I doubt I have much use for ZFS in my media shares but I can see that the snapshots would be very handy for backing up my cache share. Ive seen a script to automate snapshots on a schedule but haven’t found a good way to restore from snapshots. Is there a plugin or docker that would make this process easier?

For drives to be added to the unRAID array they must first be cleared by writing zeros to every sector of a drive. In the past the array had to be off-line during this process. Thus users would pre-clear the drive before adding it to the array in order to avoid an extended off-line period for their server. It is no longer necessary to take the array off-line. The clearing process is now done in the background, so pre-clearing is not really necessary now but many users like to pre-clear a new drive in order to stress test it. A pre-clear will write and read to every sector of a new drive as many times as you like (I usually run 3 cycles). This will put a fair amount of stress on a drive and probably reveal any faults. Of course the drawback to this is that with large drives each cycle can take a week or more so it’ll be a while before you get to use the drive.

This isn’t really needed to format a drive. Only to pre-clear it.

Did you also install UD+? IIRC you must install both.

Running any of them on your router would give you secure access to the LAN if the router supports it. Fairly sure there is also a zero trust docker that would let you point a cloudflare tunnel to your unRAID server. I personally use an OpenVPN server running on my router.

This is a really bad idea. You’re basically giving access to everyone. A cloudflare tunnel, OpenVPN or wireguard would be much better. Also, the LAN Network setting should be in the format xx.xxx.xxx.xx/xx.

While the features this plugin offers would be great, using this plugin would be a bad idea. It hasn’t been updated in more than 2 years and has many open issues with no attempt at resolution. It has obviously been abandoned.

Actually I think it started with 6.11. I just upgraded to 6.12 yesterday but been getting callback trace warnings from FCP for this issue starting about 6 months ago while I was still on 6.11. From what I have read there is some speculation that it’s a kernel problem but I don’t think anyone knows for sure. No real pattern so far.

Looks ok. The container path will be /data. Same container and host path in both dockers that way when the download client tells Radarr that the download is in /data/etc/etc Radarr will also have access to the same path and know where the download is.

In Radarr docker /data should be the download location not the appdata location. This also must exactly match the path in your download client (host and container). Example: Radarr- /data:/mnt/user/downloads/ qbittorrentvpn- /data:/mnt/user/downloads/ If you want to use /data:/mnt/user/appdata/data/ for your downloads then you’ll need to create this same host and container path in your download client.

Saw this in console but not sure of the cause or how to fix it- brunnhilde-diagnostics-20230710-2303.zip

This is likely your problem. You just need to get an up-to-date certificate.

You’ll need to delete whatever partitions are on them using UD+ and then you should see a preclear icon. Once you select it you’ll get options for how many cycles and how often you want notifications.

Preclears are no longer required to add the drive to your array. The UI will clear the drive for you. If you want to test a new drive by running a few cycles then this is probably the easiest way. It really is just a few clicks.

If you format the drive outside the array you’ll need to clear it again when you add it to the array.
