  1. This doesn't belong in the lounge.
  2. Best Internet for most is Gigabit (which is 100Mb per second). A mechanical HD can do 150Mb/sec easy. Maybe I'm missing something?... All of my SATA connections can do 6GB/sec. My motherboard has 24tb of bandwidth per second. Why is everything so slow? MrGrey.
  3. Use Microsoft or Google for easy. Use Unraid/Nextcloud for private/secure. There's no such thing as "cheap", if you want fast and good. MrGrey.
  4. I have only *one* media share.
  5. Welcome ingeborgdot. MrGrey.
  6. What is HA?... I've only heard of it as "High Availability" which is kind of redudndant when talking about servers. What are you trying to do? 6.
  7. You can't self host and spam away... Get a good email provider. Maybe you'd like MailChimp? I'm assuming you want to *send* lots of emails. Just my opinion. 6.
  8. You might be missing something, unless you explicitly trust windows explorer (read only, I know, ie: Microsoft -- they've never had any security issues, right?) 6.
  9. No it won't (in my experience)... You have to tell UnRAID every little thing that is going to happen within it... to the finest detail (and more). It's Arch Linux... 'nough said. There's no correct answer. MrGrey.
  10. Vaultwarden is an open source "server" for bitwarden (which is open source). At least, that's how I understand it. There is no "VS" -- they're the same software from the same *open source* code. Please explain what I'm missing, or misunderstanding? MrGrey.
  11. Flash drive (their cheap) and snail mail? Usenet? No.
  12. 6 what?... I have to ask; I know I shouldn't. MrGrey.
  13. To each their own. Hardware is all anything runs on. MGrey.
  14. A geek might look for an indexer. MrGrey.
  15. I don't know of any tutorial (specific to Unraid). You might want to understand that Usenet predates "the Web" by a decade. There is no... You search and you will find. Be humble and you will be accepted. Be a torrent whore and... well... to each their own. MrGrey.
  16. Backup. That's why you Backup If you have a backup, everything is easy and can take as much time as you need. Your plan looks sound, well thought out, even smart, but if you don't have backup... don't blame me if it goes sideways. MrGrey.
  17. I've been using the QNAP TR-004 with UNRAID for about 6 months. I searched for information before buying it and didn't find much, so I'm writing this... I had a WD-DL4100 fail (not the drives, the "OS/NAS"). I did not recover any data from the WD drives, but that didn't matter because I always backup everything. I believe (<-- take note of "believe") that when I first connected the TR-004 to UNRAID that it showed each, individual, drive within Unassigned Devices (UD). I wasn't interested in using the TR-004 as anything other than a RAID5 replacement for my WD-PIECE-OF-SHIT. Configured as RAID5 and operating via UD (not part of the UNRAID array), it's been working perfectly. It "shares" better than it did via the WD software. Don't try to use this as an XFS/UNRAID/array device; it works perfectly as a backup/additional storage device for me. I'm not affiliated with QNAP or UNRAID. I find them both to be making good "stuff." MrGrey.
  18. I'm running 6.11.2... latest stable release as I'm told. I've read a lot of stuff is "great" with parity checks being able to "span" days or weeks and within the hours prescribed. It doesn't work for me (and others). Maybe it's the new parity checking that's screwing things up? Grey.
  19. I use Digikam. Access is controlled/shared via local network for those allowed to view/edit. Sharing is done via "the cloud".
  20. I hate to bump this thread, but people need to know that security (security, freedom, anonymity, personality, news) starts, online, with having and controlling your own router which is your own access to the Internet. Unraid is a server; NOT a firewall.
  21. I believe Nextcloud will pay $10,000 for any information leading to an, "actionable" error. Go for it!
  22. I use Emby and Unraid. What are you looking for help with?... It won't be quick/fast/today... but it might be complete/forever. MrGrey.
