Sorry if this was asked already, I just started Runescape Dragonwilds after a hiatus and noticed they added dedicated server support. Would it be possible to get a container for that game as well?

First post in this thread, sorry:

I'm not sure if I understand that question?

Please do note that my containers are built specificly for the dedicated servers because many servers need special treatments to work properly.

No, this is just when you get the message in your logs. Nothing that I can do about that since this is related to steamcmd and not the container.

cant find a clear error... but due to some unknown issues... the docker takes a long time to load and when it does I cant find it in the app... anyone else?

the issue started within the past week

Hello! I can't seem to get Sons of the Forest to work using Tailscale and Direct Join.

I currently have 4 other ich777 servers running (Satisfactory, Minecraft, Valheim and Palworld), and they are all running Tailscale and are all running great- we haven't had to configure port forwarding on our routers thanks to the Tailnet, and they are very easy to join, even if in some games they appear offline.

But for some reason, following the exact same procedure that I did for the other 4 games, Sons of the Forest just will not let me join the server. I know we have the correct ports configured in the container (8766, 9700, 27016, all UDP), and the server appears to be running just fine as it has been continuously auto saving. I can also ping the container just fine from another machine on the Tailnet.

Whenever I click "Direct" in Sons of the Forest, I just get "Game server not found". Has anyone been able to figure out a similar setup with Sons of the Forest?

Okay, about what container are we talking about?

IIRC SotF needs a public IP so to speak a direct accessible connection from outside to work properly, I think there is no LAN only switch for that game.

Hello @ich777 . I installed your “The Forest” Docker on my Unraid, and it works perfectly, thank you. I’d like to take the adventure a little further. Is the Docker compatible with mods? If so, how, and is it easy to install? Thank you.

Sorry but I'm not into modding, I assume the container would support that but I'm not too sure about that.

You can copy whatever you like and add startup parameters to the template, maybe that will help you. I can only give support for the container if something isn't working and the container in general is working. :D

HI @ich777

I understand you are no longer taking requests for new server containers, but I am wondering if you may be able to provide some guidance on the process, if I were to use the SteamCMD container and modify the template to download "medieval dynasty" and create custom parameters according to the Dedicated Server documentation for that game. Am I on the right track here, or is this not possible?

Could I use a different game container to modify the gameID, and replace the parameters, game config, etc as required or is that too messy?

I'm just thinking hypothetically, are you hitting a container limit for Unraid, would it make more sense to use a generic "Steam Dedicated Server" container then have users customize it based on whatever game they need, for some of the more obscure games, that may not see as big of an audience for downloads? Or is it just too much of a hassle in general to support that many requests yourself as the author? (Completely understandable) Would there be a way to put them on GitHub for us to download & install/import manually in unraid?

Sorry to bombard you, just trying to see if I can muddle through it myself if it's possible.

Edit: It turns out the game I'm looking for does not support steam dedicated server right now, but still wondering about user created servers as above.

Thanks!

No dedicated server support for game I inquired about.

Hi @ich777 thanks for making these containers but can you help with this issue if i install the container for 7DTD server it works fine until i stop the container then it would load the server again keeps crashing unless i delete the container and reinstall it then it will work again.

how are you meant to shutdown the server properly as telnet says not installed so i cannot connect to the server command line.

my saved games seem fine but after a stop and start it get errors like

I started getting this after updating 7DTD to V3. Thought it was either EOS (cross platform) being enabled or having SteamNetworking disabled given the error. Setting EOS to false and enabling SteamNetworking did not help.

I thankfully have a backup of my server pre update so i do have a working config saved providing this works soon.

Ive just updated to V3 on 7days, any changes to the serverconfig file breaks it and creates a loop. (Even the smallest change of 1 character)

I understand there is a new "generation code" to enter which handles most alterations to the server (like bag drop of death etc..) but even entering just the code breaks it. Lead to believe any changes are breaking the file ownership/permissions more than what is entered.
I'm a still a noob and learning up on this so yet to find a solution.

Same issue with 7D2D. You can change a value in the docker container when editing and save it and it will work again, but this is quite a pain to have to do every time.

Maybe adding a field to the container and using that to do it until it's fixed is the only option?

Heya Ich777, I know you can't make a new container for Runescape: Dragonwilds, but I am trying to use your Repo for SteamCMD to make one for myself, however it doesn't seem to be working well. I have an inkling as to what the issue is, but wanted to get your feedback before I just give up.

I grabbed the repo, added variables for the Game_ID, Game_Port, SteamCMD path, Server_Files path, Game_Params and Launch. It checks out SteamCMD, good. It checks out the game, downloads and good (I can see the dir created on the drive), then it proceeds to reboot again and again and again. I have Dragonwild.ini folder in the right place according to Runescape's own guide, but nothing, no errors just container closes and tries again.

My thought is your repo is looking to start.sh which then triggers start_server.sh, which actually boots the server, however I don't see a start_server.sh in the folder structure like I do with most of your other games. It also looks like Dragonwilds does its own script ( ./RSDragonwilds/RSDragonwildsServer.sh).

At this point I am thinking about just forking your steamcmd repo and just directly telling it call the RSDragonwildsServer.sh, but I am hoping you might have a much simpler solution?

I'm trying to get 7DTD server running but it just loops on start.

I think the issue lies with this

2026-07-06T22:37:23 0.089 WRN The open files limit is too low (1024) and may cause crashes. Recommended is at least 10240. Follow these steps to increment it:

- Open /etc/security/limits.conf with a text editor: 'sudo editor /etc/security/limits.conf'

- Add or update the line: 'steam soft nofile 10240'

- Save the file and exit the editor

- Apply the changes: Log out and back in or restart the system

Did you seriously just push a fixed version within about 2 minutes of me posting this and fix the issue?

If so, you are a god among men!
