  10. I am guessing this is why you put in the "skip SSD" option lol. These NVMe PCI-E slot adapters make these drives scream!
  11. Taking drive images requests? I have 2x NVMe SSD 970 EVO drives (my cache pool) that get a generic mechanical disk image. Drive ID: nvme1n1 (Cache 2) Vendor: Samsung Model: SSD 970 EVO Serial Number: S467NF0K6------ Revision: 1B2QEXE7 Capacity: 1TB RPM: Solid State Device Logical/Physical Sector Size: 512/512 I have attached a generic Amazon pic of the device. There is a Pro version as well.
  12. Right now, the one HBA (LSI 9201-16i) covers all the drives I have with 4 unoccupied bays ready to fill. I added Reverse breakout cable from four of the mobo SATA connections to cover the rest of the unoccupied bays. Well, the rest meaning everything else but the bottom backplane whose Molex connector I busted during the install. I emailed Norco but still haven't heard back from them. I have 7 empty drive bays ready to go so no biggies right now. For now, I have a 20 bay server.
  13. This is what I replaced. Only parts that came over to new build were the mechanical HDDs and the LSI 9201-16i.
  14. Follow up on how it went. I was offline almost 3 weeks due to 1st mobo mysteriously failing. I also took that opportunity to switch to a Norco case. The single most noticeable improvement is the speed of the 1TB NVMe cache pool. Well besides the industrial fan noise level. 15. My aim is to use both ethernet ports on the server so that my uploads to the array (cached) are not affected by the server's own downloading to the cache, particularly Plex DVR recordings. Can an expert take a look at my settings and tell me if I will be getting the benefit I seek. I tested doing a recording while uploading a 1GB file and looked like the upload speed from PC was the same as single NIC (i.e., split between the tasks).
  16. Reposting here due to my original being in the wrong group I am having an issue where Cache_Dirs stops running. Go into setting to check and the setting is still set to Enable but it is not running. Reapplying Enable gets it running again but it eventually turns itself back off next reboot.
  17. What I meant to end up with was less clutter. I understand there is no performance benefit. It's just a housekeeping thing.
  18. This is gone. No longer available. Unraid is unable to read proper temps & SMART values but the card does work and runs at full speed. Had it in my unRaid tower for years. It will work fine in Windows, etc., just has some limitations in unRaid. Free to good home. You just pay for shipping via PayPal. If you're interested, PM me your shipping address and I will give you the total. The bare card only. No original box, cables or software. Pulled from my home file server. I bought it used in 2015 (69.95). No problems gave lots of reliable service. Needed more ports so replaced with a larger card. 19. My unRaid USB key has been in use since before v4.7. Its gone through several different hardware setups, HBAs etc. With the new PC I am building, I want to start fresh with no extraneous folder/files. What is the recommended method for achieving clean install goodness? I have a fairly uncomplicated setup with 3 dockers, bunch of plug-ins (including CA). Dual parity for a total of 13 disks. I have created a new key (soon with trial license) for testing the new box (not quite there yet tho... moving kind of slow on the build). questions I can think of right now... 1. should I replace my USB key? Its the original from the beginning (SanDisk Cruzer Micro U3) created 10/25/2010. 2. in making the clean USB key, what do I need to bring over from the old to retain disk config, dockers & plug-ins (and all their settings)?
  20. I am having an issue where Cache_Dirs stops running. Go into setting to check and the setting is still set to Enable but it is not running. Reapplying Enable gets it running again but it eventually turns itself back off.
  21. Server hung last night sometime (did not reboot itself this time). Totally unresponsive this morning. Only a flashing cursor on the monitor. No access via the network, shares not visible and of course Plex not found. Had to hard reset the box to restart it. Looking at cache pool it didn't complete the Mover process. tower-diagnostics-20180906-0850.zip
  22. The current server is getting long in the tooth so I am gathering parts for a new build. Anyone see any problems with this combo? LSI HBA & drives will be migrated from the current box. Current SSD cache pool will be replaced with NVMEs via the PCI adapters.
