i cannot find anything "interesting" in the logfiles sadly

Can you maybe post them after a crash?

my system has 8gb ram and it looks like as it gets maxed out by unraid and the forestserver-docker. might really be the ram.. but unraid itself does not crash/restart or something.

And that's maybe the cause of the issue, since if the container runs out of RAM (or better speaking your system) it will begin to kill processes and that will is most likely why the container is restarting since if the main process is killed the container will restart since the container users --restart=unless-stopped as a startup argument.

ram is as i said, maxed out if the forestserver is running (players on it, even at 1 player).

8GB of RAM is pretty low if you want to run game servers on it.

For example Palword uses on my system with 9 to 10 players on it about 35 to 40GB of RAM <- of course that game is an exception.

However a "normal" and optimized game server should use about 1 to 4GB in idle and you can calculate at least 1GB for each player that connects (depending on the game).

I'm currently running a Valheim server using this app, but I'm having difficult seeing how many slots the server has or anyway of changing it? I've tried going through all files etc seeing If I can see a parameter to change myself but no luck.

Can anyone shed some light on how to do this please?

Usually a stock Dedicated Valheim Server supports up to 10 players, all values higher than that are modded servers and not officially supported if I'm not mistaken.

Please take the above with a grain of salt since this was the default a year back but I don't think that it has changed.

If you want to increase the player limit you have to use ValheimPlus or BepInEx which you can install through the container however how to do that is up to you since I don't support modding, I can only provide support for the base functionality. ;)

for fivem docker can we add txadmin on it ?

Have you read the description?

grafik.png.ad4a0ca03524e2e6eaca9dde107aca04.png

Just remove the server.cfg from GAME_CONFIG and create another TCP port with the container and host port set to 40120 and click apply, afterwards you can connect to txAdmin.

Hello!

I got this strange behavior from The Forest server container:

It never authorizes with serverSteamAccount *MyGeneratedToken* in container template (I think it don't pass it, or don't use it), only if token explicitly set in config.cfg.

Please remove your Steam credentials form the template, they are only required if the are not hidden away under the "Show more..." Section and marked with the red asterisk.

I would recommend to stop the container, remove the directory from the appdata folder for the game and then remove the credentials and start the container afterwards.

I usually can't help with modding containers since this is up to you because I can't know how every container handles mods.

I thought there was a way to fix this, perhaps with a path entry or something similar. but unfortunately I wasn't able to solve the problem.

but thanks for the answer

Thank you for your time :)

Removed the credentials, removed the container, removed both the steamcmd and the vrising folder, reinstalled the container ensuring that the credentials are not there:

Did you change something in the template? It seems the container can't find the files or is not able to start V-Rising.

Are you sure that the path for the Gamefiles is correct?

May I ask why did you enable verification from the game files?

On what system are you trying to run the container?

The path in the container to the gamefiles is always:

/serverdata/serverfiles/

Sorry but I really don't know how to mod a ARK server.

Here is what the template is set as.

Why did you enable validation? Please disable it.

On what system do you try to run the container?

Did you change already some config files?

Please note that I always recommend to use the real file path (this applies to the game files only) not the FUSE file path to the files.

/mnt/user/... in this case is the FUSE file path and some games will segfault and refuse to start.

As far as I can tell, validation isnt enabled.

if you mean the version of unraid, it is 6.12.9

I have changed nothing in config files

and by FUSE vs direct, do you mean /mnt/user/appdata vs /mnt/tank/appdata (its on a zfs pool)?

actually, changing the path to /mnt/tank/appdata for serverfiles allowed it to start up!

Please make also sure that the files stay on this Pool and are not moved to the Array in the Share settings because otherwise you will run into problems again.
