unRAID OS version 6.4.0-rc8q available

Featured Replies

While I like seeing all the new functionality being added to unRaid I would be remiss if I didn't say none of it belongs in what's being called a "Release Candidate" version. Perhaps one day standard definitions will be used for standard software terms. Until then, carry on with the development process.

"rc" means "really close".

The options are still accepted by the 'emthtp' script invoked from your 'go' file, but they are totally ignored.  All port assignment is done via the Identification settings page.  Also, no input error checking is done on those fields in this release so be nice ;) it will be hardened later.

So in future releases will the emhttp call be removed from the go file?

No still needs to be there to start emhttpd daemon process, just no port options.

The new file browser is quite nice @bonienl!

Were there specific problems you were trying to solve with this? Or are there specific things you'd like us to test?

So far the only regression I have found is with .mkv files. On 6.3.5 when I click an .mkv file, it is downloaded.  On 6.4.0-rc8q, it behaves strange... the page is reloaded with the header and sidebar, but there is no content. And nothing is downloaded (using Chrome) What I would *really* like to see is for the video to play in the browser, with perhaps a second button to download it instead.

Along those lines, right now the browser will display a .txt file inline, but it will make you download .log files or shell scripts or any of the other files that contain text only but have a non-.txt extension. This would be much more useful if there was a way to view those files in-line rather than having to download them first.

I'm very happy with development progress. Glad things are moving along and I can't wait for more features. However clearly this is very much beta, alpha almost. Props to those testing this and I eagerly await a stable release!

Upgraded to RC8 from 6.3.5 with no issues.

Two quirks I found:

1. GUI comes up before array has started so it shows the array as not started.  Refresh fixes that.  Not sure if a message saying "Array Starting" can be added. But no biggie.

2. For the SSL setup.  Kept failing and suggested rebind.  I then changed from Auto to No, re-provisioned and it worked.  Then changed No to Yes and it worked.  Yes to Auto and it worked,

Azure theme in the Gui is nice.

@limetech

found a small typo when help is displayed under settings->identification

for the Ubiquity router its labeled as UGS

__________________________________________________________________________

Ubiquiti UGS router: you can add this configuration line:

set service dns forwarding options rebind-domain-ok=/unraid.net/
___________________________________________________________________________

Its actually called the USG (Unifi Security Gateway)

and as side note to that I added that line to my config rebooted the USG and tried to provision the SSL but it wont I get this:

__________________________________________________________________________
Sorry, an error (403) occurred provisioning your SSL certificate. The error is: Your router or configured DNS servers are protecting against DNS rebinding thus preventing this SSL certificate from working. See help for more details and workarounds.

i am using Googles DNS servers in my USG so not sure what the issue is here.

The Browse function has been updated to show the encryption status of folders and files. In the process a couple of enhancements were made. Notably the loading of long lists goes now a lot quicker and sorting has been moved from the server side to the client side, which results in quicker sorting because lists don't need to be reloaded each time.

Yeah, this is a bug (not only for .mkv files) and corrected in the next version.

It is the plan to further enhance the Browse function, but I don't have a solution yet for this part.

Thanks, typo will be corrected.

After making the change there is no need to reboot the router, the change has immediate effect once you "commit" (also do not forget to "save").

I am using openDNS, but changed to google DNS for a test. Both are working fine.

appears resolved

Is there any fix for VMs which no longer boot when using UEFI bios? They were booting fine on 6.4.0-rc7a.

I think it would be nice if there were some screenshots of new featutes/GUI changes, makes it a lot easier to understand and is exciting!

server-diagnostics-20170904-1949.zip

Just saw in community apps that its cut off on the right, RC8q saw the GUI centred and might be causing this issue?

This is not an issue on a 1080 display, seems to be an issue on my 1440 display
