[Plugin] NUT v2 - Network UPS Tools

Not sure if I am doing something wrong but I am trying to connect NUT v2 on netserver to a Windows 11 machine with WinNUT-Client (which hasn't been updated in 2 years)

I have reset the settings on NUT, changed passwords and usernames but I have had zero luck getting it connected. I am always struck with the message " Connection to Nut Host IP ADDRESS Failed: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

Now is this an issue with something I set up in NUT or is an issue with the client. And is there potentially an easier or newer version of a windows client that works with NUT?

This seemed to work for the majority of people, although I don't use it myself. You also need to make sure that NUT is in netserver mode and not in standalone mode in GUI settings.

Please post the NUT Debug Package found in the NUT Settings page.

Hey there,

Is it possible to display more than 1 UPS in the GUI statistics panel and/or footer?

Reason is I have 2 UPSs and configured NUT correctly; it tracks both.

However the UPS Name field, doesn't let me add commas to separate them.
If this is not possible, would this be a feature that would considered for this app?

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid that managing multiple UPS devices isn't planned for the near future. When I took over as maintainer, I inherited a codebase that wasn't designed for this functionality, and implementing it would require a major rewrite that I realistically won't have time for soon. The feature hasn't been frequently requested either - I only recall it being mentioned twice, suggesting it's not a high priority for most users. However, if an Unraid Web GUI update ever necessitates a plugin GUI rewrite, this is definitely a feature I'd want to include.

@Rysz
Thanks for the hasty reply, is the codebase public and open for contributions?

Goodnight!
@Rysz  I need your help..
I have a salicru 1100VA and a beelink U59 mini pc.
The unraid version is 7.0.1.

I can configure NUTs correctly, but after a few hours it gives an error and says Tower upsmon[3067482]: Poll UPS [[email protected]] failed - Data stale.

I've tried blazer_usb and nutdrv_qx, with Enable USB Power Management Override yes and no, and the results are always the same.

What could it be?
I attach the logs.
Thanks!

Hi

NUT plugin has stopped working for me recently. I run unraid 7.1.0-rc3 with nut-2.8.3-x86_64-1stable.ssl31 backend. My UPS is BR1000ELCD and my SYSLOG is attached below. Here is an excerpt from the SYSLOG:

```
I do have a problem with NUT and my Cyberpower (CP900EPFCLCD) UPS. On start usb connection does not be found. When I reboot my TS-253d or reconnect usb cable it works again most of the times.
Looks good on the Unraid side, please check if Windows Firewall is not blocking outgoing connections somehow.
Hi :)
Im looking into installting this with a Eaton 1000 9sx but i want NUT to shutdown my UDM SE. Is there a "Easy" "non programme"r way to do this? :)
All i can find is some old post about some scripts.
Thanks!
I to have been having issues with CP1500PFCLCD and this filling the syslog:
May 12 15:11:40 unraid01 usbhid-ups[672254]: nut_libusb_get_report: Input/Output Error
I've confirmed the following:
ups.conf on line 9: pollonly
xnut-nospam.conf
:msg, regex, "nut_libusb.*rror" -/var/log/nut-spam
:msg, regex, "nut_libusb.*rror" stop
I've tried adding new lines to specifically call out the error:
:msg, regex, "nut_libusb_get_report: Input/Output Error"  -/var/log/nut-spam
:msg, regex, "nut_libusb_get_report: Input/Output Error"  stop
No such luck.
It keeps coming back and is filling up my syslog every 2-5 seconds.
I've even tried adjusting my pooling to every 60 seconds, but it keeps changing its pooling effort on its own:
May 12 15:14:06 unraid01 usbhid-ups[672254]: nut_libusb_get_report: Input/Output Error
May 12 15:14:08 unraid01 usbhid-ups[672254]: nut_libusb_get_report: Input/Output Error
May 12 15:15:58 unraid01 usbhid-ups[672254]: nut_libusb_get_report: Input/Output Error
You can see it does every 2 seconds, then jumps to 70 seconds, then 20 seconds, then 2 seconds, then 12 seconds.
Its all over the board...
If nothing else helps and the UPS works otherwise, you can redirect all NUT logs to a rate limited file:
grafik.png.0e686ec360761a6cf3d823ed071be881.png
This will ensure that these logs do not fill up your system log and you can still check them if something is wrong.
I've got another problem at the moment where one of my slave devices isn't showing up on the NUT settings page. I have two slave devices, OPNsense router and Home Assistant, the latter running on a VM within my unraid server but on its own IP address. The OPNsense IP address shows up as a connected slave but the home assistant doesn't, despite the integration in HA apparently working (it shows the correct model and details for my UPS). Can this be ignored or does it mean the slave device isn't correctly connected? Happy to provide diagnostics from HA end or unraid if necessary. TIA
Don't know if I undestand you right...
On my system I never have seen a slave client on the config page of the nut master server.
In my thinking this is not important anyway. Impotant is, that your slave can see the master.
Edited by NoRaid99
I've included a screenshot to show the connected slave device field on the config page. You're probably right that it isn't important, I think it's caused by the fact that the HA VM is running on the unraid server itself
Screenshot 2025-05-21 at 8.04.23 am.png
As far as I remember the HA integration does not actually log into the NUT server and just passively polls the data. It doesn't make a big difference for Unraid, the login functionality is mostly for more complex setups where the NUT server has to coordinate shutdown with the clients before battery runs out. For typical Unraid setups you shutdown well before battery is near running out, and as long as the HA integration sees the "FSD" flag from the NUT server it should be fine.
I would like to ask if this is different from the "UPS settings" in unraid?
Yes, the "UPS Settings" uses the program apcupsd and NUT uses the software suite NUT: https://networkupstools.org/
Hi,
Recently I've noticed that the Runtime Left calculation is very far off from reality - it's showing me 9hrs remaining on my 2800 W (3000 VA) UPS while pulling ~800 W. I have an external battery pack too but it used to show ~ 2hrs of runtime on battery, which is correct. But now has incorrectly jumped to 8+ hrs
Is there a way to correct this?
When I try to create the .zip file I get the following error message:
ERROR: The NUT Debug Package Generation Script has failed - no response from the bash backend.
I restarted NUT but am still getting the same error
Edit: I'm on Unraid 7.1.2 and NUT plugin 2025.05.21c running the default backend (nut-2.8.3-x86_64-2stable.ssl31)
@Rysz should be maybe : `Battery Level - shuts down the system when there is X percentage left on the battery.`
UPS question regarding stats and event history:
So I had the APC ups where I was able to track the electrical cost and the power failure events quite precisely, but I seem unable to do that directly with NUT?
In the NUT Statistics page, the details are not all that I could get with the Cyberpower app or APC's web UI. The curves for the power draw, the input/output voltage and frequencies are missing as well.
I have a APC Back-UPS pro 1500s which should be pretty standard.
Not only that but I don't see any section keeping track of events outside of Unraid notifications and it seems like NUT is unable to keep track of micro power losses whereas the original software could and would register it in the events. Unraid only picks up on if it lasts more than a certain amount of seconds it seems.
I live in a place where small outages are very frequent so for me it would be a big plus if someone had a clue maybe a plugin or some container that could compensate for that?
Thanks for letting me know.
Here I can see some information but not all is there and the some curves are not working even if the info is available:
I'm having the same problem. I can see that the Power Draw is being read from the Cyberpower UPS as the Watts are show in the NUT footer, but the chart only reports "Waiting for Data...". Does anyone know how to get the Power Draw chart to update based on the draw reported from the UPS?
