  1. If I bump it, being a newbie, is it more or less of a pain?... How do I make a poll? MGrey.
  2. Newbie here... Am I to understand that a "basic" Unraid operation is broken, or is it just the documentation? MGrey.
  3. You, @JonathanM, are a person that I respect (in many threads). I appreciate you taking the time to say what you've said. I agree with (mostly) everything that you've said. It doesn't change what I said -- which is, Bit of a shock here -- didn't realize I could quote myself like that... Anyway... I would certainly agree with, "poor documentation" (your words, not mine), but I might expand it to include that no one really knows. (big pause for effect). There should be a 'General Discussion' forum, way before anyone (new) sees "Support". I would post in 'General Questions/Discussion" (where people ask stuff before they fuck up), but I would NEVER post in 'General Support' because they (everyone there) know so much more than I do. It's just my (little) opinion. I wish everyone, most of all @JonathanM and @SpencerJ the most happiest of holidays, whether they be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other reason to celebrate whatever is important to you and yours. Mr. Grey.
  4. Reading General Support is a nightmare of convoluted problems that "many?" don't/do experience?. I, personally, have less confidence in Unraid after reading that forum. MGrey.
  5. General Support should be hard to find for newbies.
  6. My "dream" for Unraid would be for it to be a bulletproof NAS that outperforms TrueNAS/FreeNAS because of its proven reliability, scalability and durability under "similar" circumstances. Ya... That's all.
  7. If anything spins down my drives, I consider that a failure. To each their own.
  8. 7 months, 15 days (and counting)... A bit of a miracle in some respects. I'd be less than a month without the UPS -- 7 (outages) in the past year. My saving grace (maybe) is setting up most security (reverse proxy, etc.) via router -- a level/machine BEFORE Unraid services. Update: Just want to add (as I track "problems") that I'm finding more "things" are caused by applications that have nothing to do with Limetech. Of course, no one would use Unraid (a pure file system?) without the other applications. It's still running as expected.
  9. The question isn't clear (IMHO)... Is backup supposed to be part of it? My first (love?) had 2 x 5.25" (big) floppies and nothing hard.
  10. I have a similar setup (pfSense router / UnRAID server). Why do you reboot pfSense on a regular basis? I can understand why UnRAID would see loosing network access as a critical thing. Are you sure the "failure" is UPS related, or is it, "network gone" related?
