrade to 7.1.1 and 7.1.2.

Any ideas?

One thing you definitely have is a docker container that is restarting itself every 30 seconds.  The uptime on the docker tab should tell you which one.

Because of that, I don't really see anything on a UD drive getting disconnected

Well that ain’t good. Will give that a lookey lu and maybe catch a better log in a day or 3.

Scrolled through entire list(twice) and unable to corroborate a container awry - what log can I look at in diag zip to see what you were? Is there possibly ANY more info about what container it may be?

Which had the shortest uptime?

Well some at 5 hours because I did some updates a bit ago. Not seeing anything with less than hours of uptime 😞

Does this mean anything useful? Still can't figure out why I keep losing this one disk. 😞

(A reboot brings this disk back every single time for a day or two - still not seeing a short cycling container)

Do you run things like kasm that are known to create children containers?

Yes. But I don’t think I have it pointed at that unassigned disk. I have not started that container yet on this reboot - I’ll be able to see if Kasm not running changes outcome.

The start/stops won't have anything to do with the drive dropping, they just make the logs a pain to read.

I'd mostly check drive power/data wiring.

Server was fine all weekend until sometime middle of the night when Appdata backups ran. Appdata backups dont run on Saturday and Sunday - when those kicked off sometime middle of last night is when the drive dropped again. Could be a power issue with drive? but it's a Dell R730XD and no other issues with any other drives. (Left Kasm stopped all weekend too)

sdl is one that keeps dropping; bottom one:

Don't know if this will help, but......I have had issues with my 730XD dropping a drive or 2 when I had spin down/spin up turned on. Never had issues until I turned it on. In my case, it was randomly a drive in my system, not specific to unassigned devices. Apparently it is the drive controller (H730p) causing it. I turned off spin up/down and haven't had any issues since. I have new controllers (HBA330s) for my 730XDs, but haven't had a chance to drop them in yet.

Interesting. Almost positive HBA330 is what’s in mine; where can I confirm? Yeah maybe it is drive spin up/down. Pardon idiocracy; where can I turn that on or off at? I’ve never had any issues until 7.X which is odd though.

Spin is found under Settings > Disk Settings. It is second or third option down.

My issues were under 6.x. My second server is running 7.x but I haven't turned on spin because of issues under 6.x and the controller. Was going to test it out on 7.x with the new controller at some point.

As much as I don't want to going to turn this off and give it a few days and see what happens.

Not sure if changes made here will affect "Unassigned Disks" though?

Also, where you mention it says I can go to THAT specific drive and change spin down delay however those options aren't present on a "Unassigned Disk" though which is why I wonder if the global Unraid Spin Down Delay is also applicable to "Unassigned Disks"

Unassigned Disk doesn't show spin down delay:

I'm having an issue where I cannot update either Unassigned Devices or UD Preclear containers.  In the Action Center I click to update either and it just throws up a blank white window with "Close" at the bottom.  Last week I tried to update and it wouldn't update, and when I checked the log it said something like Error 127, I think?  Anyway, here's what the logs are tossing out tonight:

Can you post your diagnostics.  That snip implies that it's already up to date, but something is obviously incorrect here.

Turning Off Spin Down Delay evidently isn't relative to "Unassigned Disks" in case anyone wondered:

This morning drive disconnected again. I guess I'm goin to have to have to try a different drive. EVerytime I reboot Unraid the drive comes back for a few days though.

Is there a way to reboot Unassigned Disk "service" or something manually without rebooting entire server how ever that might bring the drive back online without rebooting entire server?

This has to be around time Drive dropped this AM:

I was having this issue, even removed and tried to reinstall from CA and kept getting error 127. Last night I rebooted to upgrade unraid to 7.1.2 and subsequently was able to re-install UD from CA. Unclear if reboot or upgrade was the fix, but I had been on 7.0.0 I believe.

hey guys, quick question about automount.

i have a backup Truenas server with a mounted smb share that just turns on on Saturday. the share doesn't automount, is there a script or something that i can use to automount the SMB when my backup server turns on?

Rootshare missing folders.

I am using UD to make a rootshare but I am running into an issue where when data is being moved by sonarr, Krusader, or in the unraid file manager some of the folders are not visible from windows 11 but are visible in these other systems, when I go directly to the share folder in windows (not using the rootshare) I can see the missing folders. All of my shares are set to private with my main user credential being used for all access. unraid-diagnostics-20250603-1024.zip
