choakem
Question: I have a Ryzen 9 processor and I am encoding H265 but I've noticed I'm only getting about 30% CPU utilisation. Other than installing a second instance of Handbrake - Is there any plans to support multiple Encodes at the same time? Thank-you for all your hard work.... I really do appreciate the hard work and expertise required. Note: When I have tried a second instance of Handbrake - I have to use different watch folder otherwise they will both encode the same content at the same time. Quote Link to comment

Like, for example, in the Windows version? You can add an environment variable named "LANGUAGE", with its value being the language you want (e.g. "fr_FR.UTF-8"). Quote Link to comment

Yeah currently simultaneous encodes is not supported, but this is a good suggestion. Could you add you feature request to https://github.com/jlesage/docker-handbrake/issues, so it doesn't get lost ? choakem
Djoss, Github request added. As an interim measure - is there any parameter I can use that will move the currently encoding content into a non-watch folder during the encode so that the second instance wont try to encode the same ? Pre-script maybe?? #Hopefull Look Thanks for reading! Quote Link to comment

kcgodwins
Love this container, use it all the time on my Unraid box. I'm trying to mimic this functionality on a Windows box using Handbrake, particularly the "watch" and "automatic conversion" functionality, but I've not yet figured out how to do this. Does anyone have any information on how I can accomplish this or links to any resources that can help me out? Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment

It can monitor up 5 different watch folders defined as /watch /watch1 ....... It does exactly what you need - Please post your config.... container path /watch Host path /mnt/storage/MyContentToBeEncoded It will monitor /mnt/storage/MyContentToBeEncoded for any content to be encoded.... Details are in the config of the docker instance........ Quote Link to comment

[email protected]
Hello All, Quick question that I cannot seem to figure out. In the GUI, I've imported a custom preset called 'YIFY" and I want to pass this as an argument to the Docker. In the logs i see that it cannot find my preset. I tried 'Automatic Video Convertor preset to 'My Presets/General/YIFY' and tried 'Custom/General/YIFY' but see the same error Preset Not Found. Any body know how to use a 'custom preset' like this? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
choakem
[email protected] What I do - I open GUI of HandBrake - Import the preset using the "preset" toolbar within the handbrake GUI & I also set it as default. Then I save the preset using "save as" and stick it into the General Catagory and confirm its there by "view" preset List and confirming my preset is within the General Catagory Within the Docker container Automatic Video Converter: Preset: General/YIFI Should do the trick Quote Link to comment

ConnerVT
I've been using Handbrake from the djaydev repository (by dee31797), but he has stopped development and all of his dockers are now deprecated. As I have only a lowly 4 core CPU in the server, this docker was a lifesaver as it could make use of my nVidia Quatro. Do you have any plans in supporting nVidia transcoding in the future? I recommend that you don't uninstall @dee31797's Handbrake docker until we can get an answer from @Djoss whether it will be supported in the future. I'm with you though. Handbrake with NVENC support is my secondary docker application. If you are automating your encodes, you may want to check out Unmanic as that will support hevc-nvenc. 1 Quote Link to comment
DayspringGaming
Just installed this docker as the other Handbrake docker went the way of the dodo. I've passed through the NVidia unRAID parameters - but not seeing the NVENC choice within the UI. Is this not a thing with this image? Quote Link to comment

The NVENC support was what made djaydev's Handbrake docker image special... Losing that build is a huge loss.... Perhaps someone else could fork his work from djaydev/handbrake on github or dockerhub and make it available. I have used Spaceinvaderone's guide to downloading new media to a watch folder, and then sonarr/radarr moves the newly transcoded media to the array. I found a 720p quality setting for TV shows, and a 1080p setting for Movies that I felt like retained the quality, saved a ton of space, but also allows most of our devices to direct play. Many remux 45 min 1080p episodes are about 4gb, but my 720p x264 version averages about 1.2gb. I will be able to continue using djaydev's handbrake since I already had it before it went away. I feel bad for anyone else that wants to use it and can't find it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Djoss
The problem with NVENC is that Nvidia doesn't provide source code for their library, nor provide version for Alpine/musl (on which this container is based on). Quote Link to comment

ritty
A quick solution for hardware encoding with nvidia GPUs. Use this docker then replace the repository with "zocker160/handbrake-nvenc"...obviously make sure to set your nvidia gpu up in the template (similar to plex or other apps). Works like a charm - went from 30 mins down to 5 mins per movie Boooo ya 2 Quote Link to comment
