Hello IPS! Forum Migration Complete!

Recommended Posts

If you're seeing this post, it means that the forum migration from SMF to IPS has been completed and the new system is now live!  A couple of quick reminders for folks that are logging in for the first time:

  1. Your login ID and password should be the same as they were with SMF.  If you cannot recall your password, you can reset it using your e-mail address.  If you are still having issues logging in, e-mail us at [email protected].
  2. Your signatures will likely need to be recreated.  Apologies for the inconvenience.  It appears signatures have been preserved, but you have to enable them.  Click your username in the top right, then Account Setttings, then click Signature.  Enable the option to View Signatures.
  3. All categories, forums, topics, posts, and private messages have been preserved from SMF.  If you notice any content missing, please let us know.
  4. All links to old content in SMF should be automatically intercepted and converted on the fly to take you to the correct content within IPS.  If you click an old SMF link (either from a Google search or a link embedded within another thread) and it doesn't take you to the correct content, please let us know.
  5. All BB code tags should have been converted properly to the new format(s) needed by IPS.  If you notice BB codes natively inside forum content, please let us know.
  6. Forum permissions should match that as they were before.  If you notice you can't post somewhere you're used to or if you can post somewhere you know you shouldn't, please let us know.
  7. Tapatalk integration is still being worked on right now, but we expect to have that up soon as well.  As of 10:00 PM CST, Tapatalk appears to be working again.  Please report back here if you notice any problems with Tapatalk.
  8. Note:  There are still some background processes running that will complete later tonight.  Some forum functionality may be missing until this completes.  Please report anything unusual you see to us by replying here in this thread.

In addition, we currently maintain all of our developer and community-provided documentation in the wiki, which relies on a bridge to SMF for login integration.  Until such a time as we are able to either replace the wiki with an alternative solution, or install a bridge between IPS and MediaWiki, we will be reliant upon SMF logins to make edits to the wiki.  We will not be maintaining a database sync between the old SMF forums and the new IPS forums, so it will be upon the user to remember the difference in login method and credentials.  Remember, you don't need to login in order to view the wiki, only to make changes to it.  The link to the forum archive is http://lime-technology.com/oldforum/

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we went through this process.  It took a lot longer than we expected, but we're sure the benefits of the new system will have been worth the wait!

Update as of 10:10PM CST:  It appears that the wiki is down at the moment.  We are working to restore it as quickly as possible.

Update as of 10:16PM CST:  The wiki has been restored.  We have also increased the performance to our hosting server which should provide increased responsiveness when browsing and posting.  Let us know if you continue to have any performance problems accessing the forum.

Update as of 10:40PM CST:  The final background processes for the forum migration have been completed and all functionality has been restored.  If you have any performance or functional issues with the forums, please let us know.  Thank you!!

hmm, looks like e-mail notifications aren't sending correctly.  Investigating...

How is the server handling the load, im on a Samsung note 5 att and refreshing sometimeso takes 1 minute or more.  Not bad

Just curious.

Yes, I'm noticing some performance issues right now too, but that could be a combination of a lot of people trying to all login right now while the server is still completing some indexing jobs.  We will be monitoring server load and performance and after the indexers are complete, we'll see if we still have an issue to resolve.

At first it was nice and fast.. now that old URL is auto-forwarded its a little slower... likely several background tasks still happening.

You can't.  That's by design.  If you want a topic removed, message one of us and we'll remove it.  We don't want folks to be able to blow away past content.

Fair enough, but there are also issues with editing after such and such time frame has expired.

I can edit one of the posts I've made on the new software, but not another one (it let me edit it once).  Furthermore, I am unable to edit my old posts (which I have to do constantly eg: The All Applications & Support Threads) - Not to mention that BB Code containing the width parameter is messing up (see the all apps thread)

Ok, let me check settings.  You are in a few special groups so there may be permissions overlap that's messing up.  That is NOT by design ;-)

I'm having a problem with PMs, only got six in my inbox (just had a cull) still won't let me send any as it says my inbox is full, also can't see where the sent items are, as that may well be contributing to things.

Can you give it another go and see if it works?

It is possible that you weren't getting notifications because we didn't have the e-mail settings correct.  That has been rectified now and should be working.

Maybe. Just noticed that no notification settings were selected in my account settings. Definitely working now though. Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
