Hi, getting trouble since upgrade to latest unraid with booth unraid servers.

I want to mount a remote share connected via tailscale.

connections between servers are active and ping is ok.

log says:

Jun 21 14:00:50 NASty kernel: CIFS: VFS: Error connecting to socket. Aborting operation.
Jun 21 14:00:50 NASty kernel: CIFS: VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -111
Jun 21 14:00:50 NASty unassigned.devices: SMB 1.0 mount failed: 'mount error(111): could not connect to 100.72.40.79Unable to find suitable address. '.
Jun 21 14:00:50 NASty unassigned.devices: Share '//100.72.40.79/backup_jan' failed to mount.

I deleted the share and add it again, reinstalled tailscale and rebooted server. No solution for now? :(

Post diagnostics.

I don't think your remote server is reachable the way you have things setup:

Jun 22 11:46:33 NASty unassigned.devices: SMB default protocol mount failed: 'mount error(111): could not connect to 100.72.40.79Unable to find suitable address. '.

The 100.72.40.79 address is not reachable.

Check the 6.12 release notes on setting up networking for tailscale.

Don't know if it was reported above, but with 6.12.X, dashboard does not refresh (even after manual page refresh) unassigned devices that are not present any more, except if we visit "main" tab, which triggers the update.

The Dashboard is not controlled by UD.  You need to report that in the 6.12 release forum.  The Dashboard Unassigned Devices is built into Unraid.

Hello guys

I hope someone has a solution for following problem:

I have to Servers (Server A and Server B).

Server A has SMB shares setup to Server B (Server A -> Server B). When Server A and Server B are both online, and shares are mounted (automounting is on), everything works pretty well. Server B can go offline (sleep), and after waking up, the shares are still mounted.

Now if the Server B is offline, and server A is restarted, it is trying to mount the shares from the Server B, but as the server B is offline, no shares are mounted. If the server B comes online, the shares are not mounted, and the system doesn't even try to mount them.

How can I make sure, that when the Server B comes online, Server A will try to mount the shares?

UD does not make any attempts to mount remote shares after the first try to auto mount.  About the only thing you can do is set up a script to run on User Scripts to auto mount remote shares.  You can run the script on a timed basis.  The command to auto mount remote shares is:

/usr/local/sbin/rc.unassigned mount autoshares

What you might do is set up a User Script to run every 30 minutes and run the remote shares mount command.  If the shares are already mounted, the script will just log that the devices are already mounted.

that was it. Thank you.

a quick question. There was a standard device script in the folder to get notifications when mounting is done or not. I don’t find the .sh script anymore. Was it deleted by accident? Where can I find it? Regards :)

That means that UD can't fnd that server.  Check the IP address of the QNAP server.  Go to a terminal on Unraid and try to ping the QNAP server.

I have just found some issues with the way UD is getting IP addresses of remote servers.  It may be part of the issue you are seeing.

The Ping working and gives the IP.

The IP doesn't works in UD on Raster.

With the new Version of UD no changes with IP or Name.

A new Log is on the Way.

On Lucy works with the Name.

Does the name work?  Try this in a terminal and see if it returns the IP address:

arp -a NASCEB6D5

Also this one:

arp -an NASCEB6D5.LOCAL

Bonding is for multiple NICs.  If only one of your NICs is working, you can turn off bonding.

I have two 16 GB USB sticks, from the same vendor, that I'm trying to copy files to. I insert the first stick and UD sees it as 'sdk'. As soon as I insert the second stick, which is seen as 'sdl', the previous one isn't visible anymore to mount, only the second stick. In the image, both sticks are plugged in, but only sdl is shown. At the end of the log, after sdl is inserted, there is an error about getting the ID of sdk. Is this because they are the same manufacturer?

Each device needs to give a unique serial number.  The one you are showing doesn't seem to have a serial number.  UD thinks they are the same device.

Thank you. Anyway to give them a unique SN? Copying within unRAID is SO much faster than Windows.

Copy the to/from an Unraid disk.

I think their goal is to copy some files to a bunch of identical flash drives at the same time for distribution.

Nope, would need to use other drives that identify correctly. Guessing those are cheapo no-names?

Yes to the semi mass distribution.

And yes to being cheapo no-names too.

No offense taken.  The notification system comes from too many users not updating and we end up providing support for a problem an update resolves.

I have auto update turned on and those notifications still pop up. Great plugin, but I understand not everyone knows how to design for UX.

I wonder what is the purpose of Historical Devices?

From what I see, it lists devices that are no longer present in the system. So why would I need to keep their information around? What is the actual real-world use-case for this feature? Or alternatively I could ask, what problem does it solve?
