[Support] Linuxserver.io - Plex Media Server

If you think it's perms related I believe linuxserver.io places an empty file in the appdata folder to tell it that's its done the perms thing already. Delete that file and it should reprocess all perms(FYI, this might take A WHILE).

So THAT is what that file (*.lck) is for. I thought it indicated that it had something locked and had failed to finish. I keep deleting it when I see it. I will just leave it alone now.

I also recently had some permissions issue with trying to upgrade to Plex 0.9.17.2. The new version moves files/codecs used with Channels and my misfit install (first needo, then limetech, then needo, then linuxserver, back to needo, and finally linuxserver) failed with permission denied errors when running the codec updates for channels. Channels are broken. Decided to wipe Plex appdata and start fresh with linuxserver. After all that Channels still broken, Plex support looking into it, and I have 1500 movies to review for matching errors. :P But I have a PMS docker that is clean and proper now.

Any reason why I am continuously getting

Received packet from invalid interface.

from my Plex Logs when running docker logs plex?

What version of Unraid you using?  I used to see this in my syslog a few releases back, I remember it being harmless and that archedraft and I both saw the same thing.

I have not seen those in Plex logs, however they have been sighted in UnRaid logs and IIRC they are harmless communication with windows 10 pcs (vague recollection)? You should not have them with the latest 6.1.9 version as they have been suppressed.

I am using 6.1.9

No Windows 10 PC's in the house. No Windows machines at all actually.

When I open up my syslog in the unraid gui this is pretty much the only log I see repeated to infinity....and it is definitely coming from Plex.

sudo apt-get install in my usefile.sh didn't work, i might need to run apt-get upgrade or add the repos, but honestly i dont want to break everything else that works perfect just for this. is everything in the docker contained within itself? if i do this, the dependencies should not break anything outside of the plex docker right?

i'm almost tempted to run another instance of plex in a vm or on another machine and just share the channel (apparently this is a thing now) so as to not mess up anything, and if i do i can just wipe the vm and start over.

Some points:

- be sure you start the script with "#!/bin/bash" line

- be sure you are using Linux line endings, and not Windows.

- use apt-get install -y -q <package name> or else it will fail waiting on you to approve it.

Also check the log from the unRAID Docker GUI to see the progress of the script.

Am I to assume that since plex redid there site today and released version 1.0.0 we probably need an updated docker?

Works perfectly for me too. Just restarted the docker as usual, no special action required.

started working now for me, maybe something was down this AM.

Steps to update to 1.0

1. Reboot Docker Image

2. Login to Plex

3. Confirm 1.0

Well that was easy...

The default installed docker will read .9.16.3 (or something), once you reboot your docker image you'll see you are updated to 1.0.

you can watch the update from default by opening the plex docker log to the right of the icon as soon as you restart the docker. :)

Is the Plex 1.0 restricted to Plex Pass members or is it available for non-members? I have stopped/restarted the Docker and am still on 0.9.16.6. Log below...

there seems to be a certain degree of ambiguiity regarding that a manual update is needed to go to version 1.x from 0.9x

bearing that in mind i triggered an image refresh so that it now has 1.x. check for updates via the docker tab and update the docker that way.

I'm on 1.0 automatically. I didn't even realise I as on 1.0. :)

I have tried stopping/restarting the docker from Dashboard - Apps and also Docker - Check for Updates and it refuses to update me to 1.0. It just says "Using version: 0.9.16.6.1993-5089475 from Public latest".

PMS itself of course says there is an update available.

What do I check next, please?

EDIT : Oh, hang on a moment - I just spotted the Advanced View button and that revealed the Force Update option. Let me see how that goes... brb.

update the image from the unraid webui

Sorted - the Advanced View - Force Update did the trick.

No idea why the Basic View - Check for Updates did not though.

For some reason, I don't see the "Force Update" in Advanced View. Running Unraid 6.1.9

Update: Restarting the docker container updated Plex to 1.0. Thanks!

Anyone having weird Plex issues recently with it keeping track of watched status etc.

Please was working fine for many months, but now is

  • not marking shows as watched when I get to the end
  • not remembering when I left off and allowing me to resume
  • not adding items I'm watching to the "on deck" section

I'm assuming its something related to the latest update, although I hadn't even noticed it had updated!

Anyone got any ideas?

There are several reports about issues with watched status at the Plex forum. Some clients works fine but a few have this issue.

Thanks yeah, it seems PHT now doesn't work properly with PMS and isn't going to be fixed!
