Featured Replies

Hi Guys hope anyone can help me.

I just startet my unraid some days ago and wanted to install the ARK SE Server. I can create it but in the logs it shows there is a problem with download.

I already testet the connection to the internet and its stable from the docker / Host.

This issue is related to out of space IIRC, please do keep in mind that a few users had issues when using ZFS and not using the real file path like /mnt/cache/...

I'm also not sure why the download from the Libraries fail because this basically means you are really haven't got any space left (at least it thinks it hasn't any free space) or it really don't has a connection to the Internet.

Please try:

  1. Remove the container
  2. Remove the folder for ArkSE from your appdata directory
  3. Pull a fresh copy from the template from CA

If you have Unifi gear on your network please double check the Firewall logs since it's IPS/IDS is a bit to strict sometimes.

Having a few issues with the Astroneer container. It's experimental, so I understand if this is simply something we have to live with.

Currently when I run the container, it seems to get stuck at --Start Server--.

As per the instructions for the container, I did set the engine config change. Though, due to the fact it seems the server isn't able to even launch, I doubt it's due to this. I also made sure it didn't have any conflicting ports. It doesn't crash, it hangs. I'm unable to find any logs, apart from the ones I took below from the Unraid Logs via the GUI.

Network wise, I was unable to connect via the public IP or using the local IP of my server.

The container does not get stuck, this is just the way it displays that the server is started.

How much resources is the container using?

Please note that you can only connect to the server if you've forwarded the port correctly, NAT reflection is properly working and you connect with PUBLICIP:PORT

Sadly enough the server doesn't display/save any logs. :/

However I will check when I get home from work if it really works and report back, maybe they changed something that broke the container but I don't think so.

EDIT: The container works as intended:
grafik.thumb.png.1474c0ab06bf1b076aa5155f740bab8b.png

And when connected:

Please note that you have to open up the ports to the Internet since LAN only doesn't work from my experience and therefore your HairPinNAT also has to work correctly.

You're right, it does seem like it was some networking issue. Sorry for the noise.

This indicates that there is no disk space left.

Please check your path mappings in the container template.

@ich777

Wondering if you could give me a hand, I'm not running this on Unraid currently but still like your image a lot.

It works perfectly, except it wont load the InstaGib mutator in as the default no matter what I do. I could use some examples of how I am supposed to use the GAME_PARAMS and EXTRA_GAME_PARAMS if available.

Sorry I'm not too familiar with this dedicated server but are you sure that it's InstaGibDM? From what I've found it should be:

Mutators=BotPack.InstaGibDM

I'm really not sure if that helps but I really don't know much about hosting UnrealTournament99 other than with the basic settings, I suspect that it's just a minor issue why it's not working.

Just because I saw it, please use a UID and GID that exists on your system and is able to use the Docker service, most of the times 1000:1000 if you are not running this container on Unraid.

First off, thanks for a quick reply. I get since you make so many of these you may not dig into the weeds on each of them. I didn't catch Mutators being plural. It still doesn't work though, do I need to use the Extra Parameters like others do (saw an example another used several pages back)?

Would you be able to characterize how the env variables are placed into the ucc-bin command?

For example it appears it might be something like this:

./ucc-bin server "[MAP]?game=[GAME]?[GAME_PARAMS][EXTRA_GAME_PARAMS]" ini=[SERVER_INI]

Is that close? I'm assuming that if EXTRA_GAME_PARAMS is null it'll get dropped or have nothing to put in and do nothing which is why you instruct us to carefully place the ?'s so ucc-bin can interpret.

Last question: What resource did you read to create your container? That resource may answer a bunch of questions for my own understanding.

Ok while the above may be helpful I did get it to work but I think either more documentation on how the GAME_PARAMS variable is injected into the ucc-bin so we can use/format it properly or perhaps its not handling it how you want it to (more below):

My functional yaml (even loads my mutator):

services:
  unreal-tournament-99:
    container_name: Unreal-Tournament-99
    environment:
      - GAME=CTF4.CTF4Game?mutator=ZeroPingPlus103.ColorAccuGib
      - MAP=CTF4-Face4
      - WEBSERVER=true
      - WEB_USERNAME=admin
      - WEB_PASSWORD=Docker
      - USER_INI=User.ini
      - SERVER_INI=UnrealTournament.ini

        SRV_DL_URL=http://ut-files.com/Entire_Server_Download/ut-server-436.tar.gz
      - >-
        SRV_PATCH_DL_URL=http://ut-files.com/Entire_Server_Download/UTPGPatch451LINUX.tar.gz
      - UID=99
      - GID=100
      - UMASK=0000
    image: ich777/unreal-tournament-99:latest
    ports:
      - 7777-7781:7777-7781/udp
      - 8777:8777/udp
      - 27500:27500/tcp
      - 27500:27500/udp
      - 27900:27900/tcp
      - 27900:27900/udp
      - '5080:5080'
    restart: unless-stopped
    volumes:
      - <somelocation>:/ut99
version: '3.9'

However I found something interesting in the GAME_PARAMS ENV variable in when I did an inspect:

"Env": [
                "GAME_PARAMS=\"?mutator=ZeroPingPlus103.ColorAccuGib\"",
                "USER_INI=User.ini",
                "GAME=CTF4.CTF4Game",
                "GID=100",
                "UID=99",
                "SRV_DL_URL=http://ut-files.com/Entire_Server_Download/ut-server-436.tar.gz",
                "WEBSERVER=true",
                "SERVER_INI=UnrealTournament.ini",
                "MAP=CTF4-Face4",
                "UMASK=0000",
                "WEB_USERNAME=admin",
                "SRV_PATCH_DL_URL=http://ut-files.com/Entire_Server_Download/UTPGPatch451LINUX.tar.gz",
                "WEB_PASSWORD=Docker",
                "PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin",
                "LANG=en_US.UTF-8",
                "LANGUAGE=en_US:en",
                "LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8",
                "DATA_DIR=/ut99",
                "EXTRA_GAME_PARAMS=",
                "DATA_PERM=770",
                "USER=ut99"

Now I've tried not having quotes, having quotes, etc, but nothing seams to work the way I want it to. However if I just treat my GAME env variable as my full Game parameter variable it works perfect!

I'm not saying its a bug but at least my brain wasn't following these instructions in a way that expected that inspect output for the GAME_PARAMS variable. This is what I was following: https://hub.docker.com/r/ich777/unreal-tournament-99

Thanks a ton for this great docker, you really took a lot of pain away from creating a server, I also appreciate that you didn't force the UT-Server files to be IN the docker image but rather could be externally mounted. A few other docker images were pretty stubborn about that.

I think this is possibly a bug with compose because I basically set it to nothing on container start which works on Unraid, I'm not sure what is at fault here.

Yeah, I have a bit of a different approach to how Docker could also be used... :D

However I'm glad that you've figured it out and everything is working.

You can just expose that share via smb. But you dont need that if you just move the files.

You just cant mix while moving.

If you pick anything in the gui from the disk1 for example, your target has to be any disk, not fuse target.

So from disk1 to disk5 or from cache to disk3

if you pick something from the fuse system, user/ your target has to be user/ once again.

Its a safety feature

I have a problem today, after Unraid Update OS i lost anything in mnt/cache/killingfloor.

So there is no way to move the server folder out and still be able to run.
Leaving the server folder in the cache will cause OS Unraid Update to delete everything.

I don't think that is necessary, do you have a cache drive installed and is it named cache?

If not it is clear that you've lost everything because Unraid runs from RAM an each reboot paths which not exist will be wiped. I assumed you had a cache drive installed that's why I wrote all of the above.

I don't know what you mean moving it out? If you have a cache drive a OS Update or reboot won't delete the files and everything should be still be intact after a reboot, otherwise all users would be affected of what you are describing.

If you are using it like this the path or better speaking killingfloor will be a dedicated share which will persist reboots granted if you have a pool named cache.

I am struggling to get the Ark Survival Evolved Server running.

With the docker up and running, I am unable to join the server.

I am on Epic, so I believe the only way to join a server on the local network is with the command: Open <IP:Port?Password>.

When I do that, it immediately gives me this error:Screenshot(5).thumb.png.a5163899030da4f47c13a2dc2d798e9f.png

i can ping my server from my PC, and If I run that command with a non-existing IP it takes a minute or so to see that error. So it at least can see the server.

Here is a screenshot of the log, and I'll attach it as a text file as well:Screenshot2025-03-14202406.thumb.png.9a2b2377ed9bb6019b823557d54cd8ec.png

I'm not sure if the "took too long" messages matter if at the end it still says it was successfully installed. I'm also not sure of the significance of the Steam_API_Init failed at the end.

I'm using a fresh install of Ark from Epic, no mods or anything.

IIRC you have to add -crossplay like this if you want to be able to join from an Epic account:

Awesome! I appreciate the quick response.

I am just using the server's local IP to connect "192.168....".

I tried initially without the password with the same results, just added it in case that was the issue.

Adding -crossplay seems to have helped as I can now see it in the server browser, but couldn't before. I still get a connection timeout when I try to join though.

I don't see anything in the logs. Is there somewhere I can check why the connection is failing?

Did you change anything so far? The ports or something else? A screenshot from your template would be very helpful.

I am having an issue using the Sons of the Forest game server. Everything seems to work, except nobody can actually get into the server. Ports are forwarded, docker and steamcmd are updated, the server shows up in the steam browser. I've tried removing the password as well as adding a steam game server token, I'm still having the issue.

Anyone else experience this? You join a server, it says "Joining game..." for almost a full minute and then kicks you back to the main menu.

I enabled logging and found a few lines that may or may not be concerning:
"Client version: no bootstrapper found"

Not concerning at all, just a normal message.

Please double check your port forwarding and check if you've forwarded the correct port with the correct protocol.

Do you have other services running exposed to the internet and are you sure that you are not behind a CG-NAT?

Did you change anything in the template, especially the ports?

Thanks for the response! I'll book mark it so I don't lose it.

Please share a bit more details, on what Unraid version are you?

For your Docker image, do you use directory mode or do you use an image, if you are using an image please try to do a scrub and see if you have any errors.

The container works just fine over here:

I don't understand what you mean exactly with that, the container will use whatever resources you give to it.

Please not that the container is running through WINE and that there might be unexpected behaviour or crashing due to that but it shouldn't be related to the error that you've posted above.
