[Support] ich777 - Gameserver Dockers

Featured Replies

HI ich777;

I really appreciate your great work and already use some of your gameserver Dockers. Is it somehow possible to get a DayZ Server for the DayZ Standalone (DayZ SA) from Steam? Every way I could find to setup a DayZ server requieres windows OS and is only avaiable through steamCMD. I just would like to see a normal vanilla DayZ Server as a docker so I could easily host one for my own.
If you need anything to do that feel free to PN me.

No, this is not possible.

DayZ, also like a few other games (Space Engineers,...) are designed without Linux in mind and doesn't run with WINE.

You need a Windows machine or VM to run this game or at least the dedicated server.

@ich777
Thanks a lot of this work... I'm happy with my Ark-Server on my Unraid-Server, but one problem:

The changes to the gameusersettings.ini won't recognize by the server... Is there an option to change that? Or otherwise, where are the settings.ini stored, so i can change these?

What settings exactly?

Have you turned on valdiation on start in the template, if yes, please turn it off!

Validation is off... I mean the settings for the server settings... This what in the template can change, but I've got a ini i want to use, because I have many changes to the engine, game and gameusersettings.ini.

By hosted servers, i can change these files, and the server will use it after a restart.

I know what you mean but since most of the changes are defined in the template I wanted to know what exact settings.

The files and the settings should be respected accordingly, have you already read the second recommended post on top from @Cyd?

Are you sure that you've stopped the Docker in the first place, changed the files and then start the Docker again?

I'm not really the Ark specialist but maybe @Cyd can help here, this is the first time that I've hear that the settings in the files are not respected.

Yes... The docker is stopped... The changes in the template are recognized, but I don't find the file, where changes from the template are made off. The normal ini's are not touched... Like the server uses the dynamicconfig. But I don't made changes to use the dynamicconfig.

Like in the screenshots, the gameusersettings.ini with 5 MB is not recognize by the server.671499079_Bildschirmfoto2021-12-05um12_20_49.thumb.png.88d6a2fac26e294f9f8f8fc951d4a21c.png2047564156_Bildschirmfoto2021-12-05um12_30_31.thumb.png.cb317f4298e2dd809ac05aa86b4a4b22.png

Have you copied over the file or did you edit it, seems to me that you've copied it over or am I wrong?

I would always recommend to edit the file, or at least past in the changes.

Are you sure that this file contains no error, 5MB seems a lot to me...

Was file running on a Windows server before or on Linux?

As said the files should work fine if you change anything.

dynamicconfig

I would strongly recommend that you wait for @Cyd because I really can't help with this.

I copied the file, like I always do by Ark servers...

I can try to edit the file and test it. Thx

Yes, you need to install a second instance and change the ports in the config files, delete the old ports and create new ones in the template.

I tried add a new container from template, changed name, change all the port to +1 (27016) added new token.

Do i need to make a new "ServerFiles" dir? ex. /mnt/cache/appdata/cstrikego_2 ?

Did you change it or did you delrted the old ports and created new ones in the template and did you change the config too?

Yes.

i only change, but i can try delete and add them again. All 3? GAME_PORT, TCP RCON & UDP?

And what config do i need to change?

Thanks for all the help btw, King!

That won't work, Steam ports doesn't like it to be translated into another port.

GAME_PORT, TCP RCON & UDP

The description from the UDP Gameport variable should say all:

UDP Gameport (if you need another port, please delete this entry and create a new UDP Port with the required port number, also don't forget to click an 'Show more settings ...' and change the port number

Change the Game Port to 27016 delete the old UDP Game Port and create a new UDP port wit host and client 27016.

Done.

Can you post your Diagnostics please?

Have you installed a Cache device in your system? If yes to what is it set in terms of "Use Cache" in the Share settings?

hi new to unraid. Trying to setup an Ark server, however the server manager docker keeps restoring my game.ini and gameusersettings.ini to default. Also will not download mods.

Have you set Validate to true in the template? If yes, please disable it.

Maybe @Cyd can help with mods.

Have you alse read the second recommended post on top?

Thank you for your reply! I've attached the diagnostic. I don't use a cache system. Just an array of SSD.

Please check the template to what path the SteamCMD and GameFiles are set and also make sure that you've have enough space on the disk and that the files are not spread across multiple disks.

Tried it now on my own with a fresh copy pulled from the CA App and it works as it should: satisfactory.log

I think this is related to "-automanagemods" from what I've read this is not really supported.

What does the log say?

You can post screenshots directly here on the forums, simply press CTRL + V to past the screenshot here in the post if you have it in the clipboard or drop the files directly here in the text box. :)

Than you, exactly the log from the container.

Does your container have exclusive access to the Internet without any blocking software in front of it like AdGuard/PiHole?

Just for testing purposes can you try to download this file: Click

Have you maybe stopped or restarted the container once when it was installing the files?

I would recommend that you start with a fresh install without any modifications to the template (except for the paths if you need to customize them):

  1. Delete the Container
  2. Delete the directory for arkse that lives in your appdata folder
  3. Grab a fresh copy from the CA App
  4. Wait for it to download the dedicated server and watch the logs (can take a long time for ARK)
