I've installed Catalina on Unraid on NUC and it works fine, but without connecting to apple id server. Then I've tried to edit xml to change the interface to e1000-82545en and it stopped working:

image.png.490737f79811f55adb5dd47cbb39b471.png

If I delete this change is is starting to work  again.

Then I tried to add logical processors and it stop working at all - there was a problem with the screen:

Any ideas?

The error message is, for once, actually quite useful.

Has anyone done a recent install of High Sierra on 6.9 beta 35?

I'm getting random hard resets for seemingly no discernable reason within the VM. Sometimes attempting to install packages will do it, other times it'll start a reboot loop. This is on a fresh install with no App Store updates to the OS, Lulu firewall, and passing through a 1080ti with Nvidia web drivers. FWIW, OS lives on the cache drive.

I had the exact same installation running rock solid from the introduction of Macinabox (on 6.8.3) and now can't get it to play nice.

Has anyone successfully passed through an iPhone to the macinabox vm?

I was able to pass through a USB thumb drive after lots of research (had to delete the <address> tag), but I could not get the vm to see my iphone using the same method.

Yes, but only by passing a whole controller and performance is terrible, although that may be specific to my convoluted setup.

I saw a recent post about usb/ip support in the next version which might be an option if you don't have a spare controller.

tried to reinstall catalina today, i got this message shown up, didnt change anything in the vm GUI config, please help;)

All my usb ports are under one iommu group. I don't know what will happen if I pass the whole thing to the VM, since that would also include the unraid usb drive.

this wont work, the usb controller for unraid CANT be passed to a VM.

Has anyone ever tried using anything like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/PCI-E-Express-3-Port-1X-Multiplier-Riser-Card-Mining-Cable/269154426

PCI-E Express 3 Port 1X Multiplier Riser Card?

My computer only has one port free (besides the GPU port) for MacOS and I would like to put in a fenvi T919 for macOS PC PCI Wifi Card Continuity Handoff BCM94360CD Native Airport WiFi BT 4.0 1750Mbps 5GHz/2.4GHz MIMO 802.11ac Beamforming+ WLAN PCI-E Card in addition to the USB controller card  I'm already passing through.

How do these multiplier cards pull off sharing just one PCIe lane?

All of the expansion cards in the entire machine I want to use are just are 1x

My system should be in the signature (Dell Optiplex 9020)

@SpaceInvaderOne any news about that post you did on that random forum ??

Yes there is a big update for macinabox. I should have the new version up tomorrow along with a video on how to use.

I deceided to make more changes again to the container before releasing it hense the delay.

Major changes are.

Switched to Opencore.

Supports Big Sur, Catalina, Mojave and High Sierra.

Xml for template generated on the fly setting any custom locations you use for vm images or iso images.

Installing vm no longer requires having to stop array/vm service before seeing the vm in vm tab.

Being able to edit the vm in Unraid vm manager. Add cores, ram gpu usb controller ect without having to edit xml after.

Auto fixes for unusual core counts in mac vms.

Auto fixing network type for both install and post install

Able to use both custom and stock unraid ovmf files

When you use the new version the existing template is not compatable with the new Macinabox. So please make sure to delete the container, the template and the appdata.

New template looks like this. If yours doesnt look like this its not the correct one.

Should cut down on the support requests in this thread... :)
Just out of interest, how did you manage to do this? I thought this was a limitation in unraid’s VM implementation?

Inquiring minds want to know, can you leverage this to other VM's as well by specifying a template of some sort to fix the edits the GUI mangles?

Amazing news!!! I am sure this will be one of the most watched videos. So many of us are waiting for it.

I currently run a Catalina VM created via the "old" macinabox docker. Is it possible to install the new one and then update to Big Sur? Or do I need to create a new VM from scratch?

Great this new version.
But I don't know VirtManager well and I'm blocking on a connection problem.
Someone would have some explanations to pass on to me, regarding the Add connection window.
What do we have to fill in? Do you have to do setting before create a connection?

Hi Cuacococo,

try this

image.png.674491992a60aa3db74cfdb2b75f0af2.png

Select

Hypervisor: QEMU/KVM

Check: Connect to remote host over SSH

Username: root

Hostname: <IP of you Unraid Server>

Check: Autoconnect

image.png.30737f12b8860c4be2f93ee33c06edae.png

Then you may need to accept the certificate (type yes) and enter the password of your Unraid account.

Now you should see all VMs defined in your Unraid including Macinabox (if successful installed).

Hope this will help you.

I get the same issue. Im typing the username root and IP correctly.

Can't wait for the video on how to use the new version.  Right now I cannot get it added and fumbling through isn't the easiest.

I KNOW deep down, I should wait for the video to come out... but dammit i'm too excited and have been waiting for a couple weeks! This is what happens when the container runs:

image.png.c6e703c44446822b519fd653c90fb201.png

Any insight? Are there things that need to be setup on Unraid before-hand? I do have the VM service enabled.

EDIT: I'm also on the newest beta (6.9.0-beta-35) Although I'm pretty sure Ed runs the beta himself and I can't imagine him dropping something that will break when they release 6.9.0 so I don't think that is a problem.
