Unraid OS version 6.12.8 available

Recommended Posts

Anyone running a 13th gen Intel & W680 board combo that has been able to successfully install this update? The previous 6.12.6 update resulted in loss of iGPU access and reboot hangs. Hoping things are better with this update, but also hoping to hear from others before I try again myself.

Is this correct?

Depends upon your point of view.

Since 2015, I've never even considered leaving an "empty" path on any docker template and instead of simply deleted the path from the template.

With 6.12.8, docker is now enforcing a specification and returning an error if you left an empty path on a template when installing it or updating it.   Since there is already a number of users with this issue (self-caused), the plugin is changing how the docker run command gets generated to ignore this problem.

There is NO bug with the OS.  There is NO bug with docker.  The plugin lowers support requests in the forum on what the issue is when all of a sudden they update their containers and they disappear.

You don't need the plugin if you have no templates with empty paths and always delete any empty paths on new installations from CA.

I have a White Screen after Login today on one of my Server with 6.12.8. On a another Device too. Yesterday are working this without a white Screen and show the Dashboard and Co. after Login.

Try logging out from the GUI, wait at least 30 secs, then log back in, see if that helps.

Reboot, fixit. I monitoring this in the Future.

about your posts regarding webui after updates etc ...

in case you also use chrome, its the same here ... the webui from unraid and chrome really dont like each other ;)

i pretty often have to hard reload the page too, F12, right click on refresh, clear cache, right click, hard reload, ... etc ...

may try this the next time it occurs ;)

Is the plan to change from USB sticks GUID? to using unraid accounts & server names?

Be nice to know what the plan is & what options are for those that may choose to not use unraid connect etc.

It looks very fancy just concerned about how strong it all is behind the scenes.

I've lost the system version label after updateing it, and both the update os and downgrade os pages are blank now.
Can anyone tell me what's happening?

Everything went back to normal once I updated the unraid connect plugin and logged back in.

Can you expand more on the issues you see? I'm not using it for Unraid, but my desktop uses a Supermicro W680 board with an i5 13500, and v6.16.8 appears to be booting and rebooting normally, the iGPU driver also appears to be loading correctly.

I did the update from 6.12.6 to 6.12.8 a while ago... everything went perfectly:

Ryzen 1600AF
MSI B450 Gamig Plus Max
16Gb ram

And many sata controllers to have 21 disks...

But after updating I saw this in the LOG:

1997472039_Capturadepantalla2024-02-19160831.thumb.png.610c56fcc7936ab712ce2e87a41ad63c.png

it has only appeared once after updating to 6.12.8... that has never appeared until today when I did the update...

What is it??

Thank you so much

Greetings

I was now able to activate ASPM for Realtek Network Devices again with 6.12.8 by activating ASPM manually.

This commands I used:

sudo setpci -s 00:1c.0 0x50.B=0x42

sudo setpci -s 01:00.0 0x80.B=0x42

For at least 2 of my server it worked and the addresses between them are equal but you need to find out the right addresses for your boards by yourself.

If the systems are still stable we will see. I had not enough time to test it in detail. At least I´m in C8 again and don't stuck in C3.

PS: I still expect a clean solution from Limetch with a new Unraid Release.

I'm running a 14gen i9 on an Asus W680. 6.12.6 seems to work flawlessly for me.  I was going to upgrade to .8 after my mover finishes moving my files to my new zfs pool.  Also I need to go in and undervolt and power limit my 14gen, its new and the 4u Case it is in seems to get hot.

@MPC561, thanks a lot. Your post saved me from returning my hardware I bought recently:

  • Intel i5-12400
  • GIGABYTE B760M GAMING X DDR4
  • Kingston FURY DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3200 (2x16GB)
  • be quiet! Pure Power 12M 550W

This mainboard has the Realtek r8125 NIC. I did some power measurements with Unraid 6.12.8 and applied the hints from the Powertop thread. In the end, the power consumption didn't go below 13W at idle (measured with FRITZ!DECT 200). The pkg c-states were stuck at C3.

I also had the RTL 8125 (B) PCI Drivers package installed.

setpci -s 00:1c.0 0x50.B=0x42
setpci -s 00:1c.2 0x50.B=0x42
setpci -s 02:00.0 0x80.B=0x42

After executing these commands, nothing changed, still 13W idle power consumption and c-states were stuck at C3.

Then, I uninstalled the RTL 8125 (B) PCI Drivers package and executed the commands from above again, et voilà 7.5W at idle. The c-states reached C10.

Did I do something wrong while the RTL 8125 (B) PCI Drivers package was installed and the setpci commands had no effect?

Are there any disadvantages in not using the dedicated RTL 8125 (B) PCI Drivers package?

The background of these questions is that I want to evaluate if I should keep the mainboard or look for something else with Intel NIC.
