Nextcloud update fails due to Gateway timeout "504"
My Nextcloud always fails at "backup" and "others..." when I upgrade. My solution, that has always worked, it to wait (or refesh and be told to wait). In the end, it always works. I've just jinxed myself because I have an update to go through from 24.0.4 to 24.0.5... Wish me luck? Failed at Create Backup... I hit "reload" page... It says "Continue Update" (but not like a true question)... So , I do... ... It's downloading the update... I'm at "Deleting old files" -- it always fails here... YUP... another "refresh/reload"... Failed again at, "Move new files in place"... I knew I jinxed it... I hit refresh and it seems good if I continue... Now, I'm in the Nextcloud GUI and it's scary... I click, "Start Update"... It says an error occured... this is live... It says (on the screen) to reload the page... I will... My Nextcloud is again working perfectly. I'm sorry if this journey is out of context. MrGrey.

What is your go-to HDD manufacturer?
When my WD RAID (the actual box) failed (not the individual drives), I decided to give WD the absolute (not) support that everyone deserves. My first HD was a Seagate 250Mb, 5.25". It sucked. For me, WD is dead -- too many colors, not enough focus. Why do people complain about the drives they own?... 1... 2... 3... Answer... Because they own them?... Backup!... (with the drives you hate)... Oddly enough, that's what I'm doing. MrGrey. Still pro Seagate, but the WD drives (and replacement) are still going (for now).

HDD errors
When in doubt?... Backup and replace. No one can "confirm" a drive failure before you already know its happening before your eyes. I'm NOT saying your drive has failed. I continue to use a drive with a SMART error over 6 years old. Reread my first line. MrGrey.

Suggestions on keeping cold spare or use 2nd parity
Backup?... I'm so stupid, I assume everyone has one. Parity is to ensure things keep working right now. Backup is to ensure things keep working forever. MrGrey.

Can't connect UPS anymore: USB disconnect
It may be as simple as your UPS isn't working anymore (your words, not mine). Is there another way, without using Unraid, to test your UPS? Will a Windows or MAC box happily rely on it? MrGrey.

Cant install Plugins
Slow down Gunter. Everyone here is as overwhelmed as you are. Squid knows mostly everything you could ever want to know about plugins, but I'm not sure that's your frustration. Unraid works fine/well/perfect without any plugins at all. What/Why did you install plugins and for what purpose? MrGrey.

HBA Cards Stuck on Initializing
I'm no expert, but it's my understanding LSI cards are preferred and I've never heard of Fujitsu cards (again, no expert). No. I wouldn't trust Google and I don't know why anyone does. What seller on eBay? G.

Content creation workflow and storage best practices
I moved from Lightroom to Digicam. I know it's not a solution to your problem with Lightroom, but maybe? Your choices, above: 1) Continue and upgrade won't work (imho), and 2) That's why I dropped Lightroom, despite my wife screaming at me because she liked it so much. I use Digikam. The database is MariaDB via Unraid Docker (shared; no local crap). Because I know my family will never figure out Linux, I backup to a NTSF usb for them (<-- YES they do know what and where it is). Ooops... You didn't ask about backup. I can't pretend to know how many photos/videos you are processing every day (because you didn't offer). I hope this helps. Grey.

SSD backup format XFS or Ext4 as an Unassigned Device
Ask yourself... Who are you backing up for? I use NTSF for "family" backup stuff because they're only going to know how to plug a drive into a Windows or Mac. My own backup (system stuff), I use XFS because it works well with Unraid and can be read easily by a lot of different Linux systems. MrGrey.

Manually updating to 6.9.2 from 6.8.3
A test USB flash drive?... I've always been under the impression that you could only have one working flash drive; no testing/backup flash drive whatsoever. Perhaps, I'm missing something; like you have two licenses (duh 8^). MrGrey.

Import error in Sonarr/Radarr
I'm clutching at straws and *assuming* you have things setup (hopefully) as some popular videos demonstrate. Part of me wants to ask if you got a new router recently, or had an Internet issue, new provider?... The more I (re)read, the more it seems like a permissions problem (permissions tool won't change anything beyond basic access -- !someone correct me, if I'm wrong). Question: How long has this "setup" been working successfully for? I'm confident you'll find the answer Occlusion. If I were a Mod I would remove... ...because not all of us might subscribe to D+... *I do*, but like my son, prefer to watch without being tracked. Let me/us know how it goes. So few people post obvious solutions that everyone search for, right? MrGrey

Solution to support easy backup from iPhone and Apple Air
I use Nextcloud, self hosted on my Unraid. Using *I*anything is absolutely fine and very easy until... well... you need it. I've never met anyone that successfully restored anything from "iCloud" (just a fact, not saying anything was lost). To each there own. MG.

30 Drive Limit and Array vs Pools
Not an expert, but I'm pretty sure SpaceInvader has a ZFS pool in his main server. I don't know the specifics any more than anyone else who has watched his videos. I think it's a valid option, considering your resources. Unraid is uber-flexible, but 2 parity drives divided by 48?... I think the 30 drive limit is just LimeTech being nice and hoping people have common sense. I hope this helps. MG.

Cache system like unraid for linux system.
I believe Unraid is mostly Arch. I'm not a Linux expert, but I believe Ubuntu is mostly Debian. Maybe it's like asking Windows and Mac to be friends? MGrey.

[Question] Can Unraid be installed on a raspberry pi?
Couldn't say it better myself... UNLESS... you're just trying to make it run as a test and then it will work and you can post it on social media and "prove" all sorts of things. ... Like dividing by 0. MrGrey.

Krusader
I don't think Krusader was ever a "preferred" file manager. I like it for some things. MrGrey.

(6.9.2 and 6.10.2) Tower is non-responsive, need to be rebooted by pressing the boton.
Probably no help, but it reminds me of moving my server... Long story short, the "plug/power" was a switched (controlled by the light switch) plug. Every time I left it to test, I, unknowingly, turned the lights and power off. I thought it was so random. Mr. Grey.

Advice on backup (for my situation)
Today my WD-DL4100 died (good residence). It used to be my only NAS and Emby server. It taught me RAID (failure) via a drive failure, but I never thought the whole thing would pack it in and not start. WD sucks as a backup too? I now have 4 x 6tb drives with no interface. I don't want to put them into my Unraid server (ASUS WS X570-ACE, 32GB, lsi card, whatever, I like the "new" NAS more). *-- LOOK HERE --> If you had 4 x 6tb drives that you CAN'T put in your array/server; what "USB" device might you use for a backup device? I'll admit that I've been looking at a QNAP TR-004, but I'll deny it if it's a bad thing. Thanks to everyone for reading and any comments. Mr. Grey.

Cannot remove write protection.
If you have a reliable/tested BACKUP!?... then anything is a good, safe idea... Emphasis on the *backup* MrGrey.

new install - ssds and hdds
You have 2 x 8 = 16tb ssd and almost 2 x 12 = 24tb mechanical. And... 20 x power/case/cooling without any other care? Plex can work great with that, but you should try to do more. MrGrey
-
Cannot remove write protection.
Take your time. Windows sucks. Microsoft doesn't like Linux (i.e. Windows doesn't like Unraid). I had a fight between them tonight, but they need each other. The only thing useful I said was, take your time. MrGrey.

Radarr/sonarr or unraid deleting my files
Probably not the answer, but every application/program (Sonarr/Radarr/Plex/Emby/Jellyfin, etc...) have permission to delete everything (it's required to "write" it). Do you have a strong password to login to "everything" I mentioned above?... If I visit you (we're friends) and you give me WIFI access, is it easy for me (maybe without a password) to go to 192.168.0.1:8032 and I'm in your Sonarr? Mr. Grey.

Parity check says 300 errors, but disk logs show zero errors.
No. There are errors. I'm a newbie, barely using Unraid for a year or two, but I've found its errors to be better than most (I've only used Windows and Linux [mostly Arch]). Do you trust Unraid (as an OS) to give errors when it should? I think you have a parity error (multiples don't matter). Why would you parity check and not correct?... Teach me (if you can reduce yourself to my level). Mr. Grey
