I added an a variable to the container called GAME_V and set it to "latest", and restarted, but still 1.61.1.

Since you are running Forge I assume you are using a custom jar file and that‘s why that won‘t work, I would recommend to start over with a fresh copy from the container if you want to play around, or at least with a second container with a different name and a different directory in your appdata.

My docker container is " up-to-date".

The container itself is self maintaining and doesn‘t get updated often (only security updates), it would be also helpful ig you post screenshots from your Docker template to see what your settings are and that might also help identifying the issue.

What does the log say when starting the server?

With these settings the container should update itself.

However I don't understand, this doesn't looks like a Forge server, this looks like a vanilla Minecraft server.

I think I misunderstood how to get forge working - sorry, I haven't messed with this in 5 years and found it confusing. Yes, my existing config is vanilla (I am not 100% sure why it doesn't update but I am not worried about that).

You did fix my problem, though  - I have a new, fresh container running that I got the current version of everything working in correctly.

Thank you very much for the advice! :)

I still have problem when I set Host in Cache or mnt.
When I restart Unraid all data will be lost.
If I set server like mnt/user/appdata/killingfloor then Host can not start.

Like this, cant start server...bootloop

I think that Killingfloor is a game that you need to point at the physcial location to the files so to speak /mnt/disk2/... or /mnt/cache/... or wherever the game files are located.

That's why be default in most of my templates /mnt/cache/... is the default path.

@ich777- Possible to create a container for Aska? For dedicated game server.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1898300/ASKA/

Maybe but I don‘t create any containers anymore since I‘m already having a lot of stuff to maintain and TBH I also don‘t have any time to play any games anymore. :(

Maybe a developer from the other game servers can help.

you should create a tutorial on how you create containers.

@ich777

Hallo,

I use your Satisfactory Docker for the Experimental Branch. Unfortunately, I can no longer log in, i.e. I can hear what is happening and can also shoot with the gun, for example. Unfortunately I only ever see the loading screen. With the patch 1.1 today CSS has somehow made the TCP port 8888 or higher necessary.

Here is the text from the patch notes.

Dedicated Server - Port Forwarding Updates
If you have Host a dedicated server, you should definitely give the next block a read as many new improvements have been added to allow for extra flexibility since the last update on Experimental

We have updated the Port Allocation Strategy in Reliable Messaging
New features:

Explicit Port Configuration

A new -ReliablePort= command-line parameter allows explicit port selection.
The value must be an integer between 0 and 65535.
If specified, the server will attempt to bind to this port and fail to initialize if the port is unavailable.

Default and Configurable Port Ranges
The following settings in Engine.ini control port allocation:

[/Script/ReliableMessaging.ReliableMessagingTCPFactory]
PortRangeBegin=8888
PortRangeLength=512
ExternalPortRangeBegin=-1

The server will attempt to bind within [PortRangeBegin, PortRangeBegin + PortRangeLength).
By default, the server starts at port 8888 and tries up to 512 ports until it finds an available one.

Client Awareness & NAT Handling

Clients must connect to the correct port, but port remapping (e.g., via NAT/firewall rules) can break this.
To address this, the server now communicates the listening port to clients during the initial handshake.
If external port remapping is used, the server must be aware of the external port via:
The ExternalPortRangeBegin config setting (for remapped ranges).
The -ExternalReliablePort= command-line parameter (for explicitly mapped ports).

Server Host Requirements (TL;DR)

If hosting a single server, port 8888 TCP must be open by default.
If hosting multiple servers, a range of ports starting from 8888 TCP (by default) must be open.
The server will attempt up to 512 ports before failing (configurable).
If port remapping (NAT/firewall) is used, the server must be configured accordingly; otherwise, clients won’t be able to connect.
Logging is in place to help server maintainers verify the allocated ports.

Do you have any ideas what we can do?

Und jetzt auf Deutsch:

Hallo,

Tim

I have found the solution:

You have to release another port: TCP 8888

So the ports TCP/UDP 7777 and TCP 8888 are required

So there is no way to fix this :(. We have any plugins for backup?

Thank you for the heads up, I just updated the container template for new installations and it will now include a second TCP port 8888, I also added a short description how users can change that port.

Since you've figured it already out you just have to add a new port entry to the template with TCP Port 8888 and in your Firewall/Router of course too.

I think you've quoted the wrong post correct?

There is a fix, point the container to the correct disk, so to speak if all the game files are on disk1 use: /mnt/disk1/... if they are on disk3 then user /mnt/disk3/... if you have a cache pool with the name nvme then use /mnt/nvme/...

To go more in detail, you even can create a separate share and point the files to this share.

To do that

  1. Go to the share settings and click Add Share
  2. Enter your desired name for the share, select Array and at Included disks select the disk that you want to use <- this will ensure that the files only live on this disk
    grafik.png.4e99e03c3ecbec589fc7dd4dbd15a1da.png
  3. Then click Add Share
  4. After that go to the Docker template and set the Game Files to /mnt/diskX/Killingfloor (where X stands for the Disk number that you've selected in Step 2

With the above your server won't delete anything.

However what I would recommend is that you are using a share that stays on the cache pool since with this the Array can go to sleep and save power, to do that click on Primary storage and select the pool that you want to have the game files on and at Secondary storage select None because with this the folder will stay on the Cache Pool, in the example below the path would be /mnt/nvme/killingfloor :

grafik.png.135b0a68fa9b3e03c233f054e77ffc48.png

The preferred way in my book would be to change appdata so that it has only a Primary storage location on a pool and is not moved to the Array since with that you avoid the whole procedure above.

My main issue with that all is that I don't know which pools or if you even have a pool or Array at all and therefore explaining can get complicated quick.

The template has now this in it (only valid for new installations) :
grafik.thumb.png.4256474a81a2341f33d6661b37d8e1b8.png

You will basically need to delete that entry, create a new port mapping with TCP 8889 container port and host port set to the same and add -ReliablePort=8889 to the Game Parameters like this:

grafik.png.f7b0da538566c4e490cfff909b304d42.png

and of course don't forget to forward the port in your router/firewall.

Hope that helps.

Hoping for some advice on setting up an Arma Reforger dedicated server through docker.

I haven't been able to get it working using their wiki and git instructions, and can't figure out why from the container logs - it just stops on boot.

My Valheim server has suddenly stopped working.

I had re-stared the docker and also lost power shortly after that.

The server no longer shows as available in the server browser.

The only thing that should have changed was some tweaks I made to the Valheim Plus config before restarting the server.

When I first checked the logs, it had stopped at :

---Start Server---

Now each time I restart it, it makes it past that but still can't access it.

Here is the most recent log:

image.png.02946d149a8405437317865eee66f280.png

I'm not sure what [S_API FAIL] means, if it's good or bad, or if I should expect to see more after it.

I tried connecting with my local IP address and it worked, so this seems to be a network/routing issue. Commenting here in case it may help someone else. I would still like to understand what [S_API FAIL] means.

Everything seems fine and you should be able to connect, have you tried to connect with your SERVERIP:PORT too?

This message was always there and is just normal, it just says that the Steam API was not ready but if you look a few lines above it’s loaded because it retries and finally intializes.

Where can I edit the server config, usually its in /mnt/evo/rust/server/my_server_identity/cfg/server.cfg but for some reason, this version of Rust Server ignores this file. I have a lot of stuff in my file such as;

How can I use these in this version of the server? I am moving from a game server on gameserverkings to my own UNRAID server (multi purpose)

Please check you port mappings in the template, are you using /mnt/user/... /mnt/cache/... or /mnt/evo/...

Please also double check if your share named "rust" is set to stay on the evo pool since if it's set to be moved off to the Array and the path in the template for the Game files points to /mnt/evo/... it will come to the behavior that you are experiencing.

What you can also do is open up a terminal and see if the server.cfg actually reflects your server.cfg by opening up a Unraid terminal and issuing:

cat /mnt/evo/rust/server/my_server_identity/cfg/server.cfg

I assume "my_server_identity" is a placeholder and you have to replace it with your server identity.
