[Support] ich777 - Gameserver Dockers

Featured Replies

Hey got a quick question about the Rust docker container that you made. I have been using it for a few months now. I can't for the life of me figure out RCON. Can you let me know what I need to do to get it functioning? I've port forwarded the default port from the container in my router. I've tried to set extra game parameters to define a password by giving +rcon passowd 'mypasswordhere' also "mypasswordhere". Haven't seen it work on my LAN or from the WAN IP of the server. I've also looked through the serverauto.cfg and added it there. No joy there either. I'm sure I'm missing something stupid, please help. Haha. Thanks.

Sorry I won't create a container and/or template where Blizzard will most likely come after me and/or Unraid.

May I ask why you are mentioning @bmartino1 from another post not related to that here?

I think they are refering to a old stream game server docker where clam av would flag game files due to how the server generated png files

Then this is a ClamAV issue an should be reported in the appropriate support thread @Duckers

Possibly because I switches repositories from DockerHub to Git Hub Container Registry because of the upcoming change in the Rate Limits for DockerHub

Just noticed this.  You're close.

Reason for this is that because the original repository no longer exists within CA, it assumes that its a tagged version of something that does exist within CA.  And what does exist (and IS deprecated) is your CSGO container.  Delete CSGO (and if there's another one in there referring to ich777/steamcmd) from GitHub in the deprecated folder and this problem should disappear

Rust uses WebRCON and not the simple RCON and you should be to connect through this site here.

Please note that you have to connect with your SERVERIP:RCONPORT <- not your WAN IP!

Oh, might be because I clicked multiquote :s

Sorry about that. Still not familiar with this forum 😛

And gotcha for the server related.

Do you have a page with templates on how one can set up a game server for ourselves? Or would it be somewhat similar to other game templates? As I'm willing to dig into how I setup one myself for personal use to not have others risk getting into trouble.

This is out of scope for this thread, you can go through my GitHub Unraid templates here and look how that would look like.

You know that there is a Compose plugin available for Unraid so that should be relatively simple to set up if you have a compose file...

Is there a way to get around the "invalid platform" error with your Left4Dead2 dedicated server image?  Without having to turn off steam guard and logging in as my user.

I was not aware of this issue however I'm not sure if this is easily fixable because I even now tried a valid account that has the game not in it's library and get the same error message.

However since it shows up in their own dedicated server list as downloadable through anonymous login I think this is a Valve issue: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Dedicated_Servers_List

Even the workaround is not working for me however what is really strange that CS2 downloads just fine where Left4Dead2 seems to have issues.

My recommendation for games which needed a valid Steam Account was always to create a dedicated Steam Account with Steam Guard disabled and use that account for this game servers but it seems like in the case for L4D2 you also need to have the game in the library <- but I'm not sure if that will fix the issue.

Please update the container itself with 'force update' (with Advanced View enabled) on the Docker page from Unraid, after that you can use it like that:
grafik.png.2362afdab2739231c543aae19455f242.png

so to speak like:

KF-CustomMap.rom?game=CustomGameVACSecured=true?Mutator=ScrNBalance?MaxPlayers=30

please don't add 'ucc-bin server', this field is only for game parameters, you could of course add '-DisableDeathSpectator' or anything like that but please make sure they are valid game parameters, this would then look something like:

KF-CustomMap.rom?game=CustomGameVACSecured=true?Mutator=ScrNBalance?MaxPlayers=30 -DisableDeathSpectator

Hope that helps.

Thanks, this helped me.
But I have another problem about Port Network, I have opened all Ports, my friends also play with me ok, but I don't understand why they can't find my Host via Server Browser, connecting manually directly to IP is normal.

I hope you are only talking about the ports in the template.

I can't help there since this seems like a Game related issue not a container issue, I can only give support for container related questions or if something is not working as expected like your start options.

The container works like if you run the server on a Dedicated Linux machine with all the manual stuff (downloading and starting the game server) automated.

Ok thanks you for help. This is my first time i try to Host Dedicated on Docker (Unraid). Before, I hosted on Windows and it was ok, all Ports worked fine so I didn't get it wrong. But the funny thing is that my friends still connected directly to play normally haha.

Maybe you have to add a steamtoken to the startup command like it is the case for most servers to show up and play online since you download the dedicated server through the anonymous login and therefore no account is bound to the dedicated server.

I downloaded the host with my steam account so I don't think that's the cause.

Yeah, this is a server that doesn't (shouldn't) need an account.

Unfortunately, Valve screwed something up on their end, so I guess I'll just have to wait.  I wasn't able to use the supposed workaround either.  And I'm definitely not turning off Steam Guard or bothering to have a secondary account just for this one thing haha.

Thanks for looking into the workaround though, I appreciate it!

Can I ask more?
How to move the default installation directory (/mnt/cache/appdata/killingfloor) outside for example /mnt/USER/HostGame/killingfloor.
Because when I install other than default, Host cannot start.
This is very difficult because all the config setting are in the directory, I cannot edit directly, only download and reupload after edit.

Do you mean the container wont start and/or simply crash? If this is the case some dedicated servers have issue when using /mnt/user/... instead use the real path to the files like /mnt/cache/... or /mnt/disk3/...

Please make also sure when you are using the real path that the share you are using is actually configured to stay on that drive and is not moved to somewhere else in the Share settings from Unraid.

Stop the container, move it where you want to have it physically on Unraid and in the template change the path as pointed out above.

Any chance anyone has gotten this to work?
I noticed in the logs that it tells that the RCON password is insecure and it disables RCON. I've given it a strong password in the serverauto.cfg file.

I cant move :( . The container start and freeze, maybe reboot loop.

you cannot move from real disks (i.e. cache/appdata/) to the FUSE-System (ie. user/appdata)

You have to move from cache/appdata to cache/appdata

Do we have a plugin to edit files or share folders from cache/appdata via SMB Share?

You can just expose that share via smb. But you dont need that if you just move the files.

You just cant mix while moving.

If you pick anything in the gui from the disk1 for example, your target has to be any disk, not fuse target.

So from disk1 to disk5 or from cache to disk3

if you pick something from the fuse system, user/ your target has to be user/ once again.

Its a safety feature
