  1. I'm no expert, but I think you're experiencing your first drive failure. My best advice is to assume the drive is dead (might be an alright drive for stuff later). Do you have a backup? I'm not sure why you suspect your drive controller. I've actually had/proved one of those (an HDD controller failure, on the MB), but it didn't look anything like what you're describing. Drive failures suck!... Take your time. Drive failure doesn't mean data failure. (That's why we use Unraid, yes?) People more helpful than me will probably check in before I post My response. Mr. Grey
  2. I have to say I think the pole is fun?... Maybe?
  3. NEVER let your disks spin down. It's an "age-old" argument and I'm, obviously, on the side of keeping them spinning (5 watts each?). I think you need to do a backup. Take your time. Mechanical drives are tanks, just don't through a grenade in them. Errors are there for a reason. Evaluate them. I wish I could help more. Mr. Grey.
  4. Your "guessing" and "looks like" seems to be good to me. A backup would be great if you had one. Less parity, more backup, next time. Mr. Grey
  5. Binding "interfaces" can be a pain in the ass. (are they both Intel, or something else?). Jonathan mentions "10Gbps"... and I would caution looking for "MULTI" Gbps. There are "standards" for *1*Gps (normal), and *2.5* Gps, and *5* Gps, and *10* Gps. Only (above 1Gps) 2.5 and 10 are "popular". BUT... If your *10* won't do *2.5*... you're back to *1* (ALL protocols fall back to *1* Gbps -- I shouldn't say that, but most do). The journey beyond Gigabit has many options. (SFP?) Mr. Grey
  6. I've found the author of, "Fix Common Problems" to be very active and helpful. I've never seen a, "Machine Check Event", but I'm very certain it means something (even if the "error" isn't as specific as "we" would like). The link/reference below is to the support forum for, "Fix Common Problems".
  7. I never let my drives spin down because I see that as a problem. I have USB (x4) drives for backup (and an old 18tb NAS cabled), and I have unassigned drives and cache drives and, of course, the array drives. I'm not very good at "power" management, but a mechanical HD is, what?... 5 watts? I think "power-cycling" a hard drive is the worse thing you can do to it. I hope this helps in a weird way. :) Mr. Grey.
  8. Just the Windows VM, or others as well?
  9. Perhaps, your shares are for "root" (WebGUI) instead of a user? Perhaps, the credentials you're using are for "root" instead of a user? I'm assuming a new install.
  10. I'm no UnRAID expert... just reading to learn. I think the idea of going to single parity (in this situation) is absolutely briliant. You could add the second parity after all goes well, if you want to. Again, not an expert here.
  11. I hate, but respect, "MyServers" as an attempt to protect "folks" from opening their server (port 80 style) to the world. Perhaps, Limetech is trying to make some retribution for not even requiring a password for root access. It's lame, but Microsoft did worse (I know, not a great defense). Did I mention I hate "MyServers" in place of basically forcing proper security (like a password)? In the end, we make our choices. Unraid *CAN* be secure and as anonymous as... ?
  12. I'm thinking: 1. Make all cache "gone" (not used). 2. Make cache the way you want. I'm probably missing something?
  13. I'm currently running Firefox 98.0.1 (64 bit) in both Windows 10 (10.0.19043) and Manjaro (Arch) Linux 21.2.4 (both bare metal). I expected to say that Linux works fine and Windows is "pixeled" (as it was 7 - 14 days ago). As I test both while writing this, both terminal windows are fine for me. Go figure.
  14. Then you should route the traffic through the delugevpn docker that you have. Am I missing something?
  15. You can't access the WebUI via local IP address?
  16. I agree with trurl and itimpi. This reminds me of a Plex (mis)configuration that had movies/tvshows being saved in "appdata" instead of the "media" share they were supposed to be in. You'll find the solution/reason. Take your time.

Welcome to the real world. So few people even want to look. Mr. Grey
  18. Should be the first forum anyone sees. (... it does exist... shhhh...) Mr. Grey
  19. If I bump it, being a newbie, is it more or less of a pain?... How do I make a poll? MGrey.
  20. Newbie here... Am I to understand that a "basic" Unraid operation is broken, or is it just the documentation? MGrey.
  21. You, @JonathanM, are a person that I respect (in many threads). I appreciate you taking the time to say what you've said. I agree with (mostly) everything that you've said. It doesn't change what I said -- which is, Bit of a shock here -- didn't realize I could quote myself like that... Anyway... I would certainly agree with, "poor documentation" (your words, not mine), but I might expand it to include that no one really knows. (big pause for effect). There should be a 'General Discussion' forum, way before anyone (new) sees "Support". I would post in 'General Questions/Discussion" (where people ask stuff before they fuck up), but I would NEVER post in 'General Support' because they (everyone there) know so much more than I do. It's just my (little) opinion. I wish everyone, most of all @JonathanM and @SpencerJ the most happiest of holidays, whether they be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other reason to celebrate whatever is important to you and yours. Mr. Grey.
  22. Reading General Support is a nightmare of convoluted problems that "many?" don't/do experience?. I, personally, have less confidence in Unraid after reading that forum. MGrey.
  23. General Support should be hard to find for newbies.
  24. My "dream" for Unraid would be for it to be a bulletproof NAS that outperforms TrueNAS/FreeNAS because of its proven reliability, scalability and durability under "similar" circumstances. Ya... That's all.
  25. If anything spins down my drives, I consider that a failure. To each their own.
