Losing two devices out of four is serious but if you didn't start the array in that condition I would not expect you to lose any data, but one can never be sure. What RAID level are you running - I assume 1 or 10?

I'd power down and check the cables first. Then power up and reassign the two SSDs, if necessary. btrfs should run a balance when you start the array.

That is probably the clue. The SATA and/or power cables probably got disturbed. Samsung SSDs are incredibly fussy about their SATA cables at the best of time.

I'd just schedule it for once a month, making sure it doesn't clash with the parity check. I think checking every file every week is too often, which is why I check a quarter of mine each week (so each file gets checked once every four weeks and I'm simply splitting the load), but YMMV.

That's what I do. I don't check all disks every week though. A quarter of them are checked each week.

What does htop show? The threads are probably spending most of their time waiting for I/O.

Did it really have a space in the name? Could thst be what's throwing the creator tool?

That's not very constructive. It works well for me, apart from the problem with the cron job not running, mentioned above. If you've experienced problems perhaps there's an underlying issue with your server that needs to be fixed.

What are the "offending files"? Are they mostly static or are they temporary or updated regularly? The plugin works well for files than seldom change. Temporary files and those that change over time are best excluded.

It will because the plugin is broken at the moment. It's a trivial thing to fix but bonienl is a busy guy.

Because it isn't fully supported by Unraid. You need more than a hot-pluggable drive bay to support hot-swapping so you might have to forego some convenience for reliability.

If you post your configuration or your docker run command someone might spot something that isn't quite right.

Well, it isn't your syslog that's growing out of control so it's probably worth checking those container mappings again. You could have misspelt one or got the case wrong. Suppose you have a user share called "Downloads" but your container mapping points to /mnt/user/downloads instead of /mnt/user/Downloads - that will write to the root FS instead of to disk.

What kind of files cause that "annoying" message? Executables? Application installers? Surely not regular media files. I wouldn't run an executable file across the network anyway so I'd be pleased that the warning message had popped up to tell me that I'd double clicked the wrong file.

Most Unraid users run headless and don't really care about screen blanking. Those who have a monitor attached just press a key and the screen comes to life. Good luck with your search.

Yes, you would. Make a USB key and sign up for a month's free trial and see if one of them will boot - you'll need to set up the USB for UEFI boot mode. The trouble with old Mac Pros is that they only officially support four hard disks, though you could probably fit two more in the optical drive bays. So they are rather bulky for the storage capacity they offer. Incidentally, Unraid boots from a USB flash device and runs entirely in RAM so all drive bays are available for storage. Give it a try and see how you get on. I'm in a similar position with my MacBook Pro that can't be updated beyond High Sierra. To be honest, Mojave and Catalina don't offer anything I need - the changes are superficial and simply make macOS even more like iOS. I'm OK with High Sierra while Apple keeps supplying security updates - so, maybe another year to go? Trouble is Apple doesn't make anything that would even come close to replacing what I've been using for almost 10 years. I've got 2 TB (HDD) + 250 GB (SSD) of internal storage configured as a fusion drive, a battery I can replace (I'm on my third, and my second cooling fan) and RAM I can upgrade (done that too), with a real gigabit Ethernet port and a MagSafe charging port. There's no Retina display or USB 3 but I have a mini Display Port and FireWire 800!
