This error usually indicates a corrupt Plex database file. You need to repair the database or restore a backup.

Hi mgutt

Which database should I replace from backup.

ls of /mnt/cache/appdata/Plex-Media-Server/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases gives me all of the following files.

Or am I doing something wrong?

  • I'm currently testing the last update available for PMS-Docker, the version 1.29.1.6316, waited 5 minutes for database migration : all seems to be OK even the 4k tonemapping while hw transcoding, cpu

  • You can ignore Critical: libusb_init failed.   For the decoder error, try deleting your CODECS folder in the Plex Appdata.  When you start up Plex, it will go out and download a fresh copy.

Hi, I am new to Unraid. Trying to learn as I go but I am starting from 0. I am having trouble accessing my Plex server remotely over Tailscale. Can someone give me an idea of what maybe going wrong? I can access my Plex server on the local network but when I am at another location and connected to Tailscale I can not access it. I disabled the Remote Access option in Plex Settings. Entered the Tailscale serve IP in the Network Settings with port :32400. Still not work. I have not idea of what I am doing wrong. I can access my Unraid server just fine using Tailscale but not my Plex Server Library. Thank you in advance!

My scheduled tasks are set 2am-6am and I've found that plex will get pegged at 25% cpu usage until I restart the service, then it's back to 0%.

I did a process of elimination every day and narrowed it down to the "Generate intro video markers" task. I set it from "scheduled task" to "never" for one night and I saw plex cpu usage drop to 0% at 6am.

Has anyone had this issue before? At this point I might just schedule a job to restart plex every day at 6am.

On unraid I can see the data stream and I don't see plex reading any sort of files, like it's hanging there. [Nothing in the logs.](https://imgur.com/a/dcv4rG7)

I think this is pretty normal. Plex is not finished determining the intro / outro or maybe you even enabled thumbnail creation. I would wait.

Is the issue of Plex constantly writing to the array still in the air? I had to shutdown during a power outage and in 4 days of uptime and not writing much if at all to the server myself, I'm at ~25.5mil writes and ~19.5mil reads. All the storage devices and cache are xfs.

Hey guys i need Help with Plex HW transcoding.

I tried every guide out there in the wild but Plex won't HW transcode i tried every container with a new config to make sure.

In Jellyfin HW transcoding works to a degree (audio transcode is like 25% cpu) on an i7 8700k

Plex gives me those with iGPU and Arc380

I tried in the extra parameters

--device=/dev/dri/

--device=/dev/dri/renderD129 and D128

--device=/dev/dri/card1 and card 0

--device=/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/renderD129

and the same when adding a Device

/dev/dri etc

Plex sees my iGPU and Arc card but still can't access it somehow.Screenshot2025-01-31160832.thumb.png.28958b304e1c98f2a5b4d9234794df68.png

Hope that somebody can point me in the right direction.

edit: finally got it running, changed UMASK 000, PUID 99 and PGID 100 to UMASK 022, PUID 0 and PGID 0 and now transcoding works.

Did you manage to fix this? I'm having those loopback calls show up in my console as well.

My media scanning isn’t working; I think I have a problem with a corrupted database.
I ran DBRepair.sh and the database is OK, but I still have the same problem: when I start scanning a library, it stuck.

EDIT: a reboot of server solve my problem

Edited by Sildenafil

I've got several recently added movies won't play in Plex regardless of the client (Nvidia Shield, Windows app, browser). Files play fine in VLC, confirming they're not corrupted. The problem only affects recent additions to my Movies and Documentaries libraries—both of which are film libraries. I have been unable to recreate the issue with any files that have been in my library for longer than a few weeks.

Behavior:

  • Shield: Button press sound, nothing happens

  • Browser: "An error occurred loading items to play."

  • Affected files seem random—no consistent pattern

Here are my most recent films:

  • Gaslight (new) - plays fine

  • One Battle After Another (new) - won't play

  • Frankenstein (new) - won't play

  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (upgrade) - won't play

Docs library:

  • Going Postal (new) - plays fine

  • Generation Wealth (new) - won't play

  • Come See Me in the Good Light (new) - won't play

  • Orwell: A Final Warning (new) - played successfully yesterday, won't play now

  • In Waves & War (new) - plays fine

Troubleshooting attempted:

  • Restarted Plex container

  • Changed the host path for the /transcode directory to /dev/shm

  • Rebooted Unraid server

  • Performed "Plex dance"

  • Downloaded lower resolution version (still won't play)

  • Checked for updates

Environment:

Suspect corrupted database. How do I fix this?

I looked into https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/ but I don't see plex sql in the install directory so it doesn't work in terminal - so not sure what to do about that.

I don't think that the database is relevant in this context. I would enable all debug logs. You can enable them in the GUI. Then start a failing movie and extract the logs. Then clean the logs and start a good movie. Now let chatgpt/gemini analyze them.

I'm having trouble to get the plex media server accessibale via ipv6.
Running the command " docker inspect -f '{{range .NetworkSettings.Networks}}{{.GlobalIPv6Address}}{{end}}' Plex-Media-Server" throws out an ipv6 address. But the server is not responding to this ipv6 address.

Other docker container are working properly with identical network settings. I'm using custom br0 by setting a static v4 address. Other container obtaining v6 adresses automatically.

The prefix does not fit to the working container.

Is there something missing in the network stack that plex is not processing router advertisements or dhcpv6 packets?
Or do I have to do some manual settings?

thank you so much - I use the general tab under the server to turn on debug and then use the troubleshooter to download all logs in that zip - which ones should i be looking at/providing? and how do i "clean" the logs? sorry for the noobish questions.

I never tested IPv6, but why do you need it? I mean, are you using Plex without Reverse Proxy?!

I would upload the whole file and let the chat do the work for you. If you don't want any server details in the log: Search and Replace all relevant strings with an editor like VSCode.

Of course I'm using an reverse proxy.
But I hadn't thought to forward v6 received packets to the v4 address of plex. I don't know why. Anyway, thanks for the hint 🙈

My plex docker broke so I started over. Everything is working fine but I need hardware encoding. I am using the official docker image of plex but when I go to add extra parameters "--runtime=nvidia" and hit apply this is the error I get. I even tried different version of plex dockers from ben and linux IO and this always shows up when I add the runtime. I am stumped everything was working until it updated the docker image from bens old plexpass from 4 years ago.

I'm running into a similar issue, except the container is fine with adding the extra parameters. It's when I add the GPU ID to the container variable that it throws the same error.

I just wanted to reply to this to say reinstalling the drivers in the nvidia plug in resolved this issue.
