This has already been confirmed by LimeTech as a future enhancement, but not for v6.12

  • I would definetly also want mutliple arrays. That would give the ultimate felxibility to organize the storage of the server. Every array with its own parity disk(s) would be an independet fault t

So now that there were talks over years, when can we expect it?
Are we talking a few months or rather >1-2 years.
Already looking forward to it :)

2025 at the earliest is one guess.

It is not in the 6.12 release so I would think late 2023 or 2024 is a likely timescale if it is treated as the next major feature to add.   Could be later if something else is deemed more important.

Not that I don't trust you, but where was it confirmed? 🙂

so 7.0 beta is out - any news on multiple arrays yet?

Not included for now.

Possibly for a future 7.x

No news was expected, but it is likely the next major feature to be tackled now full ZFS support is done.

Unraid 7.0 doesn't even require any array at all now.  I think it's reasonable to assume much of the internal plumbing that decouples Unraid from expecting/requiring one and only one array is already done, so the complexity of implementing >1 array is now reduced.

Having Multiple Arrays would be really great. I've been waiting for this for years.

I can't wait for multiple data arrays. I have 3x12TB HDD's as slow storage array.

For a while I've had 4x4TB nvme's in ZFS z1, but their performance slow down over time quite bad. everything I read of nvme + zfs isn't good.

Normal 3 disk nvme btrfs with 1 parity would be great. nvme speeds for single disk is more than plenty on my home network.

Based on the poll it might end in integrated backups before multiple arrays.

I absolutely welcome an integrated backup solution as setting up custom solutions like Kopia is quite advanced.

However, given the choice I want arrays first, electricity costs are ever increasing and I have a large server waiting to absorb multiple smaller ones.

zpool scrub of 4x4TB nvme went from 2 hours (50% used) to 6 hours (62% used) over the last 8 months. transfers reflect that as well. I so want to have multiple pools One for HDD's and one for NVME's

If you just want 2 separate btrfs/zfs pools, this has been available in Unraid for years.

This feature request is to add multiple Unraid type arrays (mixed disk size, individual file systems, parity protection)

This is something I could really use right about now as I just picked up a NL410 ISOLON which is 36 bays, machine works perfect with UNRAID but I cant have more than 28+2 in the array so I have 6 slots basically useless or run a pool which again seems a little bit pointless/waste of space/spindles... having another parity array available would mean I could run two smaller protected arrays and slowly upgrade the disks to get the solution i want..

I would also like the ability to have multiple arrays. mainly for data backup and archiving on the same system.
Array 1: 12 - 3tb HDD 2 Parity
Array 2: 3 - 12tb HDD 1 Parity

Any update from UNRAID here?

When this feature is not going to come soon, I will have to set up another storage system to migrate my data to bigger HDDs. But my next server then won't run on UNRAID again...

7.0 is in release candidate stage now.  Multiple arrays will probably be a 7.1 feature but nothing is certain.  I know its not ideal but perhaps you can use a ZFS pool on place of secondary array.
