[Support] Djoss - HandBrake

Hello, I'm having difficulty having stuff auto converted from the 'Watch' folder. The watch folder sees the content, but nothing happens. The user and group are set the same as other Docker containers.

docker exec HandBrake ls -l /watch
total 46018432
drwxr-xr-x 1 app users 102 Jul 15 21:18 Blade.II.2002.1080p.BluRay.Remux.AVC.DTS-HD.MA.7.1-playBD

Watch directory input as: /mnt/user/Downloads/completed/4k/auto/

If I use the GUI, I can access that folder and manually start the conversion.

What does your docker container settings for handbrake look like?
Also, when you click on handbrake there is a logs option. Click the logs option and then rename the video. Watch the logs window and see what handbrake reports.

Also, looking at the ls -l listing ..those files don't seem to have a file extension on them (.iso, .mkv, .mp4). You might need to change this docker option:

Handbrake didn't do anything when I renamed an ISO file. The remaining stuff in the watch folder are more folders, so I suspect that might be why nothing is happening. So, I dragged a movie file to the root of the 'Watch' folder and I got a bunch of these:

So attached is what the log should have looked like. I'm unfamiliar with the errors in your log but it seems to indicate something wrong with the container.

1. What version of unraid are you running?
2. What version of Handbrake?

I tested this issue out by making an ISO out of a blu-ray and then put it into the watch folder. In my case it was ignored per the

Automatic Video Converter: Non-Video File Action:
setting in the docker settings.

When I tried to manually import it handbrake ignored it.

From what I found it doesn't appear as though handbrake supports ISO's. Is there a reason you are using ISO's instead of mkv's?

"Can not read or write the directory"

Was having issues with the automated Watch Folder with the latest build of UnRaid along with the latest build of Handbrake, so decided to try and convert a file manually. No matter what I do though, this error comes up. Latest attempt was to completely remove, and reinstall Handbrake but this hasn't helped.

It has been installed with default User ID 99 and Group ID 100, though I've also tired other User ID's to match ID Admin 1000, though this makes no differences. Have also done the New Permissions tool, leaving out the App Data folder as suggested.

Any suggestions???

I'm new to using this HandBrake docker and am also having trouble with auto video conversion /watch.  A manual conversion of the same folder is successful so the path(s) are read/writeable.

Any ideas?

Is nobody else experiencing permission issues?  I'm at a loss.  If anyone has any ideas, please share.  I've tried:

  1. Re-installing the docker, using defaults
  2. Created new public handbrake share with watch and output folders.
  3. Verified permissions
    1. unraid watch folder permissions: drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 51 Aug  1 18:10 watch/
    2. unraid output folder permissions: drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users  6 Aug  1 18:04 output/
    3. container watch folder permisions: drwxrwxrwx   1 app  users   51 Aug  1 18:10 watch
    4. container output folder permissions: drwxrwxrwx   1 app  users    6 Aug  1 18:04 output
  4. Set "Use cache pool" in share settings to 'No'  (also tried 'Yes' with #5 below)
  5. Tried all 3 read/write access modes (read/write ..slave.. shared)
  6. ID if the user the application runs as: 99
  7. ID of the group the applicaion runs as: 100

I struggle to understand if this is on unRAID or Handbrake side.  This seems to be the code where the error come from.

    # Skip video if it is not readable.
    if [ ! -r "$video" ]; then
log "Skipping '$video': not readable, check permissions."
        return
    fi

I pulled down version 1.24.2 by editing the docker repository value.

from:

to:

jlesage/handbrake:v1.24.2

The automatic conversion immediately kicked off without permission issue.

Thank you! Much appreciated. Removed my full install of Handbrake and the Apps folder files for it, did a re-install this way and its working!

See 4 posts up.  The work-around is to use previous version v1.24.2.  Edit the docker settings and change the repository value to jlesage/handbrake:v1.24.2

I'm using zocker160's NVENC-enabled fork of the HandBrake docker and I can't set it to output to mkv at all; it doesn't give the option, only to mp4 (the default) or to m4v. I've tried adding the AUTOMATED_CONVERSION_FORMAT parameter as a variable (copying exactly from jlesage's docker setup, only changing the value from mp4 to mkv) and it's not working; any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to get a Sab -> Handbrake workflow going. Currently Sab's 'completed' folder goes into Handbrake's 'watch' folder, but then Handbrake is beginning to transcode before Sab has fully unpacked. Is there any way for Handbrake to ignore certain folders, so it waits until the /_UNPACK folders have gone?

I'd recommend Tdarr instead, watching over target folders only.

Thanks in advance!

I had this as well.  Ended up being my web browser.  I cleared browser data and it worked again.

Thanks for this. I just ran into the same issue. Is there any word on this being corrected?

Edited edit-

The issue for me was making sure to select the output folder and THEN navigating to the location you want to save. This Reddit post helped. (near bottom)

haven't used Handbrake in awhile.   Went to trancode and found handbrake wouldn't start.  When I try and change the container settings I get this error at the end and it fails.

docker: Error response from daemon: symlink /var/lib/docker/containerd/daemon/io.containerd.runtime.v2.task/moby/233a8876d0314e4f60df341b1c13d9eef33cf11df83a24d17706fae0fa29be29 /var/run/docker/containerd/daemon/io.containerd.runtime.v2.task/moby/233a8876d0314e4f60df341b1c13d9eef33cf11df83a24d17706fae0fa29be29/work: no space left on device: unknown.

The command failed.

im on 6.10.3 still,   any idea what might have changed?
