If you are using a docker image file you can leave it on the default, overlay2 is for people having issues with docker in a Folder on zfs.

My backplane is a single-port expander model, specifically the Supermicro BPN-SAS3-846EL1 with 24 drive slots. I’ve connected it using a single cable to my HBA, ensuring there’s no dual-path setup or multiple expanders involved. This configuration has worked flawlessly with Unraid 6.12.14 and earlier versions, so I’m confident the issue isn’t with the hardware setup. Could there be another reason for the detection issue?

Please create a new thread in the general support forum and post the diags from v6.12 for comparison.

I don't have any Pool devices for cache. I just have 4 hard drives with 1 drive for parity. Thats a total of only 5 drives.

There are two different errors mentioned in that post, you are likely seeing the second one, if yes, read the last line, I've edited the post to hopefully make it more clear.

I upgraded and for the "wrong pool" error. Followed instructions and got the pool back but my VMs and containers are gone from the configuration. The data is there, but the configuration isn't. I had a backup and everything, but what's the quickest way to get that back ?

That suggests a different or an additional issue, please create a new thread in the general support forum and post the diagnostics.

Wifi support is much longed for

I don't know if this will help you, but my Unraid server fakes an ethernet connection by connecting via ethernet to a Wifi hotspot (mine is an Eero) which is itself wirelessly connected to my access point and router.

Successful update. Thanks so much. 6.12.14 - 7

Edited by m411b

updated from 6.12.14, removed my RTL8125B driver plugin 1st, so far all things work, will run a few days to see if I need that driver or counter any problem.

I upgraded six of my unRAID servers from 6.12.14 to 7. They upgraded without any issues. Although, I did uninstall the RTL8125 plugin first. And then reinstalled the plugin after unRAID 7 was installed.

My network transfer speeds are noticeably faster now. I'm getting around 2.1 Gbps transfer rates. Previously, I only got around 1.75 Gbps transfer rates.

I do have a question about the mover function. Previously, it would show the mover has started, and it would also show the name of the file when it first started moving it from the cache drive. But now, it is still showing when the mover started. But it doesn't show the name of the file until it has finished moving. Is this normal behavior with OS7?

upgraded from 6.12.14 to 7.0.0 - no problems here! took about 5 minutes for the whole process 🙂 thanks for the great work!

From RC2 to Final went flawless.

Few hours after the update i found that log entry:

Jan 10 16:46:13 Raider kernel: nvme nvme0: request 0x1 genctr mismatch (got 0x0 expected 0x1)
Jan 10 16:46:13 Raider kernel: nvme nvme0: invalid id 1 completed on queue 0

No other issues are shown but i never have seen this message in 6.xx or 7.0 RC2

Is logging enabled in the mover schedule.

It’s a workaround and very much appreciated, but i would like to see native support for WiFi.
that would be so awesome and such a relief.

Upgraded without issue. Thank you.

Bit perturbed by the 2GB USB stick issues, still using the USB stick I got when I started with UnRAID 5.

Are we saying 4GB is the minimum now, if so, no mention in the release notes unless I’m being blind.

Going to tidy the USB stick and try it anyway..!

Does Overlay2 driver applies if one's using docker img instead of directory? Still haven't updated

2GB is still enough for the automatic update if the flash doesn't have too much extra stuff, 1GB is not, had to manually update some of my servers still using a 1GB flash drive.

No, the vdisk will always use btrfs or xfs depending what you've selected.

overlay2 is just available if you are using a directory instead of a vdisk.

Upgraded today.  Went very smooth with no issues.  Going to wait a few days before upgrading my ZFS pool.  Thank you everyone for all your hard work!

Upgraded my 2 machines to 7 and it was really smooth.  I am impressed:

I had to replace my 2GB USB stick with an 8GB I had. :)

I have a single ZFS drive for cache which uses snapshots and backs up to the array using SpaceInvaderOne's method with the Sanoid, ZFS Master plugins and a script.

Do I need to undo any of this for unraid 7?

I am on 6.12.10 with a machine that has VM's running and many docker's. Is it safe to upgrade directly to 7, or should I go in steps? Thanks 👍

To answer my own question incase it's useful to others, I updated the server from 6.12.10 to 7 in one step without issue. Super micro h11ssl with epyc 7k62. Thanks 👍
