GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
No the 1st is a software VNC graphics card. The 2nd is your real graphics card.

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
If you follow this method you have both options available. Depends how many PCs you have available I guess. For me I have a mac laptop. If you right click the VM you can open a VNC window in browser. Once booted into windows in control panel somewhere you can turn on Microsoft Remote Desktop for a better VNC type experience. Then download the Microsoft remote desktop app for your PC. Enter the login info and you now can connect remotely with decent video quality etc. You can also hook up a hdmi or display port out of the graphics card to a display..

Intel CPU Undervolting
How did you get on with this with recent versions of unraid?

Reduce power consumption with powertop
Anyone know if there is a project to bring unraid to arm perhaps in the next 2 years? Arm chips would give crazy power efficiency. There is an arm version of slackware which I think is what unraid is based on? https://arm.slackware.com

Server won't shutdown 6.12.1
Yeah issues only happens when awaking from sleep. Server powers on (or wakes depending on last state) at 8am from bios then sleeps at 9am. WOL packet at 5pm but sleeps if no one using. WOL packet at 8pm no sleep until 11pm. Has been working fine on the b560m motherboard for ages. Changed to z590 for full pcie lanes. Have changed it to shutdown until can resolve. Don't understand why a z590 can't sleep / wake up properly when a b560 can do it fine. Thought the z with its extra pcie lanes would be better. Unless its crappy bios firmware. Someone on amazon reviews mentioned say had firmware issues but no mention of the version. Might try going down a bios update.

Still odd behaviour happening.. Notice when doing the diagnostic it gets hung up on a share that was deleted.

Server won't shutdown 6.12.1
Thanks I changed to XFS image and also double checked bios settings as had just changed motherboard from b560m to z590m. One setting for PCIe native was turned on so turned that off. I imagine the HBA card was going to sleep in bios rather than OS and causing the hangup. Seems stable now and shutdown ok.

Not sure whats causing it. If I have to force power off by holding power button it'll have to do a parity check. 6.12.1

Powering a JBOD / Parallel PSU
So I've got 2x of these 16x bay expanders on the way.. I only need 1 working to start with. Each takes 4x molex. I have 1 spare 500w PSU laying around. It has 2x molex on it. My question is has anyone used one of these ATX adapters? Takes the unused motherboard feed and splits it up. Ideally I'd want it to power up with the server... so would I just run the 2 cables over to the other PSU? Not sure how the built in switch here effects my idea but I could probably desolder it if needed.

Shrink Array question
Ok thanks and guess there is only ever the 1 partition? The drive was blank zeroed already and not used so I was able to remove by doing new config. Quick easy.

Shrink Array question
Does this method still work? I get this error dd bs=1M if=/dev/zero of=/dev/md3 status=progress dd: error writing '/dev/md3': No space left on device 9+0 records in 8+0 records out 8388608 bytes (8.4 MB, 8.0 MiB) copied, 0.00396821 s, 2.1 GB/s It's a 12TB blank drive. Maybe I can remove it if its already zero'd?

6.12 mover crashing
I've not attempted this since posting. Have updated to 6.12.1 System will attempt a weekly move tomorrow. Someone mentioned using the command 'move stop' or similar if it appears to stall again.

Dynamix - V6 Plugins
I got sleep working again and has been fine for a few days. Add any array drives to monitored disks. I also changed the time from what I think used to be 30s (is now minutes) to 1 for 1 minute. Also upped the network chatter to 500Kb. May reduce this in the future. I have it set to exclude the cache.

SAS to SATA cables: Forward or Reverse Which, Where, Why
What happens if I add a reverse sas cable in this configuration: LSI card or expander --> motherboard's sata ports. Does this do anything? The LSI card is connected via the PCIe lanes but limited in bandwidth.. is anything gained or would it not do anything? So like photo but then also adding in the reverse sas cable to motherboard's sata.

@JorgeB Lastly do you know what happens if you hookup a forward breakout sas cable - motherboard sata ports to sas expander or LSI HBA card. Thanks

Anyone using one of these 12bay sas expanders chasis? It's £39 on ali express for the whole cage + backplane... Wondering if this still needs an intel sas expander (card of ebay for £35) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005500841960.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.0.0.384d213ddJk8XO&gps-id=pcDetailFavMayLike&scm=1007.33682.303981.0&scm_id=1007.33682.303981.0&scm-url=1007.33682.303981.0&pvid=8417d9d3-fc23-4d3b-b489-abc7f9172c41&_t=gps-id:pcDetailFavMayLike,scm-url:1007.33682.303981.0,pvid:8417d9d3-fc23-4d3b-b489-abc7f9172c41,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238115%232000&pdp_npi=3%40dis!GBP!56.31!39.41!!!!!%40211b801a16873560695845392e4fca!12000033327242030!rec!UK!3840598

Can I use the intel RES2SV240 alone?

Looking ahead with ZFS... Is there anyway to split up sata ports? It's such a waste having 6Gbps (750MB/s) on each of the 6x motherboard ports. I think my fastest drive is up to 260MB/s. If only you could recoup the bandwidth you'd have 490MB/s left over x6 so 2940MB/s which would easily have run the LSI card decently for 8x cards. Annoyingly because of the way my motherboard divies up the PCIe lanes the LSI card is running on gen3 x1 so around 984MB/s. I could swap it into the graphics card slot.. or would a sas expander work in the graphics card slot? gen4 x16. I'm not completely sure how the sas expanders work? Other option for future could be a decent USB3.2 x2 DAS.

Minor - Dashboard layout changes when loging in via myunraid.net
6.12 - Minor annoying thing the dashboard layout changes when logging in via the SSL carted 131i31i4114.myunraid.net address. Customised layout show with plain ip address or the . local address Standard layout loads if you use the 10947w47.myunraid.net
