[Plug-In] Community Applications

I keep getting this error when trying to install...

The plugin was actually installed an d worked for years, but wouldn't upgrade since recently (same error as below).

plugin: run failed: 'upgradepkg --install-new --reinstall' returned 127

Please advise, it's driving me crazy. Already tried deleting everything (CA plugin folders on thumb flash drive), to get a "clean" install, but to no avail. Also tried restarting array. Also tried changing DNS.

I also get this error when trying to directly install through the plugins tab -> "Install Plugin"

Hi everyone

after upgrading to OS 7.0.1 Community application stopped working with error

Download of appfeed failed.
Community Applications requires your server to have internet access. The most common cause of this failure is a failure to resolve DNS addresses. You can try and reset your modem and router to fix this issue, or set static DNS addresses (Settings - Network Settings) of 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 and try again.

Alternatively, there is also a chance that the server handling the application feed is temporarily down. See also this post for more information

Last JSON error Recorded: Syntax error

last post I found was back in 2023 and it seems it was from Unraid side and things back to normal after a while

My DNS works fine and tried a couple of different ones they all failed with same error.

anyone having same issue?

Thanks

can confirm here on 1 mashine on a family place, with v7 ... no more app feeds possible, will try again later and post the logs here.

issue is fixed for me

my case:

my server has 2 NICs set as bond (active backup) as far as I can remember, a few days ago I disabled the bonding for testing purposes then I removed the cable from the server for some reason Unraid set the default routing table to the unplugged NIC (this happen after I upgraded to OS 7.0.1 and rebooted).

Solution:

I simply set the metric values for each NIC (1 for the active and 2 for the unplugged) in settings --> network settings

and everything back to normal.

Hope this will be useful.

Regards

I had the same issue, I upgraded straight to 7.0.1 without upgrading to 7.0 first. This is why the issue was happening for me. I downgraded, upgraded to 7.0 ,got a popup to apply a patch (Unraid Patch),applied it, then upgraded to 7.0.1. The issue was fixed then.

edit: It could have just been the act of having it re-update unraid that fixed it, but either way this is what fixed it for me.

Not sure why this is happening, but will check it all out.

This still doesn't work properly. I'm on 7.0.0 and I get the below screenshot constantly when I visit the apps page. I'm on the latest version and I do not have the tailscale plugin installed.

Hey all,

Wonder if someone can help. I'm unsure where this error lies, but I'm getting constant "Browser failed to communicate with Unraid Server" faults, reloading the page. Checking the diagnostics, I can see segment faults within the PHP when it's doing requests. I contacted unraid support, who mentioned doing full diagnostics of the hardware, which all reported as fine. I've even tried TruNAS just for the sake of testing and I had 0 errors with that. They said there isn't much more they can recommend and suggested posting here because it's a CA store issue. Reloading the page with the error makes the error reappear. Maybe after the 6th one it will go away for around 20 seconds. Basically, the CA store is unusable for me as I have to reload it each time I search for anything.

PHPSettins logs shows no errors.

The issue was because '[' character

CA is extremely security conscious.  In particular, from years ago, it was very common in descriptions of containers to use [ ] to embed html instead of < >.  Big security issue for CA, so anything that can be construed as an html tag (including [ ]) basically gets dropped.

Is it possible to get a full list of XML tags available? You can't use the UI even in development mode to get to many of them from what I can tell and trying to find them in this thread is a bit of a nightmare. Maybe a github account that has every XML option available that is maintained by @Squid?

I found these so far but I know its missing things like <Beta>

<Changes>

  • • Description: Provides a changelog or additional information about the application.
  • • Implementation: When this tag is included in the XML template, an information icon appears next to the application’s name in CA. Clicking on it displays the changelog or more details.
  • • Reference: Introduced on June 2, 2015.

2. <multiLanguage>

  • • Description: Indicates that the application supports multiple languages.
  • • Implementation: Set this tag to true in the XML template to inform CA that the application is multi-language compatible. This is particularly useful for applications whose GUIs allow users to switch between languages easily.
  • • Reference: Introduced on March 29, 2020.

3. <TemplateURL>

  • • Description: Specifies the URL where the application’s template can be found.
  • • Implementation: Including this tag ensures that CA can reference the correct template URL. If set to false, CA will not populate it automatically, preventing dockerMan from re-adding deleted variables during container updates. This requires manual editing of the XML template.
  • • Reference: Discussed on February 22, 2020.

4. <Config> Elements (Type: Variable, Path, Port, etc.)

  • • Description: Defines various configuration parameters for the application, such as environment variables, volume mappings, and port assignments.
  • • Implementation: The <Config> elements are part of the version 2 (v2) schema of the XML template. They provide a structured way to specify configuration details. While version 1 (v1) elements like <Environment>, <Volume>, and <Publish> are still supported for backward compatibility, it’s recommended to use the v2 <Config> elements for new templates.
  • • Reference: Clarified on February 22, 2020.

5. <Overview> vs. <Description>

  • • Description: Provides a detailed description of the application.
  • • Implementation: The <Overview> tag is part of the v2 schema and is preferred for new templates. The <Description> tag belongs to the v1 schema. It’s advisable to use <Overview> in v2 templates to maintain consistency and take advantage of the latest features.
  • • Reference: Discussed on February 22, 2020.

6. <Category>

  • • Description: Categorizes the application within CA.
  • • Implementation: Assigning appropriate categories to applications helps users find them more easily within CA. Authors are encouraged to categorize their applications accurately.
  • • Reference: Mentioned on May 29, 2015.

7. <Icon>

  • • Description: Specifies the URL to the application’s icon.
  • • Implementation: Including this tag ensures that the application’s icon is displayed correctly within CA.
  • • Reference: Discussed on April 3, 2020.

8. <WebUI>

  • • Description: Defines the URL to access the application’s web interface.
  • • Implementation: Including this tag allows users to access the application’s web UI directly from CA.
  • • Reference: Discussed on April 3, 2020.

Everything is documented (especially the tags which CA has added) over here

But, if you ever happen to look at the template being passed from CA over to dockerMan, there are a ton of internal tags also present which are not documented (no need), and always written over by CA itself regardless of what you might try and utilize in a template

No problem with safari.

Addtional, in docker and vm page, language translation is not correct(i use simplified chinese). This has something to do with the search failure

It's a security change that I made on the back end appfeed that had the unexpected side-effect of breaking the file in diagnostics.  Already know how to fix on the back-end, but priorities shift sometimes and hasn't been implemented yet.

Probably a day or two

And that is the information which I needed to know if you continued to have the problem.  Still weird that Safari works, but it's something for me to go on.
