You can grab the update here. Unpack the zip file and replace the bz files on the root of your flash. BE SURE TO GRAB A BACKUP FIRST THOUGH.

Ok, I was able to upgrade manually. Only issue I notice is I lost the ability to browse my Tower in Windows network?

You should probably open a separate topic for this. If you search the forum you will see several similar discussions.

Yeah I just did. See this thread. Thanks

hi guys, i just updated to unraid 7 and question on my previous Tailscale plugin by Derek Kaser v. 2024.12.06
is this automatically migrated to the built-in Tailscale for unraid 7? do i need to do anything or delete the old tailscale plugin? thx!

successfully upgraded from 6.11.5 to 7 with no issues. Liking the UI improvements chaps

Easy upgrade from 6.12.14 to 7 this weekend. Only a single issue, my ActualServer docker refused to start afterwards, but there are some suggested fixes on GitHub, which worked without too much hassle.

Now learning about Tailscale (thanks for all the tutorial videos) and will explore the VM improvements at some point.

Many thanks to all who make unRAID happen!

Upgraded from 6.12.14 to version 7.0 without problems. However, I'm affected by the spindown issue due to two Marvell controller cards (Marvell Technology Group Ltd. MV64460/64461/64462 System Controller, Revision B (rev 01)). I know it's a kernel issue and I might have to wait for a new kernel release. Was just wondering if there's anything I can do in the meantime to make these 16 drives spindown again? Manual spindown on the main page doesn't work either unfortunately. Any help would be much appreciated to save some running power of the server.

AFAIK nothing you can do for now.

Found a strange "little" problem today...

Normaly when i move Files from my PC to unraid, it happens with ~1100MB/sek over my 10GBit LAN.

Since v7.0.0., the file transfer "fluctuates" around 650MB and drops to sometimes 150MB, then it went up to ~850MB.

Thats strange because with v6, it was always constant at 1065-1185MB/sek - no fluctuations...

I use on both machines a Samsung SSD 970 PRO (512GB/1TB).

updated to 7.0. How come each time I update a container (and im using tailscale funnel) I have to reauthenticate the container?

Please use the Tailscale sub forums here:

https://forums.unraid.net/forum/111-tailscale/

Please note that you might have to manually set a persistent state directory, I've described that how to do that in that post:

no problems here and my intel arc gpu worked just fine immediaty out of the box since i already had everything setup for intel when i still used the igpu. i use jellyfin but i suspect plex will work fine as well without any major issues

Upgraded to 7. Had a drive show as unmountable. Stopped/started in maintenance mode and ran xfs file system fix tool. Took two attempts but claimed to have worked. Started the array normally. All data gone. Ok whatever I guess I'll rebuild that.

Then I took a look at shares. There are files all over the place. Things on array that should only be in pools and vice versa. Only about half of docker containers work. Rebooted unraid entirely with no improvement. And of course this latest windows problem makes sorting it out from another machine on the network a pain.

Think the unraid experiment is over.

Most if not all of your concerns have nothing to do with the upgrade. Start a new thread in General Support with your Diagnostics and we can help you work through all of this.

Thanks for everyone's hard work on bringing V7 out!!

Question: How often with new releases is the kernel updated?

I was hoping to see at least kernel 6.7 in UR7 but we didn't quite get there on this release. My Ryzen 8500G still can't use the APU to do my Plex transcoding, so I am stuck using the Nvidia 1050ti, which runs in a PCIE slot with only one lane. The Ryzen 5 series with the 740 APU is supported under Kernel 6.7 going forward.

The kernel is normally the last LTS release once the beta cycle is started (6.6 in this case).   Unraid 7.1 is expected to use the next LTS kernel (currently 6.12) as long as there is ZFS support for it.

Next question (could ya see that coming lol)

OpenZFS is supported in 6.12

How long till work on 7.1 is started and how far out has a  .1 release normally taken?

Tailscale integration - game changer for me!

For me the 7.0 upgrade was as easy as any other previous deployment, and Tailscale was a snap to install.

Use the Upgrade Assistant tool to ensure all your plugins are up to date first (check dockers too) before proceeding.

Something that didn't come up a an error is the mover tuning plugin. With that installed the mover wouldn't move any files.

There was an error message (which I can't recall), I did find a post in here somewhere that concluded it was the tuner plugin causing the problem.

Once I uninstalled it the mover started working again.

finally had a chance to reboot into 7.0.0 stable after running the betas and RCs since they were public.

All working smoothly, all plugins working, docker (including compose) working, no errors in logs, ZFS pools imported without issue as expected, no issues with the main array, Mover tuning plug-in (Reynalds 2024.09.05.0222) works, all good.

impatiently awaiting the jump to Linux Kernel 6.12 and OpenZFS 2.3.0 though....

New to unraid, installed 6.12.14 less than a month ago - moving all my files from my old servers to it, decided to upgrade to 7.0.0 stable for some of the new features, seemed to download okay, but when it rebooted, I could not access the server on the network, plugged in a monitor and it seems to be getting stuck on booting SMP configuration (tried rebooting a few times).cd1ab436-bae7-4552-9f25-92f303d3d9d9.jpg

Hardware is i7-6700K on an Asrock z170 OC Formula (updated to the latest BIOS) with 16GB RAM.  Added an intel  X520-DA1 for 10gbit and a nvidia 1050ti.

I am hoping there is some way of fixing this without requiring a backup, as I made one before proceeding with the upgrade, but when I looked for it I notice the download had failed :(

Grateful for any advice to fix this.

There's another user with a similar board, or even the same, having the same issue, see if this helps:

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll try the fix you mentioned.  Or maybe I should get a different motherboard if that doesn't work?

If that's an option...
