Heya! It'd be cool if there was a GUI way to remove mirror vdev from a ZFS pool. Indeed, I wished to reduce my 4 VDEV ZPool (3data + 1 special/slog), to a simple VDEV mirror instead. But the GUI doesn't show such operation. So I've to CLI the deletion instead after many resilvering. ZFS automatically rebalance the data the others mirror vDev if there's enough space, and this operation should be able to be done without stopping the arrays.

Hi, Just added a new drive my zpool for the time with the GUI. My concern is that I noticed that my drive has been set with MBR instead of GPT contrary to my whole zpool. I reproduced and still get an MBR. I suggest any format to be set with GPT instead of MBR, as MBR is kinda deprecated and put some problems with huge drives. Regards PS : I'm aware that Unraid will format with MBR for disk lower than 2TB. The problem here is that I've imported my pool to Unraid when ZFS has been officially supported. This kind of behaviour could concerns any ZFS users who did so, and could probably be troubleshooting for some raidz with disks lower than 2TB if a same vdev is mixed with GPT and MBR.

No-no, I meant a 3 mirrors stripped. Another Special mirror and a last Slog mirror. I did a mistake as thinking about future OpenZFS 2.4 Special/Slog. However, i'll be simpler with this.

The newer hardware is actually pretty old. You’d better consider a raidz1 with an hot-spare if you’ve no other drives available. A raidz2 won’t let you more time and stress the drives harder regarding having only 4 drives. For production, the array with a cache NVMe sounds good. Just think about a script to move your datas to your ZFS pool after some time if not done manually.

Set VLAN 10 for Unraid GUI, VLAN 20 for your VM, both tagged. Set so on your switch and your router with separate networks ofc. Check if Unraid and VM are then accessible.

I agree, raidzX isn't good for VM. Prefer a stripped mirror (RAID 10) for VM. That's a usual practice above any raid or filesystem solution.

Set your usb key to MBR before using the flashing tool, and launch the make_bootable bat as admin Enable CSM, disable secure boot, you can’t enable secure boot on Unraid, you must be a fanatic as I to enable Secure Boot with Unraid

Indeed, this ticking noise is the sign of drive failure usually.. Hammer is a good option too.

I'd agree, but I don't expect Limetech to give ZFS tools this easily to ignoramus and then support their rookie mistakes..

Well, SATA isn't bad, but you still can get a mirror NVMe for nearly 50€ if your motherboard can handle it. Just check your SATA SSD wear state before.

Are these SSD NVMe or SATA? I'll set NVMe devices as Special Mirror vdev to speed up Raidz2 index.
