[Support] binhex - Plex Pass

Featured Replies

Update: I was able to bypass the code by adding /mange to url and it let me in to finish the setup process and now when I click on docker webUI it loads fine. However it is still not showing the ip/port info.

I recently did a clean install of plex-pass on Unraid. After launching the docker I get no IP and when I try to go to the webUI I just get code. Network was set to host on install and all other settings left on default other then pass claim, GPU id.

Here is the code I get when trying the webUI.

Can't Access as Media Server/Device in Windows Explorer or with my AVR's Network Music Player
I was previously running a Plex server on an M1-MacMini and with some help, I've set up the binhex-plex Plex Servee docker on my Unraid server which is all working fine but the new instance of Plex does not show up for my Pioneer AVR as a network music server/source like the Mac Plex server does. It also does not appear as a media device in Windows Media Devices (which the Mac Plex does). In the Plex settings I have enabled local network discovery (GDM) and set Secure connections to preferred. The person who helped me set this up is no longer available for help and I'm really lost trying to figure out how to get this working. Any help is appreciated.

I'd had some troubles with Plex after making sweeping library changes. Only one library's content still played, and I knew it was time for a total reset. So, this morning I burned down my Plex Inc PMS and replaced with binhex-plexpass. First just a tester to make sure there wasn't something wrong with docker/unraid/my files...

I figured my plexdb was trashed, so I got rid of the old configs using appdata cleanup before installing. I could've just brought up the official pms again, but since most of my other apps are binhex I figured "why not?" I had a time getting qsv working initially, but restarting unraid after adding the device in the container's settings seems to have gotten that sorted. I recall having to do so when I was using an nvidia gpu, but didn't think of it this time around...

And then there was "transcode directory"...

I initially didn't mess with it at all because my main concern was just getting a working install again. When I did, I had trouble getting this set up and it was causing OTA tv to fail. Probably would've stopped non-ota streams, but didn't check that. Anyways, with binhex's docs I got it worked out.

The answer is here> https://github.com/binhex/documentation/blob/master/docker/faq/plex.md

And the moral of the story is be careful using containers or templates from various sources, because their differences will catch you out. Oh, and read the dang docs!

Has anyone using an Arc a380 for transcoding start experiencing poor performance from it after the last Plex update? If I switch to my igpu (AMD Raphael) transcoding performs just fine.

I'm getting this same issue, did you ever figure it out?

I'd recommend updating this template to directly set library paths instead of a generic Media one. I was unable to get Plex to scan my media because I couldn't select any folder from the Plex UI within the Media folder I had mapped. I could only select the parent Media folder and not Media/Movies or Media/TV

After directly creating a mapping to the container all the way to "Movies" and "TV" it worked fine

Selecting sub folders should be possible, if not you should troubleshoot that issue.
to have a Media folder mapped or explicit folders for each Plex library is a personal preference. You can always modify the template to suit your needs. Personally I don’t think it adds value to change the original template as you’d hit the same challenge if you create any additional libraries, e.g. separate libraries for 1080p and 2160p movies with host folders in a sub-folder structure.

Hi everyone!

My plex container seems to have borked itself since last night. Looks like an update occured last night, however installing a pervious version doesnt seem to fix it.

This is the logs from starting the docker

Is anyone able to assist?

Edited by Die_piggy

Hi, is there anyway to add audnexus to the container for audiobook library support?

thanks!

I am having issue in trying to create a music 'playlist'. When I try to create playlist from Plex client, I got following error.

"Something went wrong. Make sure the server is available and try again."

Any tip on what s going on here?

Unraid: 6.12.14

[Update] 12/28/24

Just want to provide an update on this topic so someone else may get hint if they ae in the same situation. After many tries, I decided to reinstall the docker. And I can now create music 'playlist'. I don't know what I did wrong previously but probably some settings were wrong. However the error message is not helpful at all.

Hi All

First i would like to wish you all Happy Holidays!

Here is the issue:

I don´t know when this behavior start but now when I try to play any file on my PMS using the local webui I have sound and subs but the screen (movie / tv shows) "plays" black screen. This only happens when I play the file on webui... All other players are fine. I am running latest version 1.41.3.9314.

Is the any tweak to fix this?

Thank you for ALL help!

Braz.

Plex via browser has always been a problem for many.  Usual complaint is that it will force transcoding even if it isn't needed, and sometimes will have it CPU transcoded even when a hardware method is available.  This happens on all versions of Plex.  Doesn't matter if on Unraid or not, who's docker container, even when installed directly on a Windows machine.  It is purely a Plex issue.

One thing to try is deleting the contents of your codec folder from your Plex appdata.  Stop Plex, delete the codecs, restart.  Plex will pull down a fresh set of codecs.  This sometimes resolves funky video playback errors.

I'm having a head-scratcher of an issue, and could use some suggestions.

My plex server becomes unresponsive after running for about a day, maybe a little longer, but the container is still running.  Over that day, the Plex server will consume all available CPU.  There is nothing going on the server in terms of activity (no playback, conversions, scans, etc)

The server is currently responsive, but if history has anything to say, it won't be for much longer.

Looking at my Plex Media Server.log file, I do have a handful of errors, but nothing I would think would cause this behavior.

Here's a sampling of the errors I'm having:

I've searched the logs for the word "corruption" but haven't noticed it, regardless, I did do most of the steps to repair the database as per the wiki.  I'm open to other suggestions.

Have a good holiday season!

EDIT: I just went ahead and deleted the `extrafanart` and `extrathumbs` directories everywhere, I think they're a hold over from my kodi/xbmc days and I saw a few references to those in the logs.

EDIT 2: Had the same issue still after the above, I backed up the database and am rebuilding it from scratch to see if that helps.

EDIT 3: Tried a new database construction, but was still getting ...less than ideal behavior. Eventually changed from transcoding to RAM to the cache drive, everything seems to be working fine. Curious if there was some change on the unraid side regarding the use of /tmp.  Will see if this server runs for a while without issue and report back.

EDIT 4: Nope, server is still dying after ~6 hours of uptime.... getting to be the end of the day my time, so I'm going to call it a night.  I'm attaching the log from Plex Media Server with debug enabled in case anyone else has a clue of what to look for.

Plex Media Server.1.log

EDIT 5: Saw my sab docker container had a HUGE download queue that was just ...stuck. sab was set to /dev/shm  If Sab was pre-allocating space on there, it would consume a ton of memory and I could see it causing issues elsewhere.  I've switched sab to use my cache SSD for unpacking, but it will be another day before I can see if the behavior in Plex Server has changed.

Hello @ConnerVT

Thank you for the support.

I have tried this but did not work. I decided to re-install the docker.

Wish you happy holidays!

some help is greatly appreciated.

New to Unraid  so bare with me please.

Tried the official Plex docker and can't get it to accept media libraries so tried Binhex version. Installed OK but when I open I just get a lot of XML script? Docker shows plex is running but I cant load the web page. Checked the log and I see  - Critical: libusb_init failed

Is that the cause. This is a new install

Solved: Re-installed Plex official app after deleting all appdata and it work.

Wanted to check to see what this appdata folder is used for:

'appdata/binhex-plexpass/plex media server/media'

image.thumb.png.3a9faa20ae45335467e21dfea811fb40.png

I'm thinking it is used for transcodes due to the size but I wanted to confirm here before I moved anything using the guide in the FAQ:

https://github.com/binhex/documentation/blob/master/docker/faq/plex.md

No its not for transcodes, its for metadata, and yes it will be quite sizeable, there is a way to reduce the increase in size by not generating certain metadata, i think it's thumbnails. but don't quote me on that.

Ah glad I asked then. Thank you very much I'll try turning off the generate thumbnails feature. Appreciate the quick response and all your hard work!

SOLVED - deleted items in codecs folder and let it refresh

Need any guidance if possible - I don't know what I've done as I haven't done much to the plex server recently except add a tv tuner.  A ton of the media on the plex server now never loads on any device I try to play it on (a tv, a iphone, computer, on or off the local network). These are the things I have checked so far or other comments. I've had the server up and running for over a year at least working fine.  Some media plays fine but alot of the media does not and just continues to try to buffer the entire time now even though the media can be played directly from the source file. Any help would be greatly appreciated it!

I do have this error in the logs as well when trying to open something -

image.thumb.png.6c418b6aa109a64bbcdf6c0cc734bc6a.png

1. I updated the docker

2. restarted the server

3. Played the media straight from the servers files outside of plex and it worked fine on my PC.

4. I do hardware transcoding.

5. Tried enabling DLNA

6. Removed the live tv tuner just to try it

7. restarted the docker

8. all plugins are up to date

I've attached pictures and logs below -

I started having an issue where transcoding is failing.  I have tried rolling back to an older version but no changes so I don't think the issue is on the plex side.  The only thing I think changes on the server side is maybe upgrading the nvidia plugin.  Just wondering if anyone has seen anything similar to this.  The only error I see in the logs is: `Unable to create output stream for transcode session, no segments found.`
