As good as anyone here. Ignore the thread rippers. MrGrey.
  2. That topic lives here... It's not. You can VM BSD and ZFS to your hearts content. Why don't you like BTRFS?... I really want to know? MrGrey.
  3. BIOS must show (be set to) the USB as the boot device. Saying that... my MB will only do it every 2nd/other boot. I can NOT consistently boot UnRaid, but I can consistently boot it with multiple attempts. *shrug* I have my "drive/flash" in a USB2 (as recommended). Do you? You mean UEFI?... and I don't understand the " - ". Maybe I have it good. MrGrey.
  4. Try Firefox. Chrome sucks and Edge is worse (at collecting your personal information and sharing it with everyone). Firefox also sucks, maybe that's why UnRaid uses it as its "default" browser. I don't know? MrGrey.
  5. I'm late too... Parity is only meant/used to have services continue to run when there's a true/real HD failure. Backups are everything and rsync is the best. I wish Windows had rsync, but that would ruin everything that Microsoft has planned to make our lives better. MrGrey.

Make sure you have a backup. Parity is only to make sure things keep running. MrGrey.

Don't buy used drives. I don't believe Binhex makes a preclear. A proper preclear on a 14tb drive takes about 3 days (you do the math compaired to 90 hours). MrGrey.
  8. Anything on the Internet can be self hosted... email is very diffucult. Don't use Zoho; very expensive. (jmho) MrGrey.
  9. I would wait for JorgeB to reply, but I think you have a failing drive. MrGrey.
  10. That's what I was going to say... And I'm still thinking the same thing... You're beyond me there. Maybe just ignore me. Then all is good? MrGrey.

    My bad... MrGrey.
  12. Do you have a USB drive(s) in your array? MrGrey.
  13. That's how I setup mine. Then I realized CA Autobackup is backing it up... but just now I see it's depricated? Best to not use community and backup ones self. Who is KluthR? My bad... Guess I can't keep up. MrGrey.
  14. Overclocking doesn't just effect what you're overclocking; your mainboard has to handle it as well (all those connections trying to deal with the heat/power). I don't have an answer, but I wouldn't trust anything after overclocking. MrGrey.
  15. 500W + (all Video Card requirements) + (5W * HD) = Your Power Supply Requirement. It's better to have more power than less because the PSU will never provide more than needed. MrGrey.
  16. Disable SMB1 (if you haven't already). I don't know what a Raven Document Scanner is, but I suspect it's a device attached via ethernet cable, or a device attached via USB to a device attached via an ethernet cable. If it's WIFI, you might just ignore me... How are you accessing UnRAID for management? I'm guessing WebUI, but that could be "local" (ip address) or through "MyServers" plugin? Windoze or Mak (or Linux) or directly plugged in monitor and keyboard? UnRaid is tightening security, as it should, and 6.10 to 6.11 is quite a leap. I'm sorry I don't have the answer yet... That is the most true error I've seen in a long, long time. MrGrey.
  17. You can run anything... I'm going to recommend ECC RAM and your motherboard won't support it (why?). What are you going to do?... Just build and learn. I know... (no one has the money to do that anymore)... ghost protocol. MrGrey.
  18. I suspect there is, but I wouldn't recommend it. How do you backup data that's important?... Think about that? To each their own... MrGrey.
  19. MrGrey replied to orlando500's topic in Lounge
I don't know... have they? MrGrey.
  20. LMFAO!... My apologizes, if needed... Then use something like Nextcloud, but you still need a "verified/certified" "ISP" to handle the email and make sure everything is synced. You can't run your own "DIY" email SMTP server. I'll recommend mailCheap, instead of mailChimp now. I really do hope this helps, MrGrey.
  21. Not at all (to answer the specific question). If, however, You want some sort of "maybe public" or "maybe private" access that's kind of available from/via/through the Internet!... Don't kid/fool yourself. If you want to access it outside your home, you need a reverse proxy or VPN (and I'm not talking about Nord, PIA, etc. -- you need your own). jmho. MrGrey.
  22. Because you didn't wait long enough?... one of your VMs didn't want to quit because it was doing something?... So... Now the flash/boot drive has a new bios to deal with?... This is why we backup. You use CA Backup?... please say you do because I think your photos are there if you do? Someone smarter than I will come along and give better news, I hope. MrGrey.
  23. First!... make sure nothing starts (Docker/VM) automatically. From there, it's easy. Unraid is Arch Linux (with a couple of proprietary bells and whistles). Anything that works in Arch Linux, works in UnRAID. Be careful if you're looking for low-level, drive-specific operations. MrGrey.
  24. You can't have a backup of your UnRAID USB (key/drive/thumb/whatever). MrGrey.

My best to you... Maybe post *one* of your best at new years? MtGrey.
