Speedtest.net for unRAID 6.1+

I have the exact same issue. I ended up trying SpeedTest++ as a docker. That gave me accurate results in the few hundred mbit/s range.

If you go to setting and go to v0.3.4. It works fine for me.

  • I also updated python and pip for 6.7 and added setuptools as a separate package

  • Thanks for that. Just in case someone else has this issue and to expand upon what @dmacias said. I had to go into Nerdtools and set it to download and install the pip package. Once that was done every

@Nelinski Can you tell how you install SpeedTest++ in unraid ?

I installed it via Community Applications -> DockerHub. You can enable DockerHub searching in the community applications as seen below by clicking "Apps - > Settings"

The version I'm using is called "speedtest-plus-plus" by eyeruleall. If you run the docker, it'll show you your speedtest results in the docker log file.

Hi all. This plug has been working great for years, but I see today the results have all vanished and when I try to run a test I get an error. Screen-shots attached.

I have tried removing and re-installing the plugin.

Anyone know what this might be?

Graph disappeared for me on Wednesday and the button/schedule also doesn't work.

However, running speedtest-cli through the terminal is still fine.

Looks like your file /boot/config/plugins/speedtest/speedtest.xml is corrupted.

You can just remove it, it is the history of speedtest. It will create new one.

Still not working for me at all even after a reinstall:

Meanwhile speedtest-cli works perfectly :(

Does someone get Speedtest work with Custom Tab? And the Charts disappeared a few weeks ago... the normal result image works, but the chart does not.

Hi team,

Same issue here, suddenly the accuracy of the measurement went down by using this tool.

It seems Ookla Speedtest changed their protocol, in an unofficial undocumented fashion, and once the server you are used to connect for proximity reason is updated, it starts to provide these low numbers.

It still unclear to me what is the protocol they use, and why it seems to be impacting also speedtest done from my web browsers (Safari, firefox, and chrome), but works well with speedtest app or cli app.

It's time to adapt.

I went to use "speedtest-tracker". It's an unraid docker app, and works perfectly well for me.

Here is a link to their unpaid forum page and GitHub :

i tried speedtest-tracker for a few month, but it doesn't work well for me. after round about two weeks i can't accees any webui if speedtest-tracker is running. the only way is to restart my whole unraid-server.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey @sonic6, I'm the dev of speedtest-tracker. I don't run mine on my unraid server, but haven't had anyone else create an issue or anything with this bug. You don't have any logs or anything I could look at to figure out why it was playing up do you?

hi @henryw3, i stoped using speedtest-tracke a few weeks ago. i am not sure, but maybe the uploaded diagnostics is from the last time i reboot becaus of the bug.

after the last docker update i started using speedtest-tracker again. if i have problems again i will contact you.

I had a similar issue after upgrading all of my applications and Unraid to 6.8.2.  I had to go into Settings -> Nerdpack and update a few packages.  I think it was libffi that was the problem.

Thanks for this quick fix.  I set speedtest to run at 0300 every night.  Just  noticed it was not working. This is why this forum/unRAID is the best.  :)

Hi @lovswr,

I would suggest you to use another time like 3:12 or 3:17 AM, as round times are generally used by many people for automated speedtests, so you generally have less relevant results due to the Speedtest Server actual load you are connecting to.

My 2 cents.

so @henryw3 here i am again. speedtest-tracker works fine for 3 weeks and today, i'm unable to access the webpage with 504 Gateway Time-out. What do you need for informations?

There anything not expected in the docker logs? And could you send through /config/www/storage/logs/laravel.log

*edit 2* so, today i have to reboot my server, because i can't access unraid anymore. need to be powerdown.

FYI  no idea if this is your problem or not, but custom tab boils down to a hack on the system.   If you're using it to point to a plugin then the custom tab will be outdated if the plugin gets an update.   To bring then back into sync you have to either remove and readd the tab or reboot the server

Anyone else outside of the US have an issue happen where it will only provide US testing servers? I used to have a bunch of options for Toronto (~45 KM away) and now the closest one it offers is the TWC server in Syracuse (~230 KM away). Removed the app and reinstalled with the same result.

I just ran a manual test and it used Teksavvy in the 6ix.  My daily auotmated test are using Bell Mobility or Bell Canada in North York and Toronto, respectively.

Can I just say “thank you” for such a useful application.  I’ve been having terrible problems with my home broadband (aka it’s been down 5 weeks!) and is flaky when it worked. I’ve therefore been trying a 4G router (and vpn to get around CGNAT) and your app has been crucial in determining if this was a valid solution.

BTW as a Zend Framework/PHP/JavaScript/JQuery developer I’m intrigued by Laravel/React so your app looks an interesting one to peek at :)

Cheers mate, that's good to hear.

The laravel stuff is sound imo, but I think the react bit is pretty messy so maybe don't look to closely at that haha

Anyone else having trouble with the server list? I’ve been running mine daily with no issues for a while, but when I went to do a manual test recently it threw back nothing. So I popped into settings where I had manually selected a nearby Spectrum server and the list that’s coming up now has very few servers and none anywhere near my state (Florida). If I go to the Speedtest website it auto selects the nearby server so I don’t know what’s going on.

to make sure it was still at least working I changed it to Auto and it selected something in Nebraska or something. It worked though and didn’t give any errors.

Same problem here in England.

Mine cleared up by the next day. Not sure what’s going on. It was weird.
