thanks for clarifying. From the wording of the message I thought the updater would make a "safety" backup if automatic backups are enabled.

I have set it to 30 days but none of the current backups seem to be in an automatic interval, the last two I created manually for sure.

I will see what happens next month, if it doesn't work I will run it via cron as suggested.

Backup was made in the recent 0 days or backup is disabled, skipping.

The 0 days are confusing me - At the time of the message the last manual backup was approx. 10 days old and I configured it for 30 days - should the message not say "in the recent 30 days" then?

The auto function only happens since Overhaul '25. It doesn't matter if it's auto or manual, both counts as valid backups and dates.

Update 2025.06.01

• Commit #450 - MINOR: Old variables used in benchmarking causing old values to be used if it shouldn't exists. Some benchmark results from "previous" run could be used for new devices with earlier dates not existing. Clear variables before each run to make sure it won't use data from different devices.

I have two Netapp 2.5" shelves, each has one row of 24 trays. They are numbered physically 0 to 23. I set the start count to 0 for both tray layouts, but I am unable to assign a drive to Tray 0. When I try to save, it stays in unassigned devices. Any ideas?

@Masterwishx make a manual backup, uninstall the plugin, and reinstall the plugin. That should get you to latest version.

• Commit #452 - MINOR: Issues where tray 0 can't be assigned. Check if tray is 0 or null and not just "empty". Minor bug fixed in Tray Allocations where the default selector would select 0 instead of "--" for unassigned devices.

i have installed this plugin

it will not show in settings

i have to go back to plugins and lunch it from there

i have uninstalled and re-installed this plugin 2x now

is there a trick to making this plugin show up in settings?

It's under the "Tools" tab.

always the same with this plugin, things like this happens atleast every 6 months, if it's fixt i won't be updating this anymore, or i won't use it anymore

It works now with one of the updates. I've had several updates since I got it working and haven't had any issues.

This may be a stupid questions and I tried to see if it had been asked. Maybe its the keywords I'm using I don't know, but this morning I got a my server and the I have a few drive locations flashing warning for the hard drives getting got. Of course the hard drives have already cooled down, but they are still flashing. I also cleared the notifications from UNRAID and they still are flashing... Will it just reset or do I need do something for clear those warnings that have been dealt with?

It will update every 5 minutes, typically. Warnings cleared from Unraid doesnt matter here.

Need to Allow editing of Unraid config in "Configuration" tab.

Not sure what is different with the latest version of this plugin, but I have a mobile stor device which houses 4 external drives that used to be detected by the Disk Location plugin. Now those devices do not show up. They are connected via a USB cable and show up fine in the unassigned devices plugin. I can (and do) pass on some as boot devices for VM's, and it would be nice to again see where they are located in the frame.

Always worked before latest update.

Is there any chance that this functionality can be restored?

Which version did you have, and which do you run now? It shouldn't be any difference in how it gathered devices, only how it's stored (in case of database migration). USB drives where never really supported to begin with, but if it works, then great!

I have way too less information from you that I can help any further. So the only suggestion I have so far is: did you try to Force SMART+DB?

Did you also check the first post and recommended posts?

Thank you for the response. Current version running is 2025.06.03. I am not sure which version worked in the past.

I have found some additional information though. When i check the attributes of the devices connected to the external drive bay in unassigned devices plugin, they all say

Unsupported USB bridge [0x152d

The interesting thing is that all of the devices that do not show up in the Disk Location plugin are visible on the network and are working fine.

I am next going to research the message above and see if there are options to resolve that, as well as checking the posts you mentioned. I am kinda new at this, so I appreciate the help.

FlamongOle, I was able to resolve this issue, by changing the smart controller type in Smart Settings of each device from "Use default" to "JMicron ATA pass-through"

All devices are now recognized in Disk Location plugin.

To get there: main/unassigned devices/device/smart controller type

Hopefully this will help someone else that may use external drive bays.

Small feature request. Can you either add customer warranty end dates or add 72 months for warranty drop down? Small niggle. Apparently the last batch of drives I bought come with 6 year warranty (1 extra) as per WD Support.

Looking for some help. I've used this plugin before the 7.x version and loved it. So after the 7.x upgrade, I have yet to get this to work again. I get the dreaded 'Go to System and initialize a "Force SMART+DB"' and no matter what I do, nothing changes on the dashboard tab.

I have even went back to the 2024 edition while on 7.x and the plugin works. After this I have just waited for an update on the plugin by removing the 2024 edition and then installing from the UNRAID APPS tab. But nothing is populating in the dashboard. I restored from a 2024 backup and nothing. I even reset the devices and click on Force SMART +DB again. I'm not sure what info you would need from me to help troubleshoot this issue.

It won't be implemented unless it's implemented in Unraid itself. Disk Location uses Unraid's info.

When I go to Tools -> PHP it states the following "LOG size: 0 B". I do have a remote log server that I did look into for S&G and did not see anything in there.
