Im having issues mounting HHDs.

first, I formatted 3 drives with windows with NTFS. using an external usb dock, the first drive mounted ok. i transferred files with krusader and removed the drive. I put in the second drive and the mount button was grayed out. Same with the third. I then tried formatting the third one in UD as NTFS. same issue

here are the logs:

I have UD, UD plus and UD preclear installed. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all three apps.

Any help would be appreciated, TIA

I solved my issues!! Yes, multiple.

1. The drives were in a true nas build and were in a zfs raid.

I guess UD does NOT remove the file system signature when you delete partitions or format. Windows 10 does NOT remove the file system signature when you delete partitions or format, but does create a NTFS partition. but I guess windows 10 doesn't care about zfs signature on the root of the drive. had to run wipefs  in unraid terminal window to get rid if it. and use fdisk to delete partitions.

2. I was trying to use xfs format and mount the drives in UD. Reading the tool tip popup in UD for format file system said something like zfs and btrfs are best for adding disks to the array. I misunderstood this to mean best to use in Unraid. I was tired, frustrated and it was late. my brain wasn't working properly.

3. see issue one again.... lol. again

Final solution: Get some sleep and have a good breakfast. Put drives in unraid box. Open terminal window. Delete file system with wipefs. Delete partitions with fdisk (btw, fdisk put a dos file system on the root of the drive). Go to UD and format dive with ntfs. mount drive. .... profit.

Or use UD Preclear to clear off the disk.

I'm encountering an odd issue with shares on my 2 unRAID servers. Every so often the NFS shares that I mount via UD will 'drop' and show 0 bytes for size and no info (red bar using the color theme) for free/used space. This also used to happen with SMB shares. When these 'drops' occur, clicking the Mount button does nothing and even odder, no errors or messages are reported in syslog.

When it does occur, I usually have to stop all running Docker containers and reboot to be able to re-mount the shares. Any idea what might be causing this and any idea(s) to try and prevent it from happening? I'll be sure to grab diagnostics the next time it happens, but thought I'd ask to see if others have seen this issue.

When the remote server goes off-line, the check for the size, used, and free fails and zeroes are returned.  That's why you see the 0 bytes for size.  This is generally due to a remote server going off-line or a network issue.

Post diagnostics the next time it happens before you reboot.

Yes, that's what I suspected. But the issue occurs when the servers are still online. I've been watching the logs from my network switches and so far there's no evidence of a dropped connection when the issue occurs. As it doesn't happen often and I've been used to rebooting to resolve it, I've never bothered grabbing full diagnostics. I've checked syslog before rebooting, but as mentioned I see no messages, even when I click the Mount button. I'll keep reminding myself to grab full diagnostics the next time it happens.

When it happens again, check the disk ball.  If is is grayed out, the remote server is not responding to a ping and UD thinks it's off-line.

First thing I've checked usually and it's always been green. Both servers are connected using 10Gbps NICs on a Mikrotik CRS305 switch. That switch is linked to my Brocade ICX6610 with a passive DAC cable. Even other systems that are connected to the Brocade don't see any server disconnection issues so I'm pretty sure my network and systems themselves are OK. Just a wierd glitch. Especially since there's no messages in syslog, even when re-trying the Mount button. Regardless, I'll grab diagnostics the next time it happens.

Are you using Jumbo Packets?

Hi,

I'm trying to mount a Azure File Share but it does not work.

I tried to mount it in a linux VM and that worked great, but following UD´s next next finish just say that the share is offline.

this is the mount string I used in the VM (some data generalized). Any suggestions?

sudo mkdir /mnt/test
if [ ! -d "/etc/smbcredentials" ]; then
sudo mkdir /etc/smbcredentials
fi
if [ ! -f "/etc/smbcredentials/mystorageaccount.cred" ]; then
    sudo bash -c 'echo "username=mystorageaccount." >> /etc/smbcredentials/mystorageaccount.cred'
    sudo bash -c 'echo "password=supergreatpassword" >> /etc/smbcredentials/mystorageaccount.cred'
fi
sudo chmod 600 /etc/smbcredentials/mystorageaccount..cred

sudo bash -c 'echo "//mystorageaccount.file.core.windows.net/test /mnt/test cifs nofail,vers=3.0,credentials=/etc/smbcredentials/mystorageaccount..cred,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777,serverino" >> /etc/fstab'
sudo mount -t cifs //mystorageaccount.file.core.windows.net/test /mnt/test -o vers=3.0,credentials=/etc/smbcredentials/mystorageaccount.cred,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777,serverino

The remote server must respond to a ping or UD thinks it is off-line and marks the share as off-line.

NFS and SMB shares are forced to shutdown when the array is shutdown.  Unfortunately, I just found a typo that was preventing that.  I'll fix that in today's release.

I know this is an older post I'm circling back on, but I think there may still be an issue.

I have a Synology NAS that I have created NFS mount points to from unRAID via UD. I had a planned power outage last week and I shut down my Syno first. When I went to stop the array on my unraid, it hung there with the dancing bars. UD was showing my top Synology NFS mount as "UNMOUNTING". It also showed all the points as offline. (No green dot) It remained like this for 5 minutes or so until I powered on my Synology. At which point everything unmounted and the array stopped.

You need to stop your rsync if the remote goes off-line.  It's spamming the log.

You are using NFSv3.  MFSv4 is more robust.  Upgrade to 6.10 and enable NFSv4 in UD Settings.

I don't see any UD unmount attempts in the log.  There isn't an Unraid shutdowon in the log.

My rsync only runs between midnight and 8 AM. Interesting that there are additional log entries at 10 PM. I'm open to suggestions if there is a better way to push a duplicate copy of specific directories between A and B. I want to retain my file structure and purge out anything that no longer exists locally. This is my cmd line.

rsync -hlrtv --progress --partial --append --delete-after --stop-at 08:00 /mnt/user/source/ /mnt/remotes/dest/

Come to think of it. The IP you show in the logs is my Synology. It does a rsync push to the unraid. Perhaps those are all the spam log entries you are noticing. Again, open to a better method if there is one.

Good to know. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for 6.10 to go GA, and not be RC.

The shutdown was last week. I'll shutdown my Syno and get a new diagnostic while trying to stop the array.
