OK, after taking a break, I had a moment of clarity. Here is what FINALLY solved it (JIC anyone else runs in to this).

 

I was wondering if I could possibly go the reverse route and mount the UNRAID share to the Synology file system and do my data migration from there. Lo and behold, when I tried to add it I got an error "you can only enter the ip from another server" because the IP was already reserved in the network settings as itself and not the new device.

I was using multiple network interfaces on the Synology NAS 2 device before and disconnected one so I could attach my new UNRAID device to it and give it that IP address. LAN 3 on the Synology was set to Static at the address 192.168.50.8

 

I removed the static network mapping for that LAN interface, and now everything works as expected. Pings, SMB connection from UNRAID, everything.

 

I will be transferring happily now.

Unable to Mount Encrypted XFS Disk with Unassigned Devices

I'm encountering an issue with mounting an encrypted XFS disk using Unassigned Devices (UD). After formatting an external drive as encrypted XFS and configuring the password in UD settings, the system fails to mount the disk.
To troubleshoot, I reformatted the same disk with standard (unencrypted) XFS, which mounts without any issues. This suggests the problem might be specifically related to the encryption implementation.
Has anyone successfully set up an encrypted XFS disk with UD? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am able to format and mount an xfs encrpted disk.  Post your diagnostics.

I updated all my plugins but should I upgrade Unraid? I don't know if 7.0.0 is stable or not. So I'm not sure.
USB disks doesn't have problem if it's not formatted as encrypted XFS so I don't know.

Either update to 6.12.14 or 7.0.  Both are stable releases.  Then fix the USB disk issues flooding your log.

I have added some older drives in that I have temporarily put in my unraid setup so they are only showing/used in unassigned devices. They are NTFS formatted from a Windows10 machine. 

 

When I mount them in UD, they are tagged (RO).  and thus I am not able to delete files off them when I have moved them to my pool.

 

Is there a way to tell why they are being tagged (RO).

I am no expert at all but i would assume its down to disk permissions maybe? If you wish to add it to the array backup important data and wipe the disk.

Usually it's because they haven't been properly unmounted last time they were used, connect to a Windows machine, check disk, eject properly

If you look at the syslog where the disk was mounted, you will generally see a log message explaining why the disk is mounted RO.  If it's an NTFS disk, it is because it was not shut down properly.

- Thanks @OldManBeard for the suggestion, I checked the permissions and they all looked correct. Issue seemed to be corruption from prior system (as mentioned below)

Thanks @Kilrah & @dlandon Y'all were correct, I removed the drives from the unraid setup, and put them back in the Windows rack.  Partition information had been corrupted, one wouldn't even recognize in windows at all (though was back to normal in unraid when I put it back there. Still (RO).  

Data is very replaceable, so no big worry.

Confirmed: the drives were marked from the prior system. 

Re-inserted into Windows system, and then marked offline. -> Put back into unraid rack, and they are now not marked (RO).

UD uses the syslog because a separate log would be confusing.

I'm trying to set up a USB Blu-ray drive with my Unraid server. My main purpose is just reading data discs (like ZIP files containing photos) - not playing movies or doing backups. UD showed me there is an disk but nothing more. "partition" button is grayed out.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Optical drives aren't supported AFAIK

Your best bet is to use a VM or docker to mount and use an optical drive, depending on how you will use it.

But how I can copy Files from Unraid to this Share

I go to Shares and Select a File.. Click Copy but I see only the Unraid Shares and not this SMB Share..

I think what you are talking about is the built in file manager.  In 7.0 a change was made that changed the file picker so the UD remotes/ ended up missing from the choices in the file picker.  This has been fixed in the next release of Unraid.

I've never tried entering the destination manually.  The file manager may not like that.
