  1. All the standoffs are good, I've made the mistake while ago and kept shorting out a system. Now, I make sure. I have no speaker, just 4 LED lights that stay lit up in certain patterns which points me a little. I'll make sure later, if I install it again to make sure there's no metal touching anything it shouldn't, stuff like that.
  2. For some very odd reason I couldn't even post or boot at all. Nothing would show on the monitor I hooked up to it, couldn't even get in the BIOS.. Would just sit there. Troubleshooted for a few hours, and really never though taking the motherboard out of the case would make it boot. I'm too nervous to put it back in, maybe there is a short, or electric issue and don't want to fry anything. Anyway I was preparing to switch over to another case so it will stay like that until I have all the parts for the upgrade. I wish I knew what the problem was.
  3. I would love to see SCREEN as a single plugin. I also used the nerd pack for several other tools that were handy. I really hope someone would pick this up make it compliant with the latest version of unraid and have all the tools updates as well. Very sorry to see this one go out!
  4. iIf someone buys a switch with 1gbit RJ45 ports on it and it also has 2 SFP+ ports, what are they connecting or how are they using those SFP+ ports? Are they just directly connecting to other devices on the network? Just confused on the manner in how those 10Gbe ports are used if the rest of that switch only has 1Gbit RJ45. I'm looking to get myself a switch with 10GBE RJ45 ports on it and a couple of SFP+ ports.
  5. Thanks! I have been searching for a nice 10GbE switch with some RJ45 ports and a couple SFP+ ports. All I'm really finding is switches have the SFP+ ports but all the RJ45 ports are just 1Gbit. Shouldn't all those ports be 10GbE?
  6. I'm switching over to 10GbE in my home and started testing a couple RJ45 based 10GbE cards. I got the Gigabyte Vision, but it does not fit in any of my slots! Can someone explain why the Vision is longer and won't fit in my PCIe slots? On my board I have those little tiny PCIe slots which was where I thought this would plug in and I have the longer slots the type you install your video card in. Any suggestions on this craziness? The Vision card is on the left and a normal PCIe is on the right.
  7. If a new config was permanently written with the drives being in a different order I'd think you have lost everything. If the new config was not written and a parity never even got the chance to start, try putting the drives back to their original config and start the array. Most likely if a new config was previously written a parity will start.
  8. I bet a lot of users on these forums have SHUCKED some drives. I know I have when HD manufactures were greedy trying to inflate their stock price on PROJECTED sales. Anyway it seems all reversed. Now you can get an 18TB internal drive (I usually go for HGST HC550) for less than the WD external. Like the Elements or My Book. The internals are hanging around $300 and the externals are around $340-$350. Oh no, our big secret is out of the box! I do see a couple weird listings on the drive I usually buy. This one is $299. And this one is the same drive but at $30 more. They also each have difference SKUS, so the vendor is doing something sneaky. Their ASIN's are different as well. Same make/model/specs, maybe it is just a different version and the changes are not publicized. Both advertise 5 year warranty as well.
  9. Have not assumed anything. I was putting it out there since a lot of users don't even know the same file can have multiple bitrates and to show if any red flags while playing, try looking into that. Your comment is completely irrelevant and has no worth at all to this thread.
  10. Well if you are using Plex on the Roku it is most likely transcoding, since the Roku itself can't sustain anything above 40Mbit according to their own specs. I will watch that new Game of Thrones shows later today....hopefully HBOMAX has it in 4k with all the goodies.
  11. I actually find going to Midnight Commander the quickest. I do love the UI eye candy, but right down to it nothing beats a proven text based file manager.
  12. Sorry for the late reply but have you played back direct high bitrate content like 80Mbit? Anything over 40Mbit my Roku would die. The only thing that could play high bitrate content WITHOUT transcoding or lowering the bitrate is my Nvidia Shield Pro using Plex and Dune Real Vision. Ironically they both have 1Gbit ports and the Roku does not. I have never had my Roku Ultra play anything higher than 40Mbit. The internal processor just can't keep up, that's why it defaults to 40Mbit. I actually contacted Roku and they told me to view a special menu with some key code they told me and it did say 12Mbit. If you don't know how to see what the bitrate of the file just grab mediainfo. It will output information like this. And it will tell you the bit rate and all that. Most movies I rip have a higher bitrate than 40Mbit, so I can't use my Roku. Here is the link that shows you the max bitrate the Roku can play: https://developer.roku.com/docs/specs/media/streaming-specifications.md General Unique ID : 148207854240809057338503442650844029236 (0x6F7FCB60EA9246C59DB59280CCFEE134) Complete name : N:\Dune (2021) 2160p 92.46 G\Dune (2021) 2160p 92.46 G.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 File size : 86.1 GiB Duration : 2 h 35 min Overall bit rate mode : Variable Overall bit rate : 79.3 Mb/s Movie name : Dune.2021.2160p.BluRay.REMUX.HEVC.DTS-HD.MA.TrueHD.7.1.Atmos-FGT Encoded date : UTC 2021-12-04 09:45:17 Writing application : mkvmerge v63.0.0 ('Everything') 64-bit Writing library : libebml v1.4.2 + libmatroska v1.6.4 Video ID : 1 ID in the original source medium : 4113 (0x1011) Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main [email protected]@High HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate : 59.8 Mb/s Width : 3 840 pixels Height : 2 160 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 (Type 2) Bit depth : 10 bits Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.300 Stream size : 64.9 GiB (75%) Language : English Default : No Forced : No Color range : Limited Color primaries : BT.2020 Transfer characteristics : PQ Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant Mastering display color primaries : Display P3 Mastering display luminance : min: 0.0050 cd/m2, max: 4000 cd/m2 Maximum Content Light Level : 787 cd/m2 Maximum Frame-Average Light Level : 239 cd/m2 Original source medium : Blu-ray Audio #1 ID : 2 ID in the original source medium : 4352 (0x1100) Format : MLP FBA 16-ch Format/Info : Meridian Lossless Packing FBA with 16-channel presentation Commercial name : Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos Codec ID : A_TRUEHD Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 3 243 kb/s Maximum bit rate : 5 472 kb/s Channel(s) : 8 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Lb Rb Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 1 200.000 FPS (40 SPF) Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 3.52 GiB (4%) Title : TrueHD 7.1 Atmos Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Original source medium : Blu-ray Number of dynamic objects : 11 Bed channel count : 1 channel Bed channel configuration : LFE Audio #2 ID : 3 Format : DTS XLL Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Commercial name : DTS-HD Master Audio Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 3 931 kb/s Channel(s) : 8 channels Channel layout : C L R LFE Lb Rb Lss Rss Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 93.750 FPS (512 SPF) Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 4.27 GiB (5%) Title : DTS-HD MA 7.1 Language : English Default : No Forced : No Audio #3 ID : 4 ID in the original source medium : 4352 (0x1100) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Format settings : Dolby Surround EX Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 448 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 498 MiB (0%) Title : DD 5.1 Language : English Service kind : Complete Main Default : No Forced : No Original source medium : Blu-ray Audio #4 ID : 5 ID in the original source medium : 4353 (0x1101) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 448 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 498 MiB (0%) Title : DD 5.1 Language : English Service kind : Complete Main Default : No Forced : No Original source medium : Blu-ray
  13. Right now my server is an Intel X99 chipset with 32GB of memory and an old Intel 3930K processor. I still can't believe Intel sells that thing. Anyway, would moving to a B550 chipset with a newer Ryzen processor speed up unraid? Right now I use it as a media server and backup but will be using it more with VM's and other task orientated programs. I know the Intel 3930k processor was great when it was new, but now it's pretty much at the bottom of the list. The newer box will most likely have 64GB of ram. I've seen some pretty good deals on RAM, so I may as well upgrade that as well. I haven't upgraded my unraid server in several years and this will probably be the last but not sure which direction to go. I already have the B550-PLUS motherboard and memory. Would just need to grab a Ryzen processor. Then my X79 Sabertooth (which is what my unraid is now) can finally take a rest. Are there any unraid benchmarking lists around?
  14. So viewing anything to do with viewing living network information won't be coming from your group anymore, correct? I have been trying to check NETDATA but having small problems setting it up. When I load it, it only shows 10 minutes of history. I would want to see history of course. Is there a way NETDATA can pick a point date/day and start accumulating there and use the array to hold the data? Or, there could be another program out there. Soom I will be re-replacing all old 6g hardware with 12G hardware, higher end network lines and better quality everything. Maybe there is a better type "NETDATA? out there, or possible a whole new type of program.
  15. I found a very good deal on 9400 HBA card which would hold all my drives at once. Right now they are all running the little Dell PERC 3G cards. In any situation would there be any scenaries where having all 12G based cards, and controllers benefit the speed of the server? Right now everything is going through 6g controller cards and backplanes and possible thought if pumping up the bandwidth I would be able to get more speed out of the system. I would of course have to sacrifice my 24 Norco case since that is only 6g. I already have the 12G card updated via into tri-mode with the latest first as well put down the latest bios. There is no conventional BIOS on boot up with this card. No hitting C+H or anything like that. This is just a JBOD ready to handle lots of data transferring. What do you guys think? Worth to give it a try? i'm also prone to getting this done because the Norco Blackplanes are failing 2 out of 10 boots. Eventually it won't boot boot at all. Only thing I could find with the drive capacity is the Rosemill 16 bay4U box. I already have the 8643 forward breakout cables for all the drives that all sit in each it's own HD square. I will miss hot swap and force myself to start using those disk location libraries.
  16. When I run my net stats, the graphics do not follow. Any help?
  17. I took out my 3 Dell percs and just installed my LSI 9400 and video card and the machine never posted. I waited quite a long time. I'm positive it is not not one of those Chinese knock offs because I spoke to the owner and they get them right from Broadcom/LSI. This really blows.
  18. Is there a step by step someone can package up for me with all the necessary firmware files and BIOS files? I really forgot all that I learned years ago when I was doing the DELL PERC cards. 52 years old here and my memory does NOT retain what it use to, plus I'm starting to have issues with my eyes and it makes it that much difficult. The card I have is: Broadcom 9400-16I Tri-Mode 12Gb/s SAS HBA - 05-50008-00 Right now it's in a scrap windows box but can move it to my Linux Mint machine if easier.
  19. Right now the card is installed a small basic dell workstation. In device manager it says 'Avago Adapter, Crusader - StarPort'. I previously was able to flash and update the firmware on the Dell PERC cards with no problems. I'm finding this one to be quite difficult. I wish there was one package file that had everything in it to perform the firmware update and the BIOS. I believe this card is only IT mode but I want to get my hands on it more technically. Thanks.
  20. Plex ain't perfect, that's why I have to switch over to my Dune Media Player when some content cannot be player via Plex. Power up the Dune, plays fine in all direct modes.
  21. They are not repeating, and I did check to see if those files were there and they are not. Are they supposed to be there? 22. My memory isn't very good these days. What utility is available that lets you know what share is on which disks? So when you click on the share, a list of disks will come up that that share is on. I'm trying to make sure my cache drive which I use basically for my appdata folder is only using that cache drive.
